Ecstatic Dance is a freeform movement meditation in motion where dance expands, spirit activates, boundaries melt, boredom ceases, creativity breaks out, hope happens, beauty flows, communities collaborate, ritual is reinvented, and harmony resonates. The beat deepens

as an electronic tapestry of world rhythms weave you together as individuals within a greater unity.

The golden guidelines of Ecstatic Dance are:

• No shoes. No alcohol. No chit chat on the dancefloor. Let that body do the talking.
• Respect yourself and others.
• Dance however you want.

Ultimately, Ecstatic Dance is a place where you can experience the magnificent magnitude of your aliveness. It’s a deep dive into a natural high. It’s a space to explore full spectrum movement – from the subtle and sublime, to the wild, passionate, and tribal. It’s a state of total permission to be, allow, and express yourselves authentically, with all that you are. You can be sophisticated, sexy or silly. You can be sad, happy, connecting or introverted. There’s no right way to dance. There is only a sacred green card of yes and unconditional acceptance.

Tantric and Taoistic practices

The word tantra can be translated as “weaving” or “the union of opposites”. Taoism means living in harmony with the Tao, literally “the way” – or in other words, in a state of surrendered, relaxed action / non-action. Tantra and Taoism are two ancient paths of awakening that don’t separate sexuality and enlightenment but embrace them as one. It’s a lived experience and lovemaking of consciousness and energy, energetic transparency, and intimacy with all of life.

Tantra means entering into the full spectrum of life experience, with the recognition of the inherent beauty and sacredness in everything. Where traditional spirituality says that this is all an illusion, you need to renounce / reject the body, and desire is the root of all suffering, tantra says that even though what you call reality as well as what you call ‘death’ is illusory and who you are in essence is beyond this world, be lucid dreamers and enjoy every moment of this adventure, your body is sacred, your body is your temple, your body is a miracle, and desire is the orgasmic opening of life itself. And without attachment to outcome, desire is beautiful, expansive, and simply exhilarating.

In the Ecstatic Awakening Retreat, you’ll be learning tantric and Taoist practices to awaken life force energy in the body, as well as how to sublimate and circulate this energy through your energetic pathways, and with a partner. This can be your own partner, a friend or someone you’ve just met in the retreat. You can always choose how deep into an exercise you want to go, and your boundaries are respected at all times.
