This yoga immersion retreat in the beautiful Garden Route builds the practical foundations of yoga in a systematic way for beginners who want to establish a daily home practice. Intermediate students who have been doing yoga but have not established themselves well enough in their practice can equally benefit from this yoga retreat for beginners.
Senior citizens and students who are not comfortable practicing yoga in regular city classes find this yoga retreat a perfect opportunity to explore their body, breath, and mind in a safe environment. They welcome all students and customize the classes to their abilities and needs.
This yoga immersion retreat for beginners covers the daily practice of meditation, two yoga sessions, and one theory class. You will also have free time allowing you to relax, go for a walk in mother nature, read inspiring books from the library or just relax and reflect. They also offer private coaching or consultations with expert teachers during afternoon breaks.
In Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra, the eightfold path is called ashtanga, which literally means “eight limbs” (ashta=eight, anga=limb). These eight steps basically act as guidelines on how to live a meaningful and purposeful life. They serve as a prescription for moral and ethical conduct and self-discipline; they direct attention toward one’s health, and they help you to acknowledge the spiritual aspects of nature.

Instructors
Peter Townshend
Peter is the founder of Vala House and a registered 500RYT with Yoga Alliance. Peter teaches Classical yoga using the Vinyasa Krama system and Hatha yoga principles for all levels from beginners to advanced yogis. His teaching is rooted in both the lineage of Krishnamacharya and Swami Sivananda. His specific concentration is on yoga Nidra as taught by by Swami Satyananda Saraswati. Peter is also a registered RTT therapist, breathwork counsellor and life coach.

Vala House is set in a beautiful setting with lush gardens, fields, and views of the mountains. It sits on the edge of Knysna Forest, just twenty minutes to Knysna. It is also located twenty minutes to the sea at Brenton-on-Sea. Forest and coastal hikes nearby
