AYM is also known as Association of Yoga and Meditation and it provides certified yoga teacher training courses and retreat in Goa, India. The school is located on the beach at Love Temples Cottage, surrounded with breathtaking views of the beach. Your accommodation will be without air-conditioner and Wi-Fi or internet access will be only available according to the area.

Students who complete the training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).

Training details and information

  • 200+ hours of training in classical hatha yoga, asana, meditation, pranayama, methodology, history, philosophy, self-empowerment, mindful adjustments, self-care, and more (exceeds Yoga Alliance requirements).
  • Learn from professional educators with experience teaching diverse populations (2500+ hours combined facilitating training).
  • Join a supportive community structured so that each person can thrive while learning and growing in their practice.
  • Experience yoga in an authentic, inclusive, and receptive environment.
  • Learn and practice conscious communication techniques (including listening, asking compassionate questions, and direct yet kind responses).
  • The theory of Vinyasa, linking poses and transitions, will be introduced.
  • Asana practices every day that the training meets.
  • Practice teaching happens the very first week!

Curriculum

Techniques, Training, and Practice will comprise most of the training. It includes the general principles of teaching and practicing asanas, props and modifications, effective class sequencing, and an introduction to meditation and pranayama. In short, you will practice A LOT of Yoga!

Teaching methodology includes:

  • Teaching communication skills.
  • The business of yoga.
  • Teaching yoga to beginners and valuable advice on identifying and honing your teaching path and voice.

Anatomy and Physiology are essential components of Yoga teacher training. Aside from basic anatomy, we will explore the anatomy of Yoga poses, body structure, and healthy movement, how to teach students with injuries and illness, and introduce the subtle energy pathways. Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle, and Ethics for Yoga Teachers, including a mandatory daily personal practice for the first 30 minutes of class time.

Practicum Yoga teacher trainees will spend considerable time practicing newly developed skills on one another, with friends and family, and to volunteer students in a studio environment.
