Alam Kita bungalows

Alam Kita has six beautiful, traditionally designed bungalows, spread all over the property. Together, they form this oasis of tranquility. During this retreat, you will be staying in a bungalow at Alam Kita Retreat. The traditional Javanese wooden bungalows are designed for two people and all have an (outside) bathroom, so you can watch the beautiful starry sky while taking a shower.

The bungalows were designed to be a serene and private space, so if you want to take a moment for yourself after a workshop or just to relax because you feel like it, such a space is perfect. Take your dinner on the porch, read a book, and enjoy a calming shower.

Program

“The system” that all live in

From the moment you’re born, you enter “the system.” It is something that everyone gets squeezed into - automatically, without even thinking about it. Your parents make sure of it, as well as your family, your friends, the neighbors, the teachers at school, and later, the instructors in your studies.

Everything you learn in this system then seems “normal.” But more and more young people are becoming aware that they don’t want to be forced into this system - and that everything you’re taught isn’t as “normal” as it first appears. Quite rightly, many start to resist, enduring all the consequences that entail doing so, as well as a lot of stress.

Want to feel more at home in the world? This retreat is tailor-made for you.

For these aware young people, Alam-Kita has created a customized retreat: a seven-day youth retreat wherein you'll work on yourself, individually or together with a friend. You’ll be guided by Margo, the owner of Alam Kita, a remarkable woman with lots of life experience and is young at heart.

Margo’s approach is always intuitive; she senses what is needed and what you need. Sometimes, that’s a listening ear or a good conversation. Other times, it might be an energy healing or a ceremony. She works from inner-child issues, because that’s often where today’s blocks and limitations begin.

Together, step by step and with daily guidance, you’ll break through those blocks so that you can be freer - with all the positive effects that it brings. You’ll also practice yoga and meditation exercises (no experience required).

Do you ever ask yourself the following questions?

  • What are you doing here?
  • Why are you here?
  • Why does this not feel right?
  • It feels like you don’t belong here. Why is that?
  • You feel different, and you want things to be different too. But how?
  • You are not happy, no matter how hard you try. How come?

Then Alam-Kita warmly invites you to Indonesia. They’d love to help you rediscover yourself and feel at home in this world. And because they understand that many young people don’t have a lot to spend yet, they’ve adjusted the prices for this retreat.

Retreat location

Karimunjawa Island

Karimunjawa is a gem in the Java Sea that has not yet been discovered by many tourists. On this island, you can still enjoy the natural surroundings, white beaches, clear blue waters, colorful fish, and beautiful coral.

This small archipelago is 80 km north of Jepara, Indonesia, and only five of the 27 islands are inhabited. The park is named after the largest island of Karimun Jawa and consists of a total of 110,000 hectares. Around the islands are beautiful reefs to explore while diving and snorkeling, varying from 15 to 40 meters deep.

In addition to the beautiful underwater world, Karimunjawa is rich in beautiful, authentic landscapes, pearly white beaches, mangrove forests, rainforest, and various amounts of tropical animals both in the sea and on the island. With a little luck, you will see sea turtles and even dolphins!
