Is the way to your heart through your stomach? Do you center your travels on food? Then you're in luck, as yoga retreats often provide lip-smacking delicious vegetarian food.

If you find yourself looking for a retreat that combines great mindful workouts with healthy food, then a yoga detox retreat is exactly what you need. The vegetarian dishes, prepared with love and care by dedicated cooks, will leave you drooling and the yoga workouts will leave you sweating. Yoga never tasted so good!

Yoga for breakfast

Mediterranean retreats, like the Floripa Surf & Yoga House in Italy, will treat you to the best wake-up yoga you ever experienced, all before you have had breakfast, for the best detoxing effect. And when you finally get to the breakfast table, you will be ready for the trendiest meal of your life.

Detox Retreat in Sicily

I spent the Easter Holiday with my three children at a yoga retreat in Sicily, following five days of yoga instruction. This retreat focuses on yoga and detox in order to boost your metabolism and energy levels. The nutritious diet that includes fresh fruit and vegetables and the intensive yoga activities will make you burn calories and flush toxins from your body. I found that this retreat is more suited for fit people, who are interested in following an active program and live the good life under the Sicilian sun.

Eat. Yoga. Love.

We all know that making the right choices when it comes to food, combined with a great yoga practice, rejuvenates our body and mind. This Sicilian retreat provides an abundance of fresh fruit, vegetables and unprocessed foods.

Floripa believes that consuming natural foods helps the body detoxify. Through this, we can reap all the benefits from our yoga practice. Seasonal products are used as much as possible from the immediate vicinity, so the menu is typically Mediterranean. All meals are fresh and prepared with love and care.

Time for a confession

I must confess that this yoga retreat was pretty challenging for me:

  • I craved sugar big time! All that healthy eating made me feel amazing, yet I would get a drive down to the local town each day with my kiddos to get our hands on some good chocolate cake, donuts and prosecco. My body has a sugar addiction.
  • I don’t like yoga. Just like a marathon runner, half way through my stay at the yoga retreat, I started doubting whether I truly liked yoga. After all, I am very stiff in the morning, and waking up and getting my body into yoga mode was brutal. We would spend almost two hours each morning doing yoga. This is the equivalent of my weekly yoga practice at home! But I managed to stick to the program after all, and I’m ever so glad I did.
  • I chickened out of the evening Yin Yoga sessions. Not proud of that… I just thought that two hours every morning was already a shock to the system. Adding on more evening classes would have been just too much for me.
  • Overall, I felt great! Now that I’m back home, I really miss my morning workouts. I definitely want to do more yoga retreats like this. Just like sugar, the natural high produced in my body is addictive.
