Accommodation
This teacher training course in Bali is hosted by Samyama, a small family-style Italian-run retreat center at the southern edge of Ubud. Samyama is located in a quiet neighborhood and enclosed by two small rivers, palm trees, and the typical Balinese rice paddies.
The venue, nestled in a lush tropical setting, provides a peaceful escape, while still being within reach of the bustling town. Samyama offers the choice between budget accommodation in a simple all-female dormitory with shared bathrooms, or a more luxurious stay in the next-door villa in deluxe single studios with a private bathroom and air-conditioning, or a semi-private loft with a shared bathroom. All villa rooms have a shared kitchen and access to a shared swimming pool.
Your stay at Samyama comes with regular room-cleaning service, free Wi-Fi and drinking water.

Content
This training transmits the essence of classical Hatha yoga: Sun Salutations, Asana, Pranayama, meditation, and practical yogic philosophy. Its systematic structure is tailored to the needs of prospective teachers, covering alignment of postures, voice training, practicum assignments, purification, Thai-Yoga massage and much more. The course empowers beginners and advanced aspirants alike to develop a solid self-practice and to grow into confident yoga instructors.
Approach
The cornerstones are energy-based Hatha Yoga, Spiritual Heart Meditation, and the non-dual vision of Advaita Vedanta. The aspiration is to synchronize mind and heart, to combine rational understanding with deep-going practice, and to develop present moment awareness. Authenticity, inspiration, passion, and enthusiasm are the hallmarks.
Teachers
The training is led by Kirsten & Burkhard, the directors of the Akasha Yoga Academy, and their inspiring team. They both teach Hatha, Hatha Flow, Yin, Pranayama, meditation, and Yogic philosophy in retreats, workshops, and teacher training courses around the globe.
Both are experienced registered Yoga teachers at the highest level of the international Yoga Alliance (E-RYT-500). They are passionate practitioners of the Yogic tradition and are sharing their experience and knowledge in a very personal, authentic, and cordial way.
Credentials
The educational curriculum of this fully accredited Teacher Training meets and exceeds the official standards of Yoga Alliance. Upon graduation, you will receive an officially recognized Yoga Instructor Certificate with which you can sign-up as a Registered Yoga Teacher with the renowned Yoga Alliance (RYT-200).

- The schedule applies Monday to Saturday.
- Saturday afternoons end early at 17:00 with a workshop on the specific topic of the week.

- The schedule includes weekly chanting practice and occasional Q&A sessions with the lead teachers in some evenings.
Upon arrival and departure, no yoga classes will take place. The first day serves for orientation, introduction, and administration, whereas the last day contains the final exam and the graduation.

Instructors
Burkhard Langemann
Burkhard holds a master’s degree in psychology and alternative education from the Free University of Berlin, where his thorough exploration of Ken Wilber´s Integral Theory culminated in a thesis on holistic development. In 2001, Burkhard began to explore yoga in India. He has dedicated more than 5,000 hours to the study of classical Hatha yoga, Kundalini yoga, and yogic philosophy. He started his meditation practice following the Vipassana style of Theravada Buddhism, and has practiced under Ajaan Tong Sirimangalo in Northern Thailand.
Kirsten Reiss
Kirsten’s yoga endeavors started in 2001 in India, where she was introduced to Sivananda Hatha yoga. She is the co-founder of the Akasha Yoga Academy where she develops educational programs and presents teacher training courses in Bali and Thailand. Following her persistent passion for yoga, she went through a comprehensive three-year full-time education in classical Hatha and Kundalini yoga in Thailand. Her meditation practice is based on the non-dualistic teachings of Advaita Vedanta and Sahajananda’s Yoga of the Spiritual Heart.
Devdas Sahaja
Devdas is trained to teach meditation, pranayama, and Hatha yoga. Before joining the Akasha Yoga Academy team, he taught yoga for twelve years in several major cities of India. He helped set up and run several yoga and meditation centers, and has been sharing the joy of Seva and Kirtan all around the globe; in America, Italy, Portugal, India, Bali, Thailand, Mexico, and beyond!
Retreat location
The training takes place at Samyama Meditation Center, Ubud, Bali. The lively city center is just a 20-minute walk away from Ubud and is the cultural hub and yoga capital of Bali. You will love this legendary exotic town, with its impressive traditional temples, art galleries, organic restaurants, colorful markets, massage parlors, and more.

Food
Samyama has a happy healthy plant-based restaurant that offers freshly prepared meals with mostly organic and local ingredients all day long. The course tuition includes vegetarian breakfast that usually consists of a nourishing grain base with fresh tropical fruit, nuts and dry fruit, and nut milk on all course days.
The center additionally offers a convenient option for a meal plan for lunch that covers the entire course at a very fair price. The vegetarian lunch buffet consists of a variety of vegetable stews, curries, legumes and grains, and a choice of salads. Lunch is served Monday to Saturday. Things to do (optional)
When you are in Bali, it is highly recommended to take the traditional Balinese massage. This therapeutic healing method has existed in Bali for many centuries and is influenced by Thai yoga massage and Chinese acupressure.
The relaxing oil massage relieves muscular tension and rejuvenates the entire body system. Other favorites include facials, flower baths, and beauty treatments with organic products from the nearby jungle.
On Saturdays classes end in the afternoon, and Sundays are completely free, allowing for exciting day trips into the stunning tropical nature. The paradise island of Bali offers a great variety of breath-taking excursions. Bali is located just south of the equator and is one of the 17000 islands of Indonesia. It features lush tropical vegetation, big volcano mountains, and countless beaches with big waves and coral reefs.
Possible excursions can take you to the coast where you can enjoy surfing the famous waves of Bali. Other popular beach activities include stand up paddling, snorkeling, and diving. The nearby mountains invite for a sunrise volcano tour, hikes to paradise waterfalls, downhill biking, as well as visits to tropical jungle farms, producing cacao, vanilla, coffee, mangos and much more.

Please book your flight to arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Akasha Yoga Academy will pick you up from the airport.
For their on-site accommodation options, arrival day is the same day as the first day of the course. The course will begin at 1 p.m. so they advise making arrangements to ensure your arrival prior to this time. Departure from their on-site accommodation is scheduled for the day after graduation (preferably in the evening).

- A reservation requires a deposit of 14% of the total price.
- The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
- The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
