A domestic version of holiness, a sacred refuge, and a vibrating space to cultivate mental and physical balance, Almashala was born from a dream: to create a space where yoga isn’t just practiced but truly lived. It has a serene 250-square-meter space with a 100 sqm yoga shala flooded with natural light and designed to support your practice.

With a laminate floor, top-quality props including chairs, belts, bolsters, and more, they offer the ideal space to deepen your connection with yoga.

It’s not a villa, nor a resort. Almashala is a container for transformation - a space where yoga meets life. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or just beginning your journey, their shala is the perfect place to find balance, growth, and peace.

The Red Temple is the sacred space for meditations, while the chill out area is for reading, chatting, or studying. The garden is the peaceful frame of the space.

A paradise for the yogis, a place of bliss, peace, and discipline

The space design follows the Vastu philosophy, the Indian traditional system of architecture, a transcendental home design in harmony with nature.

The main entrance and the meditation area face the Nord East, the seat of consciousness, where Surya, the sun, rises. The fireplace is in the southeast area, which is under the influence of the Agni, the fire, where his heat activates the energy. The yoga shala is in the center, in the Brahma hall, surrounded by a vibrant spine of natural light.

Double twin room: Charming twin room with a handcrafted wooden bunk bed

This cozy twin room features a handmade wooden double bed bunk, blending comfort and charm. The room offers immediate access to the garden, toilet and shower facilities, and serene shala space.

A small window opens to the garden, filling the room with natural light and creating a peaceful atmosphere. The room is perfect for two friends, a couple, or a solo traveler open to sharing with a like-minded guest. Enjoy simplicity, connection, and tranquility in this thoughtfully designed space.

Room for two people, single bed accommodation: Warm attic with privacy, charm, and simplicity

Nestled in the quietest corner of the retreat, this small attic space offers a bit more privacy, making it a favorite among guests seeking a tranquil escape. Though not directly near the toilets, it’s perfect for those who don’t mind a short walk upstairs to enjoy the unique charm of this cozy haven.

The attic features comfortable single beds with wooden bases, a storage area for your clothes, and a small sofa nook - ideal for relaxing, reading, or simply unwinding in the peaceful atmosphere.

If you’re looking for a cozy and private space to recharge during your retreat, this charming attic is the perfect choice.

Shared dormitory for a maximum of eight people: Cozy dorm-style group room with comfort and privacy

Experience the warmth and connection of shared living in Almashala's beautifully crafted group room. Featuring handmade wooden bunk beds, this bright and inviting space combines simplicity and comfort.

Each bed is designed with privacy in mind, equipped with a curtain, a personal power outlet, and a small storage area for your belongings. Conveniently located near toilets and showers, the room offers everything you need for a restful and enjoyable stay. It is perfect for travellers seeking a safe and supportive environment with a touch of charm and practicality.

Retreat location

Almashala is strategically located. The Sintra reserve is a few steps away and is one of Portugal's most suggestive natural attractions. It offers infinite walking and trekking routes.

Sintra’s enchanted forests:

Just a short journey away, the mystical forest of Sintra provides an idyllic escape with its emerald canopies, serene trails, and timeless energy that invites introspection and calm. From Almashala's place, you can arrive at the beach by walking, passing through an enchanting path in the valley, or following the river and getting lost in the valley.

Food

A balanced and healthy diet is just as essential as regular practice. Ideally, a yogic diet emphasizes sattvic foods, which typically include fresh vegetables, grains, legumes, mild spices, and naturally sweet foods in moderation. According to Ayurveda, this diet is the most suitable for yogis, as it promotes mental clarity and fosters physical and emotional well-being.

In contrast to rajasic or tamasic foods, the meals that Almashala offers align with these principles. Most of their ingredients are sourced directly from their garden, and all recipes are inspired by a low-sugar dietary approach.

The following meals are included:
