The service experienced with Floating Leaf Eco-Luxury Retreat was outstanding! Mikaku & Putu (the owners), were more than obliging to assist and quick to respond to any queries we had from the onset, throughout our stay and long after our departure.
After 5 nights in the hustle and bustle of Seminyak, we were very eager to rest and relax at Floating Leaf. Some of the many services we enjoyed included, a couples 90 minute spa treatment and steam room therapy, amazing healthy and organic meals, delicious cocktails, traditional Balinese dancers, cooling off in the healing pool, and great conversations with the team and fantastic guests (who we dined with for most meals).
The Retreat itself is structurally awe-inspiring. What we loved even more, was that it was built with environmentally friendly materials and all aspects of the retreat are eco-friendly. Floating Leaf’s commitment to the Banjar community is also very prominent, with a number of initiatives in place including free education and a donations program.
The Retreat is located amongst some great areas to explore including, Keramas beach - for the surf lovers, Sukawati markets – for those wanting a bit more of an authentic market shopping experience (outside of Kuta and Seminyak), and Sanur – with some lovely shops, amazing restaurants/cafes and a night food market (for those adventurous to try some traditional local food).
With only 10 rooms on-site, the retreat is ideal for those wanting a more intimate place to stay. It is perfect for small groups and those wanting to join an organised program – such as a yoga or surf retreat. Or for those that are wanting to create their own specialized program with the team, such as an incentive trip or corporate getaway – I know I will certainly be pushing for one of these with my company ;) Even for the single travelers and couples, whichever way you have it - you cannot go wrong with Floating Leaf.
Thank you again Mikaku, Putu and the team – we loved our time with you and can’t wait to return!

My stay at Floating Leaf Retreat was like having soul hugs every day. I arrived at Floating Leaf on December 30th and stayed through January 4, 2017. I was with a group of friends celebrating the new year in Bali. Mikaku and Putu, the owners, are on-site and so sweet and accommodating. They take great pride in their beautiful retreat center and it shows in all of the beautiful details around the property - the quiet reflection spaces, the social spaces, the waterfalls and pool area are peaceful and comfortable. The rest of the staff at Floating Leaf is also fantastic. Better service than most 5 Star ‘chain’ hotels I have stayed at in the past. They helped us book several outings off property.
Location: Floating Leaf is about 40 minutes from the airport which is great after traveling 20+ hours to get to Bali. The location is central to all of the must-see places on a first visit to Bali. Ubud is about 25-30 minutes away by car. The beach town of Sanur is about 25-30 minutes. There is also a black sand beach about 10-15 minutes walk from the retreat.
Rooms: I booked a garden view room away from the central pool/dining area and it was quiet and clean. The bathroom was mostly outdoors which was nice. Open air showers always feel more tropical and luxurious! My friends booked a pool view room which was circular (very cool architecture!) with an open air bathroom. A/C worked well so we could sleep comfortably and there were also ceiling fans. We didn’t spend much time in our rooms since there were so many beautiful places to rest and relax on property.
Food: We ate on property most days. There are delicious options and all the food is fresh and prepared with great care. Fresh smoothies every morning and a great variety of options available for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack. I’m not a vegetarian but all of the vegetarian dishes were so good that I could have converted!
Spa: I booked 1 hour massages every day of my stay and they were fantastic. Desak was able to work though my tired/sore muscles with expertise and care. I felt absolutely refreshed by the end of the week thanks to Desak’s magic technique!
Yoga: We booked a yoga teacher to come 3 days of our stay. Krishna was a great teacher and he lead us through some challenging but enlightening yoga classes. The yoga studio is on the top floor of the retreat center with beautiful rice paddy and sea views – I could have done yoga all day in this space!
I would highly recommend staying at this beautiful retreat center. It was exactly the way I wanted to bring in the new year surrounded by old friends (and new!). The owners hosted a wonderful New Year’s Eve party with games and music and a buffet of delicious Balinese dishes. It was truly a magical week at Floating Leaf Resort.

