Accommodation
The Mitzpah AMC Hut is in the backcountry and is “off the grid” and offers:
- Backcountry hut lodging: Guests sleep in co-ed bunk rooms with individual bunks and mattresses.
- Rustic but “full-service” in season: During full-service season (early June through mid-October), the hut provides three wool blankets and one pillow — though bringing a sleeping bag (or liner) and extra pillowcase is still recommended.
- No electricity / minimal lighting: No overhead lighting or heating — each bunk has a small reading light. It’s a true “off-the-grid” experience.
- Shared common and dining space: The dining room doubles as a gathering space for overnight guests and day visitors. You can eat meals prepared by hut staff, refill water, grab hot drinks, or purchase limited snacks and gear (typically between 10 AM–5 PM).
- Carry-in / carry-out: As with all backcountry huts, you must pack out all trash and recyclables.
The hut dining room acts as a common space for overnight guests and day visitors. In this area you can:
- Chat with an AMC hut crew member or caretaker
- Eat meals prepared and served by hut staff (for overnight guests)
- Refill on water and hot drinks
- Purchase snacks, merchandise and limited gear from 10am to 5pm (cash encouraged; no mobile payment apps accepted)
Mizpah Spring Hut offers exactly the kind of rustic, grounding, nature-immersive environment that matches the spirit of your retreat: simple accommodations, shared meals and connection, quiet surroundings, and the sense of stepping away from everyday demands into a serene wilderness space.
Using the hut elevates the retreat from “just a hike” to a deeper, more restorative experience — allowing participants to disconnect from daily noise, reconnect with nature and community, and return to home with renewed energy and peace.
Program
SUP YO Adventures will begin the adventure on the historic Crawford Path, ascending 3.4 miles to the charming Mizpah Spring Hut (3,800 ft). Once you arrive, settle in and stretch out your muscles. You will have the option to continue hiking if you choose and keep heading on to Mount Pierce (4,312 ft) for stunning Presidential Range views. If you choose to opt out, you can stay back at the hut, relax, and prepare for a healthy heart dinner made by the AMC staff. After dinner, enjoy your time relaxing however you wish, with options to play a board game, stargaze, or enjoy a nature lecture from the AMC staff. Lights out at 22:00.
The second day begins with a 06:30 wake-up call, allowing you to greet the morning with tranquility and purpose. You will enjoy a hearty breakfast at 07:00, fueling you for the day ahead. Before the descent begins, SUP YO Adventures will gather everyone for a rejuvenating yoga stretch session, designed to awaken your body, ease any soreness from the hike, and center your mind. Once ready to go, SUP YO Adventures and the group will make the descent back to the trailhead, aiming to arrive back at the cars by 15:00.
Along the way, there will be time to savor the stunning views and reflect on the incredible journey.
SUP YO Adventures plans to arrive back at the cars by 15:00, giving you plenty of time to bask in the accomplishment and immerse yourself in this extraordinary experience. A perfect blend of adventure, mindfulness, and camaraderie, this retreat will leave you feeling recharged, inspired, and ready for your next journey.
