Are you ready to take your yoga practice to the next level? Are you looking for a meaningful way of contributing to society? Now is the time to step forward and start sharing your passion for yoga with your friends and your community. The comprehensive curriculum of this 200-hour intensive course is approved and certified by the renowned international Yoga Alliance. This yoga teacher training is a heartfelt invitation to turn your passion into a meaningful profession.
This teacher training course in Bali is hosted by Samyama, a small family-style Italian-run retreat center at the southern edge of Ubud. Samyama is located in a quiet neighborhood and enclosed by two small rivers, palm trees, and the typical Balinese rice paddies.
The venue, nestled in a lush tropical setting, provides a peaceful escape, while still being within reach of the bustling town. Samyama offers the choice between budget accommodation in a simple all-female dormitory with shared bathrooms, or a more luxurious stay in the next-door villa in deluxe single studios with a private bathroom and air-conditioning, or a semi-private loft with a shared bathroom. All villa rooms have a shared kitchen and access to a shared swimming pool.
Your stay at Samyama comes with regular room-cleaning service, free Wi-Fi and drinking water.
Students who complete their training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).
This training transmits the essence of classical Hatha yoga: Sun Salutations, Asana, Pranayama, meditation, and practical yogic philosophy. Its systematic structure is tailored to the needs of prospective teachers, covering alignment of postures, voice training, practicum assignments, purification, Thai-Yoga massage and much more. The course empowers beginners and advanced aspirants alike to develop a solid self-practice and to grow into confident yoga instructors.
The cornerstones are energy-based Hatha Yoga, Spiritual Heart Meditation, and the non-dual vision of Advaita Vedanta. The aspiration is to synchronize mind and heart, to combine rational understanding with deep-going practice, and to develop present moment awareness. Authenticity, inspiration, passion, and enthusiasm are the hallmarks.
The training is led by Kirsten & Burkhard, the directors of the Akasha Yoga Academy, and their inspiring team. They both teach Hatha, Hatha Flow, Yin, Pranayama, meditation, and Yogic philosophy in retreats, workshops, and teacher training courses around the globe.
Both are experienced registered Yoga teachers at the highest level of the international Yoga Alliance (E-RYT-500). They are passionate practitioners of the Yogic tradition and are sharing their experience and knowledge in a very personal, authentic, and cordial way.
The educational curriculum of this fully accredited Teacher Training meets and exceeds the official standards of Yoga Alliance. Upon graduation, you will receive an officially recognized Yoga Instructor Certificate with which you can sign-up as a Registered Yoga Teacher with the renowned Yoga Alliance (RYT-200).
Upon arrival and departure, no yoga classes will take place. The first day serves for orientation, introduction, and administration, whereas the last day contains the final exam and the graduation.
Burkhard holds a master’s degree in psychology and alternative education from the Free University of Berlin, where his thorough exploration of Ken Wilber´s Integral Theory culminated in a thesis on holistic development. In 2001, Burkhard began to explore yoga in India. He has dedicated more than 5,000 hours to the study of classical Hatha yoga, Kundalini yoga, and yogic philosophy. He started his meditation practice following the Vipassana style of Theravada Buddhism, and has practiced under Ajaan Tong Sirimangalo in Northern Thailand.
Kirsten’s yoga endeavors started in 2001 in India, where she was introduced to Sivananda Hatha yoga. She is the co-founder of the Akasha Yoga Academy where she develops educational programs and presents teacher training courses in Bali and Thailand. Following her persistent passion for yoga, she went through a comprehensive three-year full-time education in classical Hatha and Kundalini yoga in Thailand. Her meditation practice is based on the non-dualistic teachings of Advaita Vedanta and Sahajananda’s Yoga of the Spiritual Heart.
Devdas is trained to teach meditation, pranayama, and Hatha yoga. Before joining the Akasha Yoga Academy team, he taught yoga for twelve years in several major cities of India. He helped set up and run several yoga and meditation centers, and has been sharing the joy of Seva and Kirtan all around the globe; in America, Italy, Portugal, India, Bali, Thailand, Mexico, and beyond!
The training takes place at Samyama Meditation Center, Ubud, Bali. The lively city center is just a 20-minute walk away from Ubud and is the cultural hub and yoga capital of Bali. You will love this legendary exotic town, with its impressive traditional temples, art galleries, organic restaurants, colorful markets, massage parlors, and more.