This small , boutique, eco oasis will wow you from the start. The design is open to let nature in and all the rooms are stunning. There are lounge areas, an amazing pool , a long communal table in the restaurant so you'll never feel alone, private spaces to read, journal or meditate when you want to be alone, and last but not least- a staff that will quickly become family.
DO wander up to the many patios on the top floor for stunning sunrises and sunsets, take the 7 am yoga class in the amazing open air shala , eat the veggie spring rolls, and have an amazing spa treatment. As a massage snob I can assure you that this will be one of the best you've ever had- just do it. All their tours have been well thought out and are off the beaten tourist path. Mikaku and Putu will show you the real Bali from a local perspective. The "super secret " waterfall day trip was a once in a lifetime experience. Bravo Floating Leaf- you have officially rocked my world! A million thanks.

I have noting but good things to say about The Floating Leave Resort and my experience there. I held a yoga retreat with my students and we were taken care of from the first moment we arrived (foot massages for everyone!) to the moment we walked out the door on our last day. The owners and staff were very helpful with all our needs any time of day. Mikaku and Putu made us feel right at home and gave us tips on where to go and what to see. Mikaku also shared with our group a bit of Balinese history and culture which made being in Bali feel a little more special. We loved the unique resort and the yoga sala on the top floor was perfect for our morning and afternoon yoga practices. We ran all our own classes but there was yoga offered with one of their teachers at other times. The food was wonderful and healthy and the resort is very clean. I could go on and on about the staff - they went above and beyond to make sure all the guests were comfortable and happy and they were also very flexible when we made changes. I actually got very sick at one point and Putu, Mikaku's wife, took very good care of me. The beach is about a 10 minute walk and their drivers are available to take you to any of the nearby towns and beaches. The pool is great place to hang out if you want to unwind and I got an amazing massage. We participated in a water purification ceremony and hiked to beautiful waterfalls (a bit challenging but worth it!). I recommend The Floating Leaf to anyone that wants a peaceful and nourishing holiday and to any yoga teacher that wants to take a group and feel taken care of.
I am so grateful for Floating Leaf Eco Resort and for the enlightening and transformational time that I spent there. It truly is a sacred space to heal body, mind & spirit! The owners and staff at Floating Leaf provided organic, whole food prepared with love that nourished my body. They also provided healers to heal my spirit and mind as well as facilitated trips to sacred spaces such as the water temple to cleanse and replenish my soul. I felt completely safe and cared for while at Floating Leaf. Every detail was anticipated and taken care of. Our group saw immense healing and transformation while there. I highly recommend Floating Leaf as a retreat destination for anyone seeking profound healing and growth! I will definitely return to Floating Leaf to be nourished in all aspects of my life!
Floating Leaf is an inspired location for a spiritual and yoga retreat in Bali. It is set in the rice fields away from the busyness of Ubud. The building is open and spacious with bathrooms open to the sky. The food is healthy, tasty and colorful. The owners Putu and Mikaku live on site and were always helpful with suggestions of special places to visit, shop, snorkel and anything we asked for. Putu made appointments for us to see local healers with profound messages. The resort has it's own spa with massages and the best facial I've ever had in my life. There is also a yoga studio on the third floor with 360 degree views of the green landscape. When you go - ask for a yoga class with Krishna, He was so kind and knowledgeable. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
I stayed at the Floating Leaf during a yoga retreat with a group from Los Angeles. What a beautiful place this is.
Owners Putu and Mikaku did a fantastic job building the resort, but most importantly, creating an ambience of peace, health and eco-luxury. The rooms were clean, modern, fully air-conditioned. The decor was "Bali modern chic."
The resort is surrounded by rice paddies and their own fruit and vegetable garden. The rice paddies are subsidized to local communities, and Putu and Mikaku are teaching these communities about the environment and how to be more "green" to help save our planet.
The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Always ready to help and engage in conversation.
Mikaku and Putu stopped by to check on our group once a day, which is a refreshing personal touch.
The yoga roof deck is beautiful, peaceful and it gives you a 360-degree view of the surrounding areas.
Our group had an incredible, memory-filled, unforgettable time in Bali, and the Floating Leaf had much to do with that.
I highly recommend this place!

