Zesty Breaks presents a gentle Beginners Yoga and Walking Retreat with the core emphasis being on the guided coastal walks. Vinyasa yoga is designed to help limber the body up and stretch those muscles in preparation for the stunning coastal walks. It truly is an incredible experience to start the day with yoga sessions, limbering up and awakening the body before commencing on your guided walks of the coastal paths of Cornwall. This break includes accommodation, all meals, guided coastal walks and Vinyasa yoga classes.

This retreat is held in a budget surf lodge style hotel in the heart of Newquay, Cornwall, called Ocean Surf Lodge. Rooms are all private, en-suite (with shower room) and feature beach style decor and accessories - rooms are basic but centrally heated, cosy and carpeted. There is an on-site bar which is intimate and cozy and perfect for relaxing in after a long walk (there is also free unlimited Wi-Fi). The lodge itself is located just a four-minute walk the beaches and town centre and it also features free guest parking.

Zesty Breaks Yoga Retreat Schedule

This retreat focuses on guided coastal walks with early an morning yoga class to stretch and limber the muscles before the walks commence. Yoga class commences on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings and the walks commence on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (late morning/mid-afternoon).

Check in is from 3 p.m. on Monday (so if the full group arrives in time, then a short coastal walk will commence). Check out is by 10 a.m. on Friday allowing guests to shop, sight-see or give them travel time to get out of Cornwall.


1 x 60 minute morning class on the Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to limber up for the walks (followed by long coastal walks).

The Vinyasa yoga instructor has been teaching for over 20 years. Sessions will be restorative and calming but she will also work with you to strengthen the core, increase strength, stamina, and flexibility.

Our instructor is sensitive to all beginners abilities and will encourage you to be challenged yet invigorated.

Coastal walks

Starting off with gentle walks which progress each day on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

The sea air really is good for the health. The bracing climate by the sea is especially beneficial to the respiratory organs and the skin, but also improves circulation and strengthens the body's defenses.

The reason sea air is so healthy is that it contains tiny droplets of seawater enriched with salt, iodine, magnesium and trace elements, which are scattered into the air by wind and waves. Sea air is also full of negative hydrogen ions which, by neutralizing damaging free radicals, improve our ability to absorb oxygen. They can also balance levels of serotonin (the hormone that makes us feel happy) meaning we will become more relaxed and less prone to anxiety.

When you couple the restorative powers of sea air with walking, you are also releasing tension and getting incredibly beneficial exercise at the same time.

On our coastal walks, you will experience parts of Cornwall that very few people get to see, stunning seascapes and hidden beauty spots - so bring your camera and prepare to be beguiled and amazed.

Typical schedule for non-arrival/checkout days

  • 07:30 Light breakfast with hot water and lemon, freshly blended Nutribullet juices
  • 08:00 Vinyasa yoga session (1 hour)
  • 09:30 Hearty Breakfast (fruit/yoghurt, toast, tea/coffee, cereals, eggs, juices, smoothies)
  • 11:00 Start on a long Guided Coastal Walk
  • 13:30 Lunch stop in a local eaterie along the walk
  • 17:00 Return to the lodge and Free time
  • 19:00 Evening meal
  • 21:00 Free time

The focus is on healthy, hearty dishes that will nourish the mind, body and soul. Wherever possible, Zesty Breaks use organic, fresh and local producers. Unlimited fresh fruit and a fine selection of teas and coffees are available through out the day. Meals are in an intimate group setting with a nightly set dinner menu.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 25% of the total price.
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 31 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
