The Kandy Samadhi Centre

The location is absolutely stunning - this is no exaggeration. Spread out over 15 acres of former tea plantation. The rooms are built into the hills overlooking jungle and, like the main dining room and seating areas, built in a luxurious colonial style, with antique furniture. The main yoga studio is at the top of the estate with amazing views.

The staff are all charming and helpful, and the food (board includes 3 cooked meals a day) was the best Sri Lankan cooking I have ever eaten in three trips. A highlight was the walk to a local waterfall and swim, escorted by three of the friendly dogs that live at the Samdhi. Go early morning if you want to do this.

The yoga instruction (I'm fairly new to yoga) was 1:1, and very patient and relaxed.

The owner Waran makes a point of meeting and spending time talking with his guests and nothing seemed too much trouble. He's an antique dealer and this (Samadhi centre) seems to be a personal passion - he has a house on the estate but it's hard to see how it could be his main income. He is charming and charismatic if a little eccentric.

The moment you walk into Samadhi you are immediately wisped away into a magical getaway. The nature, the rooms, the staff, the food, the yoga, the meditation, the dogs, the fireflies, the monkeys, and the love… it’s like nothing I’ve Ever experienced in a retreat.

Meditative, inspiring and unique space with antique touch, tranquil surrounding, super friendly staff, delicious food, great Ayurvedic treatment including full body oil massage and steam bath. For us it was the first time to practice yoga with an Asian teacher and it went great. it felt like more calm, conscious flow and familiar poses have been rediscovered:) Many thanks for this authentic experience. I wish we stayed longer.

Ik heb nog nooit zo’n prachtig verblijf gezien. Het was magisch en sprookjesachtig. Het is allemaal antiek en aards ingericht en tot in de puntjes verzorgd. De eigenaar wil dat je je thuis voelt, wat helemaal is gelukt. Het is midden in de natuur en geeft je de mogelijkheid om stil te staan en volledig op te gaan in de natuur. Je kunt mooie wandelingen maken en natuurlijk genieten van de geweldige massages. De mensen zijn enorm vriendelijk en ik voelde me als een prinses behandeld. Het eten was ook fantastisch. Je wordt daadwerkelijk in alles voorzien.

Het personeel is vriendelijk en professioneel. De kamer met terras aan de rivier is fantastisch. De natuur in de omgeving is werkelijk prachtig!

Prachtige omgeving en op elke plek indrukwekkend uitzicht op natuur. Kwaliteit van het eten was ongekend goed.