Floating Leaf is just wonderful. Exclusive, beautiful, small and eco-friendly with yoga at sunrise, spa treatments on command, delicious food with the freshest fruits and vegetables, relaxing pool and cars available to take you to the beach, into town, or on excursions to visit some of the delights the island offers. I had an amazing physical, mental and spiritual experience. I'd like to give it a 10-star rating and all of them gold! Mikaku and Putu are wonderfully welcoming. We felt like their personal guests and all the staff are equally attentive and helpful. Thank you Mikaku and Putu, may all your guests appreciate your wonderful place and enjoy it as much as I did.
Our room was clean, soap, body wash, towels and face cloth provided. The staff cook amazing meals. They even had music and dancers entertain us one night during our meal. Putu puts a lot of effort to create food for gluten free clients. There is always a good vibe while at the Floating Leaf, surrounded by rice fields, it is.
Hi just wanted 2 let u know I stayed 5 days at Floating leaf in Bali in February 2016 and it was a most enjoyable experience. The staff are very lovely the food great and the owners went out of their way 2 help with any requests you had promptly and with a smile. No problem was too hard to solve and they all work very hard at making sure your felt welcome. The food was delicious and as an eco Retreat they think out of the box of consumerism by trying hard to truly stick to their beliefs of trying to make Bali and the world a better place by utilizing and recycling and only using the resources and replacing them back into the soil air and environment wherever possible. I take my hat off to them all and totally recommend a stay at this friendly eco Retreat hotel will hopefully change the way you think even if small steps to help make the environment and world a better place to live.

