Saul is an Ayahuasquero and Huachumero, a plant medicine shaman born in the rural community of Ccapacchapi in the district of Pitumarca, Canchis province, Peru. He comes from a long lineage of Pacha Illa (Light of the Universe) spiritual masters, a heritage that has shaped his profound connection to plant medicine and spiritual healing. As a Pacha Illa lineage holder, he walks the path of the Earthkeeper and holds all those who come before him as dear and sacred.

Raul is the son of the great Q’ero healer Maestro Alejandro Apaza, and are pampa mesayoq paqos – those who heal by working with energies and sacred spirits in nature. His family comes from the Q’ero nation, a tribe of approximately 1500 people who lived in the Andean highlands at altitudes above 15,000 feet in order to escape the conquistadors. They lived in isolation from the rest of the world, during the Spanish occupation for many centuries hiding in caves in high altitudes until their “discovery” in 1949. As one of the guardians of the Apaza lineage, he lovingly holds the responsibility.
