Are you an avid yoga practitioner? If so, you probably are already aware that the International Day of Yoga (IDY) is just around the corner. Wondering how you can celebrate International Day of Yoga this year?

In this article, we’re sharing some insights to help you honor the practice of yoga as well as make the most out of this festivity that includes live and online events to celebrate yoga all over the world.

International Day of Yoga at a Glance

As an official event recognized by the United Nations, the International Day of Yoga (IDY), World Yoga Day, or International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21st. It aims to raise awareness of yoga across the globe and share the importance of the practice with everyone.

IDY reminds us that yoga is for everyone, regardless of your beliefs, nationality, religion, race, or gender. Anyone can reap its abundant benefits, which includes stress relief, a more flexible body, and a healthier lifestyle in general.

This year, the eleventh anniversary of IDY, is organized around the theme of ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’.

As it has become a tradition, many special events are organized for World Yoga Day, both in-person and online. And it doesn’t matter what your current knowledge of yoga is - wherever you are on your journey of well-being, you’re welcome to join.

That said, here are some tips and tricks to get involved in the celebrations of the International Day of Yoga 2025!

It will be broadcast on UN WebTV on June 21 and will feature remarks from the President of the UN General Assembly and the Deputy Secretary-General, along with messages reflecting this year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” The program will include a guided yoga session on the North Lawn of the UN Headquarters, inviting diplomats, UN staff, and viewers worldwide to join in the Common Yoga Protocol.

This special event aims to highlight yoga’s vital role in fostering individual well-being and planetary health, while encouraging people everywhere to embrace yoga as a tool for unity, balance, and collective wellness.
