The Vikasa method
Vikasa Yoga Retreat's signature foundation yoga teacher training starts with a strong physical foundation, evolving into energetic, mental, emotional, and spiritual practice.
Key principles and rules of yoga are taught, allowing the teachers and dedicated practitioners to gain in-depth understanding, knowledge, and insight into the methodology and the effects of yoga practice. Vikasa Yoga Retreat's approach encourages integration with society in a modern context. Their teaching modules each represent a pillar of the Vikasa yoga method: mind, body, and energy. These three pillars, when taught together, create a well-rounded yoga education with an emphasis on the development of the individual.
The unique curriculum that has been tried and tested over the years, ever-evolving with lasting results. Vikasa Yoga Retreat's approach is further defined by the 5 shells or layers known as “koshas” physical, energetic, emotional, mental, and spiritual. They like to think of their curriculum as two “hands” of learning under two structural pillars practice and theory. The branches of topics vary from asana and meditation through methodology and application. This method of learning has taken years to refine and now provides a stable platform for learning on mental and physical levels.

Konstantin Miachin
Kosta’s journey into yoga has taken him to the far reaches of the world, from remote Himalayan ashrams, to his initiation by a master monk in a sacred Sak-Yant ceremony in Thailand. His passion has led him to search out for his own personal development throughout the world. Kosta's years of worldly experience have led to deeper understanding of yoga as a personal journey and spiritual evolution.
Niki Lundberg
When Niki first discovered yoga she fell in love with the way it moved her closer to her inner self. From that day, her life changed completely. Yoga has taken her on a beautiful journey from Sweden into the world. She now travels the world teaching classes, workshops, retreats, and training in Thailand, India, Australia, and Europe. Niki believes that yoga can be life-changing, both on an individual and a collective level. With yoga, you can find your way back to yourselves, to discover who you truly are, and from there, your potential is limitless.
Mikey Lazano
Michael Lazano first came to yoga as a means for increasing flexibility, but after discovering how much more there is to yoga, quickly fell in love with the practice, which actually happened on a visit to Vikasa for a yoga holiday; he came back and completed both his 200 and 300-hour teacher trainings here, before eventually returning permanently, to live in beautiful Koh Samui and take a place on the Vikasa team. Although Michael only found yoga later on in life, in many ways he was born into the lifestyle, and raised as a vegetarian with a strong spiritual and moral compass.
Alexey Vyazovov
A truly passionate and dedicated yogi, Alex began his journey into yoga over 20 years ago and committed to realizing the essence of yoga beyond physical practice. He apprenticed with a yoga master and remained fully immersed in a wide range of yogic practices for several years. Alex later received spiritual initiation and started to share the knowledge of self-realized yogis along with his own experience and insights received during his apprenticeship and years of daily study and meditations. Alex is a yoga philosophy specialist and teaches the philosophy module of this training.
Michael Murray
While initially drawn to the physical aspects of yoga, Michael remains stimulated by the interplay between the physical practice and the more spiritual, inner journey that can be opened up by the physical practice. In pursuit of this interplay, Michael teaches strong and flowy Vinyasa classes focussed both on correct alignment and intuitive movement and also facilitates discussions and lectures on emotional intelligence and personal development.
Grant Latimer
Grant embodies a love for yoga that has spanned over 20 years. First through mantra meditation then asana, pranayama, dynamic meditations and sound healing. He completed his RYT500 with Vikasa and has spent several years living and teaching in Bali, China, and assisting on Vikasa’s 200 hour trainings since 2019. Grant’s passion is to share his knowledge of asana development, meditation and hand-balance to ignite others to develop and grow. Through yoga may you all experience peace of mind and inspire others to seek a path of truth.
Demi Chandra
Demi Chandra teaches yoga as a means of embracing all parts of ourselves, seen and unseen. Her asana style is woven with influences from dance, circus training and functional movement. She is a proponent of classical Tantric philosophy, shadow work and lila - the state of sacred play. Demi began her teaching journey seven years ago in California and has since accrued 1,500 hours of Yoga Alliance teacher training hours, though she takes every opportunity to sit in a seat of studentship.
Daniel Rama
Rama is a renowned international yoga and movement coach who has dedicated his life to helping individuals of all levels access challenging skills and achieve their full potential. With a deep understanding of functional anatomy and years of experience living in a Hatha Yoga ashram, Rama has honed his expertise and developed a unique approach to teaching. Through his teachings, Rama empowers his students to explore and develop their physical and mental capabilities. He believes that yoga and movement are powerful tools for personal growth and transformation.
