Dhyan Mandir is a beautiful ashram with two yoga halls with big garden spaces with flowers and many trees. There is free Wi-Fi access, a hot shower, and a filtered drinking water system.

There are private rooms and shared rooms, some of them have AC. The rooms are big, clean and have Western toilets and a wardrobe. Bedsheets, blankets, and pillows are provided for you. A washing machine is available to use for free any time you want to do laundry.

Program

This retreat is not an incoherent mix of yoga classes and meditation techniques but offers a deeper understanding of how you can use yoga asanas for mental health. Through the practice of some asanas, your energy level, mind patterns, and habits can be changed.

In the retreat, Triguna Yoga will show you the role of breathing in your life and how it creates opening and change in the self. A better quality of breath gives you a better quality of life.

Besides yoga asana and pranayama, you will work with the 5 elements to heal and detoxify physically, mentally, and emotionally. You will get an understanding and experience of how you can rebalance your body and mind without the use of herbs or medicine.

Triguna Yoga will especially focus on emotional detoxification kriyas: how you can release the side effects of your negative emotions. The detoxification with 5 elements includes mud and water treatments, breathing techniques as well as teachings on how you can increase the fire element and ether element (fasting).

The purpose of this retreat is to help the body and mind heal so that you can gain more inner stability and strength to deal with situations in life.

Yoga posture/asana

There will be daily Hatha and Ashtanga yoga classes which help increase physical strength, inner strength, and the natural flexibility of the body and mind.

Meditation (Dhyana)

Meditation is a systematic practice that promotes physical, mental, and emotional tranquillity. It increases the vital energy in the body and gives you more aliveness, good blood circulation, and a relaxed nervous system.

Yoga Nidra (physic sleep)

When a yoga practitioner moves through the various internal states of Yoga Nidra, a profound experience of relaxation occurs. This is called "turiya," a sensation of pure bliss. This will cover basic relaxation, tension relaxation, and full-body relaxation.

Yogic cleansing (shatkarma)

Yogic cleansing exercises are important to learn how to incorporate your breath and meditate properly during the physical aspects of yoga. It also removes the blockages in the energy channels. This will include:

Emotional detoxification kriyas

Emotional detoxification kriyas is a combination of removing knots in the body through pressing points, breathing techniques, release through sound and laughter, and meditation. It is a three-day program and very effective to release the effect of emotions and other toxins in the body.

Naturopathy

This retreat will take place at the Triguna Yoga Center situated in Rishikesh, India. The holy city of Rishikesh, in the base of the Himalayas, holds deep cultural and spiritual significance for local Hindus.

Sacred rivers and mountains set the scene for yoga and reflective hikes. Rishikesh is a world yoga capital and every year thousands of people come to Rishikesh to learn yoga and meditation. There are hundreds of temples and ashrams in Rishikesh. Dhyan Mandir ashram is located a couple of kilometers from Rishikesh away from all noise and traffic and close to the holy Ganga river.

Food

During this course, you will be served three delicious vegetarian yogic meals per day. The food is carefully supervised and is prepared in a very natural and yogic manner while promoting the use of seasonal vegetables and fruits and avoiding all the artificially prepared edibles.

The cooks will give their best efforts to prepare the food with utmost devotion and love which could cater to the needs of nourishment of all the layers of your personality.

Some vegetarian food is vegan as well, and if not, there will always be vegan dishes available for the vegan students. Also, for food allergies like dairy or gluten allergy or any other diet, Triguna Yoga can provide foods according to your needs.

Spa treatments

Ayurvedic massage is available upon request. You can book our usual masseuse for a 60-minute sessions (or longer) at the ashram. Prices start from 1,000 INR (about 12 EUR) for a standard 60-minute massage. Ayurvedic and Deep Tissue around 1,500 INR (about 16 EUR).

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Dehradun Airport (DED) or Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). Triguna Yoga can arrange taxi service for you from both airports with the ashram's usual driver at the normal taxi rates.

Arrival by bus

Being a popular tourist destination, Rishikesh has a good network of buses connecting it with important places such as Haridwar, Dehradun, and New Delhi. Buses depart in the morning and late evening from the Kashmere Gate ISBT, New Delhi for Rishikesh every day. You can choose from a regular, deluxe, or luxurious coach.

Arrival by train

The nearest railhead to Rishikesh is in Haridwar which is approximately 25 kilometers away. Haridwar, in turn, is linked to major Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Varanasi. Some of the popular trains are Shatabadi Express, Jan Shatabdi, AC Special Express, and Mussoorie Express.

For those making the journey to Rishikesh, it is advisable to take the train till Haridwar and then either take a bus or hire a taxi to Rishikesh. While the bus would take about 45 minutes, the taxi will take you to Rishikesh in about half an hour.

Arrival by taxi

Taking a taxi up to Rishikesh is worth considering, as it is connected to other cities via the National Highway 58, which is in a good condition for most of the year. The drive from Delhi to Rishikesh would take approximately six to seven hours. The approximate fare from New Delhi is between 5,000 and 6000 INR depending on the season and time of the day/night. From Dehradun, the drive is about 40 minutes to the school and the taxi fee is 1000 INR (about 13 EUR).