What a spectacular place. Wow is an understatement. Being that I'm fairly well traveled, I feel that I can say that Floating Leaf is one of those unique places in the world that feels completely connected to the surrounding world while treating every guest to a feast of sensations; visually, gastronomically, auditorily, socially.
Buildings that are there, and yet not... The open air spaces that meld with nature, allowing the breezes and wildlife through. Gardens that merge horticulture with agriculture and form beauty wherever you look. Sandwiched between the ocean and Mt Agung and surrounded by rice fields, there is beauty beyond as well.
The sounds that travel though lead you to want to explore the area... from the hard-working farmers to the chanting of Hindu monks, from the pounding surf of the Indian Ocean to that rooster.
Mikaku and Putu invite you into their home, and treat you as a longtime member of the family. Their staff became friends, Benn, Alex, "Elvis", and everyone take care to share their island with you.
The food is beyond description. Words do not exist to describe how good the food is. Eka and her team use locally gardened produce for stunning gastronomic delights, day after day!
I feel so lucky for my time in Bali and that Floating Leaf was our home base. When returning to the island, I now have a home to return to.
I have spent the last 15 years traveling the world giving seminars and retreats and I can honestly say that in all of that time Floating Leaf has been my favourite place to stay.
Mikaku and Putu have created something very special at Floating Leaf. The stunning resort is perfectly situated away from tourists and accessible to anywhere and anything you might want to go to. We took our group on daily excursions and and always felt a sense of coming home when we returned to the resort.
The team at Floating Leaf was amazing. Everyone of the staff felt like family and they took such amazing care of all of us. I couldn't imagine anything they could have done that would have made our stay better. They were simply, perfect.
If you are looking for beautiful place to stay and experience Bali then Floating Leaf is what you want. Although you may be far from home you will feel like this is your home and the staff is your family. I will be coming back to Bali and to Floating Leaf thanks to the amazing experience that we had there. Thank you.
My experience at Floating Leaf was one-of-a-kind. Yes, there is breathtaking scenery, great amenities, and a beautifully designed Eco Resort. What stands out most is that Floating Leaf felt like home. Mikaku, Putu and their team made all of us feel like family. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a foot massage and refreshing drink, followed by a delicious homemade meal. Each morning, we woke up to fresh coffee and an energizing breakfast to power our crazy day. We spent our time in Bali doing crazy and fun things, such as surfing, Muay Thai, canyoning, freediving, etc. At the end of our epic adventures, we would always look forward to "coming home". This is definitely not your typical resort! Homemade meals with fresh ingredients, friendly staff that treat you (and each other) like family, and beautiful spaces to rest, lounge and practice (e.g. yoga, Muay Thai, other movement disciplines). Floating Leaf is my home away from home. The team has become my family in paradise. I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone!
I have hosted many retreats world wide & I can say hands down that I have never worked with a team as professional & caring as the team at Floating Leaf. The owners Mikaku & Putu are the most welcoming people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
They were exceptional in helping us plan out all travel for our participants, provided for each dietary need, offered help & suggestions for additional places/things to see while in Bali.
The floating leaf itself is a piece of heaven on earth, bringing Balinese tradition & awareness to Eco tourism together. The attention to detail in all planning & operation of this extremely eco friendly retreat is remarkable. All products used to build it are either recycled or sustainable materials. The toiletries smell amazing & are biodegradable. The food is fresh, delicious & local. And the venues are nothing short of breath taking.
On a personal note I fell pretty ill a few days into the retreat, due to a pre existing condition before I arrived in Bali. Putu had personally arranged a doctor's appointment for me, her staff drove me to the hospital & stayed with me to make sure I was ok.
I cannot recommended the floating leaf enough. I, as well as my guests were blown away with this experience & cannot wait to return.
A good way to measure how enjoyable a trip was is to check in with yourself as you are checking out. Are you feeling happy about going home? Would you extend your trip by another week if you could? While going through this exercise last week at the Floating Leaf in Bali, my wife and I literally had tears in our eyes as we were handing our keys back to the staff. It was that great.
When we arrived late on a Monday evening from Tokyo, a staff member greeted us at the airport with a sign and a smile. The experience started there, with tales of the magic of Bali; sights, sounds, recommendations and the whole lot. Upon arrival maybe 30 minutes later, we were greeted by several staff members at the foot of the stairs to the Villa lobby, which was a nice touch. After some introductions, we were handed dinner menus since our journey was long and it was past dinnertime at that point (around 8:30 PM if I recall). We ordered and had a chat with the staff supervisor, who ran down a list of all of the excursions we could book through them (and there were about 20 or so choices!). When all was said and done, we booked the following during our 5 days:
-Appointment to see a traditional Balinese healer: A very profound experience that I won't detail here, but its something everyone should try once in their lives.
-Day trip to Ubud: We loved it there, highly recommended. Great for yoga, meditation, shopping, rice terrace trekking, and people watching.
-Early morning yoga class in the Villa: Great class and a good reminder that I need more practice!
-Day trip to Sanur: Beautiful beach town just south of the Villa. Great sand and a ton of cafes along the boardwalk near the beach. Even did some snorkeling offshore!
-Sekumpul Waterfall Hike: Epic day! Fair warning, this involves some steep climbing and traversing of rivers, but the views are incredible and you finish at a beautiful collection of three waterfalls
As you might tell, we like to get out and explore on our vacation, but some of our fondest memories were lounging in the morning by the beautiful pool (they play some great island vibe music over the PA), enjoying the delicious smoothies and breakfast options at the Floating Leaf, and just hanging out with the staff, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. If you're on the fence, jump over it. Highlights include the amazing staff, incredible food (some of the best Mee Goreng I had in Bali), nicely appointed rooms (with partial outdoor bathrooms decorated to nice effect), great location (quiet yet close to Sanur, Ubud and one of major highways in Bali of which the name escapes me but connects to all points north and west). So you can say we had a decent time :)
Sarcasm aside, this trip was one of the most amazing experiences of our lives, thanks in no small part to our stay at the Floating Leaf. See you all again someday!
Floating leaf is a sweet villa expanded in a retreat center.
The staff is friendly and the energy is peaceful despite the road close by.
I spend the time to write a review mainly because we have been surprised/disappointed by the disconnect between the build up of our expectations through the Top trip Advisor rating, the beautiful pictures and story on the website versus the reality of the retreat center as well as the prices of its services and the quality of its cooking and quasi absence of activities.
It is about bringing balance in the mix of reviews and help the retreat to create an authentic experience all the way.

