You will be accommodated in a well-furnished resort with the option of a shared or single room during this program. Luxury sea view rooms are also available on request (subject to availability). Program

This seven-day yoga with Ayurveda retreat is a specially tailored program, designed to provide you with fundamental skills and confidence to practice yoga based on Hatha yoga and Ashtanga Vinyasa lineages, on your way to developing a sequence for your daily practice. After the consultation with Ayurveda doctor a daily treatment for one and a half hours will be arranged for seven days and along with the ayurveda treatment there will be a detailed analysis of your body type to recognize the Doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and also to change your food habit and lifestyle according to your body type. At Mathatitu Yoga Varkala, they understand the importance of balancing excellent teaching with affordable fees.

They have the responsibility not only to offer students the very best standard of learning, but also to keep their fees low, to be able to work towards their aim of making yoga classes accessible to all. Their belief in equality also means that their fees remain the same for both foreigners and Indians. Their main focus is on Hatha yoga, but they believe in using the strengths from all styles of yoga, and so enable students to practice multi-style yoga sessions and postures. They aim to train the students to enable them to teach all styles of yoga, promoting the unity that underpins their ideology. The asana training is not intensive and is designed to keep it as simple as possible.

The theory course focuses on achieving a holistic knowledge of yoga and gaining the skills necessary to teach yoga to others with awareness and understanding. Some very simple guidelines are there to help you create a sattvic (yogic) environment, useful to learn which all trainees need to adhere to. Trainees in residence are not allowed to consume drugs, alcohol, or cigarettes. They are also asked to maintain silence. You are expected to have a minimum daily practice: 30 minutes of asana, 10 minutes of pranayama, and 20 minutes of meditation are compulsory. You would get the golden opportunity to teach your fellow trainees under the supervision of a senior teacher. There is no special expertise that you require.

In fact, anyone, irrespective of their age, can join this yoga training program. Flexibility and strength are enhanced by your practice. The presence and guidance of a Master will deepen your yoga asana practice and awareness level. If you have been in yoga training for quite some time, this program would be an added advantage for you. Your awareness at the mental and physical level would be taken to a new high, and it would eventually enhance your yoga teaching skills for the future. This is a program aimed at developing yoga training skills and flexibility, equipping you with all the desired skills of a traditional yoga master.

The session will be conducted inside the yoga studios right in front of Varkala Beach, on the beach cliff. The retreat is tailored to prepare you to learn yoga asanas (postures) and meditation, using a step-by-step method underpinned by yoga philosophies and other related subjects. Throughout the program, they will endeavor to develop your understanding of the need for self-practice. By the end, you will have the ability and confidence to teach at both beginner and advanced levels.

Food

Mathatitu Yoga Ashram provides three Ayurvedic meals (vegetarian) every day included in the price. A balanced and nutritious diet forms the basis for the nourishment of the mind and body. Mathatitu Yoga Ashram offers the purest vegetarian food, three times a day, during your stay in the ashram. Carefully cooked foods with traditional ingredients offering amazing healing properties are provided to you in the correct proportion. They hire specially trained chefs for our yoga students and trainers.

Breakfast includes light and protein-rich foods such as porridge, bread-toast, salads, sprouts, nuts, along with tea, coffee, and fresh fruit juices. The lunch features a traditional Indian Ayurvedic Thali with rice, chapati, lentils, vegetables, salads, and yogurt.
