Hostel & Surfcamp 55

First of all everything is well organised. The hostel is sooo clean (like really). Hosts Andrea and Gonzalo are very friendly. The atmosphere in the hostel is very charming. The general zone for everyone to just spent time… this is gorgeous. Highly recommended

I had the absolute pleasure of staying at Hostel 55 in Ericeira at the beginning of May during a surf camp — and I couldn’t be happier with my experience.

From the moment I arrived, I felt a sense of warmth and belonging. The people working at the hostel are truly something special — incredibly kind, authentic, and genuinely interested in making your stay unforgettable. They weren’t just staff, they were like a little soulful community who cared about how you were feeling, whether everything was okay, and were always there if you needed anything.

The place itself is beautiful and spotless — cleaned daily, with shared spaces like bathrooms and the kitchen always tidy and fresh. It felt like home, but with a magical coastal vibe. The location is perfect, surrounded by the calming energy of the ocean and the laid-back charm of Ericeira.

The surf lessons were a highlight — fun, challenging, and empowering. The instructors were supportive and passionate, and the whole experience gave me so much joy and confidence.

This trip wasn’t just a vacation — it was a little reset for the soul. I’m deeply grateful for the people I met, the waves I rode, and the peaceful rhythm of life I found there.

Highly, highly recommend — not just for surfers, but for anyone looking for a meaningful, heartwarming experience.

The hostel is very clean, centrally located and super markets nearby

I had never surfed in my life, and already from the first day I was able to stand. The instructors are very competent and taught us incredibly well, giving us a lot of tips and making us progress smoothly, very fast and in the right way, teaching us step by step.

The hostel feels more like a surf house, there is a very good mood and it felt like home for the week I was there.

I'm even considering going back next winter!

Ps: Ericeira is a little gem!

The hostel is nice, tidy and in a great location. Ines has been super helpful with everything, and Diogo is a great instructor. Can't recommend this place enough!

Hostel is just in perfect location - everything is very very close, like few minutes by walking to the ocean, shops, restaurant etc.

I enjoy the surf lessons - instructors are great, sometimes is in general too much people in the water which is bad, but it’s not instructors/hostel fault.

Having great time here, perfect for surfing:)

Surf instructors Guy and Ugo are really nice, I feel that I progressed thanks to them. It is also a good spot for surf beginners. The girls Andréa and Inès at the reception are welcoming. The atmosphere in the hostel is peaceful. There is a big kitchen, with everything to cook (there is a big supermarket less than 10 min walking from the hostel : Continente), a large room and a terrasse to chill. In the dorm of 6, the bed I had was confortable and there was no noise at night in the street. The localisation is perfect, close to the center of Ericeira and the first beaches (5 min walking). I felt super good there during 1 week, everybody was super friendly.

Gonzalo, the manager welcomes you at the airport with a cool surf look, hats and skatter short ...and very relax vibe. Very pro, he is on time and has great conversation.

Andreia, Gonzalo's partner and also co manager. It looks like, she always gets out of a meditation, yoga class...not only because of the look, legging and fitness outfits...but also because she is super kind and makes sure you have everything you need.

Great couple, great energy! they both speak perfect english.

Hostel 55 is great! the single "Pirates" room is great. While looking at the treasure map on the wall, you can look at the see view..🤩🤩

The collective kitchen is very practical. you can put your food in little boxes on the kitchen shelves, so everything stays in order.

Staff is great! Daggi and all the surf instructors team!

They were super nice people and very passionate everyday! The room was perfect with an amazing sea view, can see sunset from the room. Very nice experience!

I've never before stayed in a hostel that was that clean and nice! Andrea, Dagmar, and Gonçalo really understand how to make a stay at theirs great! Super friendly and helpful people :)