I've done quite a bit of traveling (40 countries to date), despite my lack of participating on trip advisor. To be honest, I hadn't found the time or motivation to give the wonderful advice I usually end up taking from this site, but now I've finally found that motivation from staying at Floating Leaf.
Most of my travel is for work, I am a documentary filmmaker that enjoys going off to far away places to film things people usually wouldn't. I consider my job and experiences a blessing, but they make it difficult to compete with enjoying a "normal holiday." When I knew I was going to be working in Papua New Guinea and New Zealand (in that order) I would be able to fit in my first holiday longer than 3 days in over 2 years. I had been attracted to Bali ever since I read and saw Eat Pray Love, and knowing some of the people who worked on that job all agreed Bali is a magical place. I recently had a good friend, a fellow photographer, go to Bali and stay at Floating Leaf. Her photos confirmed the magic there was real, and I wanted to take my much overdue holiday for a week in Bali.
I reached out to Mikaku, and enquired about the Happiness Retreat that was the exact week before I was due in Papua New Guinea. From his first email to our hugs good bye, he was so accommodating, warm, and friendly (yes I could tell all of that from his emails). My arrival and departure schedule was slightly different than the retreat dates, when I made him aware he said this wouldn't be a problem and adjusted the schedule so I would not miss out on a thing.
I arrived in Bali after nearly 2 days of travel (with a 13 hour layover in Japan, that was also amazing) to a friendly face holding a floating leaf sign as I walked out of the airport. Even with my late arrival, Opan had a smiling and welcoming face and just as I was going to mention I needed to stop and buy a bottle of water he handed me a chilled bottle from the car.
I was taken up to my room, named Batur after the mountain and was asked for my breakfast order. I thought this quite strange the first night, but then it became like clockwork to place my order in advance. Floating Leaf tries to be as conservative and green as possible, and this includes keeping a small kitchen and not wasting anything. As someone who used to work in food service, I have an appreciation for this practice.
That brings me to the food, if nothing else made me happy on this retreat the food definitely did! I had pancakes every morning, well I did have an egg option one morning but thought to myself, I eat eggs every morning in NYC and they don't seem to make me happy, maybe pancakes would do the trick. Now I don't advise anyone to eat pancakes everyday for their life, but for one week they were awesome, and definitely kept me focused on the theme of the week-happiness.
Which brings me to the retreat portion of my stay. I want to preface this I came onto this retreat not because I felt it would give me some mysteries of the universe I didn't already know, or I would magically be bestowed with the gift of happiness. I had already been reading, participating, and had a general understanding of how to improve my happiness before I came into this retreat- letting go of shortcomings, being aware of my actions, and learning to love myself just to name a few. So why couldn't I achieve this in NYC? The simple answer is- I had the knowledge but didn't have time to put in the work needed to make it happen. My goal of the week was to put in the work and see what happens- and to avoid all the other distractions that usually attribute to this lack of self care (I put up an away message on my work email for the first time ever, didn't touch my laptop regardless of the amazing wifi at floating leaf).
So back to the retreat, I absolutely loved it! I appreciated the time Mikaku and Putu put into explaining parts of Balinese culture and teaching a cooking class. Those were two things that really stood out for me, and made me feel like this trip was on par with the other experiences I've had as a filmmaker. My favorite part was definitely the Laughing Yoga with Pak Eka, and I enjoyed the ritual cleansing at the water temple, the session with the healer (although that was a bit different than Eat Pray Love, so make sure to speak with Mikaku or Putu about what you'd like to get out of a healing session beforehand), the Batik painting was so relaxing and therapeutic, and the monkey forest was a ton of fun- the monkeys do like to climb on you though so be aware! And if the balinese healing is a bit too much for you, there's also a great healer named Deanna from the states. We had two, 1-hour long meetings during the retreat and they were instrumental in my happiness experience as well.
The staff overall was amazing, they were always smiling, always accommodating, and always ready to help you with whatever you need. The massages and spa treatments were top class, and the (lightly) salt water pool made it an easy decision to jump in everyday-plus it was a great way to meet people and hang out. Before my retreat started I hung out with two super interesting women and went on adventures to temples and Ubud with them. The other woman on my retreat was equally awesome, so overall the people made it a great experience as well.
The location is away from other places, but I never felt I needed to be anywhere else. Being surrounded by the rice paddies and being able to see the mountains and the ocean from the top floor, it was the perfect place for me.

