Tranquil, serene, and peaceful.

Garth Barns consists of Hafod barn and Ty Nant. Hafod is a traditional stone and timber clad barn with a cool modern interior and spacious living areas. Our yoga asanas and practices are held in a large area with wooden floors and floor-to-ceiling windows. This is large enough to hold up to 24 yogis at the same time - however, this retreat is limited to a number of 14 participants only!

14 is a large enough group for anyone to feel comfortable (not "on-the-spot") and yet small enough to easily make new friends and for Bobble Yoga to offer personalised instruction.

There are also front and rear terraces, floor to ceiling windows allowing the light to stream into spaces.

Ty Nant is an oak-framed barn over two stories, with a comfortable farmhouse atmosphere. Lots of oak all around: Beams in the kitchen, the tables, and other locally made items. The lounge doors open to the terrace next to the stream, with plenty of space for you to socialise or to hide away in the living room, as you prefer.

Room options: ensuite double room with single occupancy, ensuite double or twin room sharing for two people; or ensuite minidorm sharing for four people.

All of the rooms have en-suite bathrooms either with a shower or a bath. Wi-Fi is available on the grounds.

Program

About the Program

Bobble Yoga has got the perfect recipe to take planning off your shoulders, give you the best schedule for your long-awaited rest! Every day you’ll be able to immerse yourself deeper in yoga, connect with nature, feel good after your healthy meals, and completely relax.

The program is designed so that your days are full, yet revitalising and rejuvenating - just like any weekend getaway should be!

Activities:

  • Morning mindfulness practices will be based on the Himalayan tradition of meditation. Themes will include "a deeper connection with breath" and ‘turning towards mindfulness’, designed to reduce stress. Bobble Yoga will introduce tools that will make it easy to implement these mindfulness practices in your everyday life
  • Morning asana (physical exercise) practices will be based on Bobble’s Breathe And Flow methodology, suitable for beginners, complete beginners, and general yoga goers too. There’ll be props to ensure maximum benefits and alignment is achieved in the poses, regardless of experience. This practice is based on traditional Ashtanga and Hatha yoga, energising, and strengthening through Vinyasa as well as releasing stress and anxiety by deepening your breath and body movement connection
  • During the restorative evening practices, we'll be making most of all of the props and mindfulness practices. Your body and mind will fully relax at the end of your day. The goal is “total relaxation”: The state in which there is no movement, no effort, no muscles holding bones; just deep, delicious rest
  • Two, 90-minute yoga workshops, one each on Friday and Saturday. The workshops are always changing in content, as Bobble Yoga grows and learns, and as they tailor to your needs.

Workshops

The Physical Foundations: Breaking down Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations)

You’ll play with props to discover unused muscles in your feet, arms, and other areas of your body.

Surya Namaskar A and B (Sun Salutations) are the two most complex movement series practiced physically in yoga, building up to 17 standalone poses together. You’ll learn alignment for each of these poses, the anatomical benefits as well as the usage of props to aid alignment even for the least flexible of us! You’ll put all this into practice in a playful way to make it easy to remember.

The Art of Slowing Down: Practical Tools for Stress Release

Talk about the triggers of stress and anxiety and understand the physiological aspects of their effects on the body. You’ll learn how and why to activate your parasympathetic nervous system.

  • How and why can different pranayama - breathing techniques - help
  • What are restorative yoga and yin yoga, and the ways it helps ease stress

All are designed to easily include in your self-practice back home.

Retreat location

Garth Barns, Llanidloes

This restoring yoga retreat takes place in Garth Barns, Llanidloes in Mid-Wales in the United Kingdom.

About the Location

Llanidloes is the first town on the River Severn (counting from the source); located within the historic county boundaries of Montgomeryshire, Wales. The town offers lovely cafés and small shops and is known for being a great little market town in Mid-Wales.

Garth Barns is located just two miles off from Llanidloes. The barns are on either side of the former farmyard - now a spacious landscaped courtyard, separating Hafod and Ty Nant (the two barns), and a garden with a pond and a stream running through.

These barn conversions offer spacious, very clean, and comfortable accommodations whether you decide to share or take your own room.

Yoga Retreat Meals of Your Liking

We only work with retreat chefs who have experience in creating nutritious, healthy and delicious meals in line with the seasons, for our yogis. We also understand how difficult it sometimes is for anyone with allergies or other dietary requirements to attend an event and have wholesome, nourishing and tasty (!!) meals without a fuss.

During the Bobble Yoga Retreats, we serve meals that are prepared on-site by one of our magical retreat chefs, who make cooking look easy and seamless.

We are going to explore and dive deep into meals that will feel impossible for them to be vegan. Everything will be prepared with naturally gluten free ingredients and no refined sugar. We're looking to find that lovely balance that nourishes our bodies and yet supports our mother Earth at the same time.

And just so you know... We. Love. Food. So we want to make sure, you will enjoy all the meals during our retreats too. If there is anything we need to know about your dietary requirements, please let us know as soon as you sign up.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Driving directions

  • The postcode is SY18 6NN. If driving: Bobble Yoga would recommend coming to Llanidloes before setting out on country roads.
  • Llanidloes is on the A470
  • Leave the bypass and head straight through Llanidloes town center - continue until you come to the only roundabout in Llanidloes.
  • At the roundabout, turn over the bridge onto the B4569
  • Immediately after crossing the bridge turn left onto the B4518, signposted Llyn Clywedog
  • Proceed up this road for approximately 1 mile and then turn right, immediately after a new caravan site entrance on the opposite side
  • The turning is signposted "Y Fan" (pronounced "Van" - meaning "place" in Welsh)
  • There is a brick house set back in the fork
  • The road goes up a little, then twists downhill
  • When it levels out after almost a mile, you will see the stone Garth Barns and the House (off white with 3 dormer windows) on your left about 400 yards from the road
  • Turn between two oak trees. (Some satnavs will try to send you along a rough track - there is no need for this!).
  • The drive is tarmac. If you reach the village you have gone too far

Arrival by airplane

Book your flight to arrive at Cardiff Airport (CWL) or Birmingham Airport (BHX).

People still need to rent a car and drive for a good two hours to arrive at the venue.

Arrival by train

Caersws is the nearest train station, at a distance of 6 miles / 15-minute drive. There are taxis available to pre-order, to complete the journey to Garth Barns.
