A deep study into the science of yoga Nidra
This retreat will blend the science, philosophy, and practical applications of yoga Nidra with the healing, restorative benefits that it offers to both body and mind. Healing comes when you can purify the subconscious mind, and when you learn to live in the present moment, rather than the past and future. A true practice of yoga Nidra develops the capacity for living life in awareness.
What is yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra, often referred to as “yogic sleep,” is a state of conscious relaxation wherein the body rests deeply, while the mind remains awake and aware. In this state, practitioners experience profound peace and rejuvenation, accessing layers of the subconscious mind for healing, transformation, and personal growth.
On the other side, yoga Nidra is a complete path that can actually lead behind the stages of consciousness directly to Turiya, a form of samadhi, which is the rediscovery of one's natural state of pure consciousness.
Yoga Nidra is not just about relaxation; it’s a powerful tool for reducing stress, improving sleep, enhancing self-awareness, and fostering emotional balance. In its therapeutic form, it is used to promote healing from trauma, anxiety, and burnout, making it an essential practice for modern life.
What you will learn in this workshop
This retreat and workshop offers a relaxing and comprehensive journey to deepen your knowledge, refine your skills, and, for those who wish so, it can also provide you with the tools to share this profound practice with others.
The science of yoga Nidra
Understanding the mechanisms behind yoga Nidra can enhance the depth of your practice. In this retreat and workshop, you will explore the scientific aspects of the practice, including:
- Neurological benefits: How yoga Nidra activates the parasympathetic nervous system, inducing a “rest and digest” state that reduces cortisol and promotes healing
- Brainwave states: The role of alpha, theta, and delta brainwaves in the deeper stages of relaxation and how these states contribute to stress reduction, memory consolidation, and emotional healing
- Mind-body connection: The physical and psychological benefits of deep relaxation and its impact on emotional well-being, mental clarity, and overall health
- Neuroscience of trauma: How yoga Nidra can help regulate the nervous system and facilitate trauma release by reprogramming subconscious patterns
The structure of a yoga Nidra session
Learn how to guide and experience a yoga Nidra session, which typically consists of the following key components:
- Preparation and intention setting (sankalpa): This involves creating a personal affirmation or intention that will serve as a guiding force throughout the session
- Body scan: A methodical relaxation of each part of the body, helping to bring awareness and release tension
- Breath awareness and pranayama: Techniques that deepen relaxation and focus the mind, and also use the breath, enhancing the healing process
- Visualization and Sankalpa integration: Using imagery and well-guided visualizations to explore the subconscious and manifest positive changes
- Integration and grounding: Bringing the experience of deep relaxation into conscious awareness to ensure its lasting effects
Practical applications and techniques
Explore practical tools that can be incorporated into your daily life and yoga teaching:
- Stress management: How yoga Nidra can reduce stress and anxiety, supporting mental health and emotional well-being
- Trauma healing: Techniques for using yoga Nidra to release trauma, with special focus on safety and sensitivity

Radasi’s deepest passion, which arises from a personal practice that spans 25 years, is to live a life immersed in yoga, traditional Tantra, meditation, dance, devotion, and ritual. After completing 10 years of study to become a yoga teacher, she now successfully guides others to the path of teaching and yoga, which provides her with immeasurable joy.
Yorgos Aryavrat
From the early age of seventeen, Yorgos began meditating, pursuing spiritual efforts and deepening his studies in Orthodox mysticism and Gnostic Christianity. On the path of awareness he has always been interested in direct experiencing and understanding the inner life than perusing through intellect and reading. These early years in spirituality initiated Yorgos into practices that involved kriyas, Yoga Nidra and yogic methods similar to those of Raja yoga, where he devoted much of his leisure time to meditation.