Floating Leaf is a little taste of heaven, and we strongly recommend Bali travelers to stay there for an incredible experience. The resort is beautiful. The owners Mikaku and Putu and their team have clearly put a ton of love into the place. Everything is eco-friendly and sustainable, and maintains that five star luxury experience. Rooms include artwork and sculptures from the local community, open-air bathrooms full of plants. The common area has a salt water swimming pool, gorgeous yoga space, romantic tables on the rooftop overlooking lush fields and forests, and lots of comfy places to hang out and relax. The food is amazing. The menu was designed to be healthy but tasty, so you can eat tons of delicious, organic food guilt free. I was on a personal mission to cut down on junk food, and a week at Floating Leaf helped me make the transition while indulging in amazing cuisine. The experience at Floating Leaf is highly personal, and the team will respond to your needs as you need them. I saw a nutritionist, and my husband met with a healer, we did yoga classes, and personal surfing classes. The resort will coordinate excursions - such as purification rituals, cultural art tours, and waterfalls visits - upon request, and of course any kind of spa treatment of your choosing. This is not a typical hotel, you are treated with five star personalized service. Floating Leaf partners (including the yoga instructors, tour guides, drivers, healers, and others offering knowledge and services) are excellent, trustworthy and qualified to do what they do. The entire team at Floating Leaf is warm, friendly, and they genuinely care about the guests. It is truly a memorable experience, highly recommended!

How best to describe Floating Leaf? The finest resort of its kind that I have ever had the pleasure to experience (and lucky me, I had 13 days!) The usual amenities were all bumped up to the degree that exceeded all expectations. The beautiful rooms, open air bathrooms and showers, salt-cleaned pool: organic, carefully prepared, exquisitely presented, yummy and healthy food, enchanting environs (doing yoga on the open-sided 3rd floor, surrounded by the lushness of the fields nearby) are but a few memories. The thoughtfulness and planning to create an environment for healing the spirit, calming the mind, and soothing the body have been exceedingly successful. The basic design of Floating Leaf is circular- and it seems that it is the basic concept in all they do. Holding the framework of honoring the environment, honoring the wisdom in all of us, learning and teaching others how to do the same, is something I witnessed daily. Mikaku is a masterful teacher of culture and open-heartedness in understanding and connecting with the local culture. Putu is also a gem, in her graciousness and generosity of spirit that made us all grateful to be with her, whether in learning to prepare an offering, participating in a purification ceremony, appointment with a healer, cooking class, experiencing a local school, or a shopping adventure. They provide opportunities to experience the extraordinary, as in the charity hike, something that continues to influence my life. And the staff-- expertly trained by Mikaku and Putu, exemplifies what they themselves model. Whether driver, tour guide/body guard, cook, coffee-maker, spa service giver, grounds-keeper, they all work hard to make one feel well-cared for. (It was the first time I have felt like a princess!) Their attention to detail and kindness will not be forgotten. Special kudos to Alex, Opan, Gusti, and Ika! We left for a few days and returned here for our last two nights in Bali, and it truly felt like we were coming home. They all make you feel like family.Whether a retreat with a dozen wonderful women or a solitary one, I whole-HEARTedly recommend Floating Leaf. You will be delighted!

