Originally from the surrounding area of Toronto, Canada, Alexandra has called El Zonte home for 8 years now. Alexandra was touched by the friendliness of the local people and the simplicity of life in Zonte, which motivated her desire to share this special place with others, and inspired Zonte Yoga Surf Retreats. Each of her classes is a well-rounded practice of strength and flow. Her teaching style compliments surf, empowering students to focus on flexibility, inner balance and mindfulness. While professional and detailed in her teaching, she is also open to innovative and playful techniques.
Alex’s passion as a waterman is infectious. If it can be surfed, Alex will ride it and is willing to teach you to do the same! Alex is not only an accomplished surfer in his own right, but he has dedicated much of his life to inspiring others to surf. In 2006, Alex became the first instructor in El Salvador to be certified with the International Surf Association and co-founded the El Salvador Surf Federation. He has since founded his own surf school (Surferos), as well as a non-profit adaptive surf program (Surf Sin Limites) in El Zonte. 30+ years surf experience. 20 years instruction.
Massage practitioner, Reiki Master and Holistic Psychotherapist, Cheryl is passionate about guiding others in accessing and expressing their true selves through a combination of massage, energy balancing, intuitive guidance and psychotherapeutic processes. Cheryl’s extensive body training began w/ the 1000hr Shiatsu Therapy Course offered by Sourcepoint Shiatsu Centre at Langara College, followed by additional courses in massage modalities including Swedish, Cranial Sacral, Sports, Reflexology, Visceral Manipulation, Thai massage and more. Cheryl also holds a B.S in Biology and Psychology.
Katrin has practiced yoga for the past 10 years and is a RYT 500 certified yoga teacher who decided to settle in El Salvador 2 years ago. She has accumulated extensive experience in both strengthening and stretching poses also often using yoga as a complement to drive results in other sports students are engaged in.Her style focuses on alignment to ensure a safe and beneficial practice for her students. All classes include a lot of stretching poses and a long relaxing Savasana leaving practitioners refreshed and energized in their physical body and with a relaxed and balanced state of mind.
