The Training

Yoga Therapy Training allows one to learn and practice tools of yoga to experience the balance of body, mind, emotion, and spirit, which results in perfect health and renewed energy on an individual level. The practices of the disciplines of yoga, combined with a conducive atmosphere, lifestyle, and diet, bring convincing and at times astonishing benefits.

Some common health problems

There is a list of some of the common health issues that can be properly managed if the disciplines of yoga are maintained in daily life. They are - asthma, sinusitis, headache, migraine, short sightedness and long sightedness, hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, high and low bp, arthritis, common cold, hyper and hypo acidity, tonsillitis, indigestion, insomnia, constipation, colitis, gastro-enteritis, diabetes, obesity, arthritis, cervical spondylitis, back pain, slipped disc, sciatica, depression, nocturnal emission, impotence, vaginismus, prolapse, menstrual disorders, hernia, skin diseases, personality disorders and so on.

Some important information about the training

  • The training does not contradict any mechanism of modern medical science and other sciences of therapy but aims to co-exist, complement, collaborate, and confirm them.
  • For personal health and hygiene, aspirants can bring personal bed sheets, pillowcase, sleeping bag, or blanket.
  • Medical prescriptions, medicines must also be brought regularly.
  • Other personal things such as a torch, an umbrella, and a padlock, etc., may be needed during the stay.

Eligibility

  • Yoga Therapy Training is open to everyone above 12 years of age who wants to undergo any remedial approach through Yoga and above 18 years who wants to understand sound health and know the natural means to achieve this.
  • The participants above 12 years for yoga therapy treatment must be able to follow the instructions properly, and aspirants to learn yoga therapy must be above 18 years with sufficient experience of yoga practices, as well as regularity in the disciplines of Yoga.
  • The participants above 18 years to learn yoga therapy must have already completed a 200-hour yoga training course and, more importantly, should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in yoga either as a practitioner or a teacher, which can help them understand the mechanism of healing through yogic disciplines.
  • The participants must be able to practice the discipline of yoga, such as purity, punctuality, early waking up as prescribed, participation in the daily activities, and so on.
  • The participants should have a good command of the English language as this is the medium of education.
  • The participants must have medical fitness, physical as well as mental. In cases otherwise, you must detail the individual limitation along with the medical report.

Curriculum

The scheme of study

The training combines theoretical as well as practical aspects of yoga as to how they are helpful to improve the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. The curriculum combines important topics of yoga, guidelines based on lifestyle, and information on the application of yoga to health issues.

Important theoretical study

Philosophy of yoga and its meaning, aims of yoga, Sristi (Uinverse) according to yoga, human body (3 bodies, 5 elements, 5 Kosha, Prana, Mind, 5 Sense organs and 5 motor organs, Nadi, Chakra and Kundalini), selected topics from yoga Sutra to understand yoga psychology (Antahakaran, Chitta, Antarayah, Ishwara, Aum, 5 Kleshas and 8 limbs), how to use yoga practices on certain health conditions, brief study regarding how to design the yoga practices, how to practice, ethical guidelines and life style.

Important practices

The main practices come from Hatha yoga, which are blended with practices from Kriya yoga, Kundalini yoga, and Raja yoga. They are –

  • Asana - Postures of Hatha yoga such as preparatory movements of joints, muscles, and parts of the body, standing, supine, prone (backward, forward, spine twist), inversion, and balance, including that asana that are remedial at their intermediate level.
  • Yoga Therapy Training Pranayama - Udar Svashan, Vaksha Svashan, Griva Svashan, Yogic Svashan, Kapalabhati, Bhastrika, Nadi Shodhana, Bhramari and Ujjayi.
  • Mudra - Gesture of hands, fingers, and body to affect energy in the body.
  • Bandha - Practices of locking the energy in the body.
  • Satkarma - Practices for purification of the body in Yoga (Jala Neti).
  • Meditation - Fundamental practices of Yoga Nidra, yogic breathing with awareness, fundamental practices of developing awareness, Kaya asthairyam (stillness of body), awareness of natural breath, awareness of peace, antarmouna (inner silence) with awareness of natural sensory responses and awareness of natural thought process, developing awareness with mantra such as AUM and other relevant practices of meditation for healing.
