      Beautiful, serene, life affirming

The week had a lovely rhythm with yoga, art and delicious meals but with plenty of time to explore Hydra. Hydra is such a restful place with no cars but with a lovely buzz from the bustle of the port. I had such a special time and am trying to hold onto the magic now I’m back home.

      A wonderful experience

This was my first ever retreat, so I didn't know what to expect and have no other retreats to compare it with, but here are my honest impressions, which I hope will be useful to others. First, Hydra is a beautiful island, and it is a treat to be able to stay here for a week to really explore the island, and not just stay a couple of hours like so many tourists do. The streets are easy to get lost in, but by the end of the week you find your way around. The house is set up high in the town, which means it has amazing views from the upper terrace where we had breakfast. Lunch and the art classes were on the lower terrace, which has the most comfortable swinging egg chairs if you want a quiet read in the afternoon. The food is great - healthy, but also with a few treats from time to time. The yoga classes were easy to follow, with quite a lot of mediation - the ones I go to at my gym are definitely tougher, but given this was every morning, and included people of all ages and levels, this was not a problem for me. The art classes were varied. To be honest I was more interested just in having the time and space to draw and paint rather than learning new techniques, but I more or less filled my sketchbook over the week and came back with a lot of work I was happy with. Skyrah and Angelika are both charming, and I was very lucky that the other 5 participants were all lovely, engaging and interesting people, from 3 continents and ages ranging from 29 to 64.

      Worst yoga retreat experience…

The guest yoga teacher (Pagona) was great and the accommodation was decent. Also I was picked up from the port at my arrival.

The location is good as well as the feeling of the house, which is well decorated and has a lot of potential.

      Skyrah is a wonderful teacher.

I learned how to develop my own yoga practice. Skyrah's classes were sensitively pitched to suit all students. She gives clear unhurried instructions.

Artemis Retreats - a lovely week in the perfect setting.

I had the most beautiful time at Artemis Retreat. The old house has an incredible vibe, Angelika and Skyrah are both wonderful teachers and thanks to Angelika's art classes I was able to finally achieve landscapes and “city views”. The food was delightful: fresh and homemade, so it added to the overall experience. I’d also mention the small classes which make this retreat so special - I met lovely people there.

      An inspirational and artistic escape

This was a magical retreat. Skyrah and Angelika went above and beyond, making us feel at home in their astonishing old mansion on the hillside. The yoga, art and food were all amazing. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back again!