My wife and i decided to have a short trip in Bali. We chose Floating Leaf after reading some positive reviews about it. The experience that was given to us from Mikaku and all his wonderful team simply went beyond what we are expecting. Saying they are polite, friendly and helpful is really an understatement for the type of service that they have provided us.Just to mention a few wows that we have received from them... When we told them that we are planning to go snorkeling, the staff helped us planned for a wonderful itinerary whereby we can explore other parts of Bali while we are traveling to and fro the beach. They have even prepared towels for us and have packed it with the driver that was bringing us around. The driver assigned to us is equally amazing. He knew that we love beaches and drove us to a few beautiful beaches as we are travelling along the way.The food served by Floating Leaf are simply delicious and really healthy as well. Nice cosy bed, relaxing environment, wonder spa treatment...Every little things just add up to a very lovely and wonderful experience for us.When we left Floating Leaf, we were so relax that we forgot to pack our toiletries' bag into our luggage bag and left the hotel. After travelling for about 10-15 mins, the hotel staff called our driver and asked if we had forgotten to bring the toiletries back or we have them discarded there. We told the driver to turn back for us to retrieve our things. The driver told us that the hotel staff will bring it out for us. We just need to park by the roadside and wait... A lady staff rode her scooter out and passed it back to us... We were really really impressed for this extra mile that they are going for us ever after we have left the resort! There are really so much more stories to tell but i'll not go onWe are really thankful for the beautiful stay at Float Leaf!Thank you Mikaku and your wonderful team of people for all the thoughtfulness, love and wonderful service provided to us!

I was booked for 5 nights, stayed for 11! Can't rate this place highly enough. Staff were wonderful, polite and so accommodating to every need. Food - brilliant, rooms - amazing (outdoor showers should be everywhere) the pool -superb, doing yoga looking out over the rice-fields was an experience also! (Special thanks also to Ika from the onsite Spa - worth every penny!)I think one of the most special things about this place was all the lovely other travelers I met. I traveled alone there and came home with 10 new friends. Everyone who stayed there was just delightful. The vibe of the whole place was so welcoming and everyone was so happy all the time - it was impossible not to have a relaxing, refreshing amazing time. Thanks again to Mikaku and Putu for their wonderful hospitality and I will definitely be back!

I stayed at Floating Leaf for 2 weeks in October and can't say enough about the amazing experience I had! As a solo traveler I look for an atmosphere that will attract other solo travelers to create a community and this is exactly what FL is all about. First of all, Putu and Mikaku and the entire staff are focused on YOU 100% of the time. They have wonderful options for day trips and experiences, they catered to my dietary needs and made each of us feel like treasured friends. They suggested fascinating activity options and made sure that we connected with other folks at the resort interested in the same things. All was organized on a white board but you could just enjoy the pool and spa services as well for a "lazy day". We got to know their darling family including 2 year old Bohdie who is so precious, Alex, and the other staff always with big smiles and kind words for a personal touch. The rooms are extremely comfortable and spacious. The beds and pillows were perfect and the outdoor bathroom was quite lovely. The pool was fantastic as well! I was completely impressed with all aspects and I can be a tough customer! I wish I could have stayed longer! A few notes: there is wifi but it can be tricky and doesn't usually work in the rooms. The yoga instructors they brought in were beyond fantastic so definitely take advantage of that. I brought goggles hoping swim laps and the pool was perfect for that...my favorite part of the day! They also have goggles on hand. Go for a green smoothie in the morning and the pumpkin pancakes! There's no decaf on the island except in the Starbucks in Ubud or Sanur so bring some if you must...but I loved the Ginger & Lemongrass tea! To summarize - it's a gorgeous setting and facility but really, it's the staff that makes it a home away from home. Book it!

I would like to sincerely thank Mikaku and Putu for an extraordinary day, thank you for your support and kindness. You guys are amazing. I highly recommend their services to anyone with desire to experience the power and humbleness of the Balian. I will definitely return. When I first met Putu and Mikaku I was instantly put at ease and felt a genuine camaraderie and interest in what we all were about to experience. Both of them shared information abundantly and expressed their passion for the Balian and their mystical ways, and furthermore, their importance within traditional Balinese culture. It seemed exactly what I had been searching for, a knowledgeable couple that could take me to several Balians and also translate and explain the significance of the Balian within the Hindu Balinese cultural context. It was an intensely spiritual day, one that I will remember for a long time. I felt connected to the ancient spirit underlining Bali and feel quite blessed to have been able to experience all that transpired on that day.
We really enjoyed ourselves at the Floating Leaf. Putu, Mikaku and the entire Floating Leaf staff were extremely friendly and accommodating during our stay. The food was exceptional and the rooms were lovely. As others mentioned, the team is happy to organize yoga lessons, healing sessions, local ceremonial rituals, daily excursions, etc. most of which we benefited from during our stay. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to relax and disconnect from the world for a few days. It must be a combination of location and landscape, the friendly and warm service (almost like being with family) and the zen-like layout and atmosphere of the hotel that truly gave us a feeling of serenity and balance.

