About the Retreat
This yoga and Ayurveda retreat combines the principles and practices of both yoga and Ayurveda to create a comprehensive wellness experience. Yoga and Ayurveda are sister life sciences that originate from ancient India and share a common goal of promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
In this retreat, participants have the opportunity to deepen their understanding and practice of both yoga and Ayurveda in a supportive and immersive environment. The retreat will be held in Yoga Vidya Mandiram in Rishikesh, India. This will allow individuals to disconnect from their everyday routines and focus on self-care and self-discovery.
The retreat typically includes a combination of yoga sessions, Ayurvedic treatments, workshops, lectures, and guided activities, all tailored to the specific needs and goals of the participants.
Here are some key components as part of the yoga and Ayurveda retreat:
1. Yoga Practices
The retreat offers daily yoga sessions led by experienced yoga teachers. These sessions may include asanas (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation, and relaxation techniques.
The yoga practices aim to improve flexibility, strength, and balance, and cultivate mindfulness.
2. Ayurvedic Consultations
Participants will receive individual Ayurvedic consultations to determine their unique constitution (dosha) and identify any imbalances. Based on these assessments, personalized recommendations for diet, lifestyle modifications, and Ayurvedic therapy recommendations are provided to support overall well-being.
3. Ayurvedic Workshops and Education
This retreat often includes educational workshops and lectures on Ayurvedic principles, dietary guidelines, herbal remedies, and lifestyle practices. Participants can gain knowledge about Ayurveda and learn how to incorporate its principles into their daily lives.
4. Ayurvedic Treatments
During the retreat, the participants will be offered Ayurvedic treatments. These may include Abhyanga (Ayurvedic oil massage), Shirodhara (oil pouring on the forehead), Panchakarma (Ayurvedic detoxification and rejuvenation), and other Ayurvedic bodywork techniques.
5. Mindfulness and Self-Reflection
The retreat includes guided meditation practices to cultivate self-awareness, introspection, and internal personal growth.
By combining the transformative practices of yoga and Ayurveda, our retreat aims to create a holistic experience that promotes physical health, mental clarity, emotional balance, and spiritual connection.
While this retreat explores the basic concepts, and learning of Ayurveda as the highlight of the program, the curriculum also integrates yoga asana and pranayama practices on a daily basis to bring balance into students’ practice. For asana practices, the school focuses on Hatha yoga and Ashtanga Hatha Yoga and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga styles of Asana (Posture).
The aspirants will go through 6 days of training with 1 rest day. On this rest day, the school helps to arrange a half-day excursion for students. The excursion may involve visits to one of the sacred Himalayan sites in / near Rishikesh.
The rest day usually falls on a Sunday but may be shifted to a weekday to avoid tourists' events, festivals, or traffic in Rishikesh. Excursion organized by the school is included in the course fee and the destination would be selected by the school.