So I am one who is looking to get away and relax. I've done lots of adventure trips over my years (backpacking/hiking) and then 5 star spa trips as well. I am at a wonderful point in my life where I have a lot going for me, learned a lot from my past, looking forward to the future but am able to live and enjoy the now. I made the trip to Bali hearing a lot about the beaches, relaxation, food, people, surfing and of course soul searching. While I am not a spiritual person, I believe mostly in the simple golden rule, not so much searching for a bigger meaning in life. All that said, Floating Leaf, from the owner to everyone on the staff made me a serious believer in finding something special inside of you through my trip to Bali and their "path to happiness" program. Like I said, I am a genuinely happy person with my life and in order. It is just that Floating Leaf and Bali took this to another, unimaginable, level. Two suggestions:1. You need more than 8 days in Bali. There is way too much to offer and the people are one of a kind. I have been to over 50 different countries and the people here live differently than any other on earth. The Floating Leaf owners and staff are a great blend of Balinese and Western worlds. But I believe the commitment to the entire package had a profound effect so I recommend doing that at Floating Leaf if you can. To be more specific, you work with a Balinese doctor, get a horoscope (they can describe it better), and speak with a therapist and the combination of all these along with the other activities like mediation, purification ritual and getting to know the staff over 8 days is life changing. Emailing them is also very easy and helped a lot.2. Get out and taste the food. Floating Leaf has an amazing menu, but Bali has too many good places to eat and cheap too. Push to eat out a few more times.I would like to say thank you to Mikaku and Putu for such an amazing time!!!

I had a wonderful time at the Floating Leaf. The meals were fantastic and the excellent staff kind and attentive. Highlights include yoga as the sun rises, scooter rides, the purification ceremony, spa treatments and watching the staff have so much fun at the New Year's Eve party, particularly delightful to a jaded westerner. On Sundays, the yoga space is reserved for Balinese dance classes, a moving experience watching young people practice a beautiful art form. I always felt very safe and really appreciated the attention and care that went into making my stay comfortable and pleasant. All my thanks and very best wishes to Mikaku, Putu and the staff at the Floating Leaf!

Floating Leaf has redefined what it means to have a vacation. This place is a fantastic slice of paradise with great food, a wonderful staff, and an experience to write novels about. Highly recommended if you want something in between back-packing and luxury, if you're vegetarian looking for something different and divine, or if you don't want to stay in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Ubud. It's a short drive from Sukawati Art Market where everything is much cheaper than anywhere else on the island. Floating Leaf is also near some notable temples. Your stay in Bali will be memorable when you decide to check in Floating Leaf.

Words can't describe the feelings I experienced at Floating Leaf. It was the most magical and inspiring trip I have ever been on. I attended the 3 days Transformation Healing Retreat. The program catered so perfectly to both my physical and emotional needs that I found my inner peace and reconnected to my happiness just after 3 days.I would like to thank Mikaku and Putu for arranging this program, you are such special people with the warmest hearts. Special thanks to Deanna for her expertise, as well as her warmness and kindness; the powerful breath work with Ann, the amazing Balinese healers and Yoga teachers. Also a big thanks to all the staffs, they are extremely friendly, and prepared delicious meals that I enjoyed very much.FL is not just a beautiful place, it is the peaceful atmosphere and wonderful people that make this place so special. If you are not only looking for a relaxing holidays but also for a retreat to overcome a life transition, I strongly recommend the Transformation program at FL.
