We came in contact with Zen Dive Bali because our hotel/resort in Candidasa is located right next door. Our daughter of 14 years expressed an interest in an introduction to scuba diving, and I was looking for a refresher after so many years.

We came to the right spot! Dive instructors Jos and Jelena, who run the place, really took the time for us, made us feel very comfortable, but also showed diving professionalism at the highest level. Scuba diving is a lot of fun, but also not something to mess about with. They made that perfectly clear, all in good spirit, and with the right balance between focus and fun. We were in good hands.

After the necessary paper work, and introductory skills in the swimming pool, we went to Tulamben the next day, to go shore diving on the wreck of a US Liberty Ship. Everything was taken care of perfectly. The dive school staff took care of all the equipment, we didn't need to lift a single thing. Transportation to/from and lunch at the dive site were all included. Dive briefings were clear and to the point, again with a pleasant balance between professionalism and pleasure.

My daughter was in very good hands with Jos, who showed her a good time hovering over the wreck and created a relaxed mood. We got to see plenty during the dive.

I recommend Zen Dive Bali without any reservation. Also, I found prices, which included everything from equipment, transport, catering, to be very reasonable when compared to other world scuba diving desrtinations.

We went on a trip to Manta Bay (Nusa Penida). My son scuba dives so he did that and the rest of us snorkelled. The boat ride took about one and a half hours and the sea was quite choppy. I get seasick easily and did feel unwell. They do carry pills and so these help if taken far enough in advance. However, this was more than compensated for by the manta rays and then the snorkeling in Crystal Bay where we stopped on the way back. My son subsequently went on four more dives with them so they really are good guys!

Jos and his team provided an excellent first time dive experience for myself and our two sons - so accommodating when we added eldest son to the group giving extra time for individual induction as necessary. We were in such capable and confidence instilling hands for our dive. Highly recommend Zen Dive Bali to all travelers heading to Candidasa.

Dived the Liberty Wreck at Tulamben with Jos. We were all beginners and he took the time to make us feel comfortable and to refresh our skills at the beginning or the first dive. The dive was fantastic, we went all around and through parts of the wreck and saw heaps of sea life! We also got to see a lot of the real Bali on the drive there. Even stopped to see monkeys on the way!

We enjoyed five days of diving with Zen Dive Bali. We emailed them prior to our arrival and got always immediate replies which was very nice. We already had in mind which dive sites we wanted to see and they were very flexible and made all of them possible for us including a great night dive at Tulamben wreck. The prices include equipment, water in nice steel bottles (ecofriendly), and also lunch at the center or on the dive trips. They also let us dive unguided at the wreck as we were fairly experienced and we surely enjoyed it. Just the visibility underwater was not in our favour as it was very murky due to huge amount of algae in this time of year, but hey this is nature.

My first introduction dive at Zen Dive Bali was a wonderful experience. Our very friendly diving instructor, Jos de Groot, did a great job in professional teaching. In the swimming pool, we practiced all the procedures not only until it went well, but more important until we felt comfortable to go into the open sea. At sea, Jos gave us a great underwater tour, it was impressive to be in this so completely different world.

Thanks for this unforgettable first introduction dive, it will probably not be the last.

We made a reservation by email a few weeks before our trip. Everything was arranged perfect; the pick-up service, the quality of equipment, the staff, and the overall experience were great. Highly recommended.

Zen dive center is closest to ocean and hotel, where our russian company was stay. The cost of service match the quality, competent dive guides are attentive. Throughout the week, we made more than 15 dives in different locations. After diving, you can relax in small warm pool, and that is very nice. All of us were satisfied, so Zen Dive Bali is five stars dive center.

Only been to the Liberty wreck with Jos, on my first time dive, but it was amazing, and the team at Sub Ocean Bali was very professional and gave us the feeling of safety. Everything was perfect!

We spent three days diving with Jos and Kedek and had a wonderful time. I was nervous having not dived for two years and Jos was fantastic with me - calm, reassuring, and attentive, consequently we had a great day diving the Liberty wreck. The highlight of our Bali diving was our trip to Manta Point where Kedek and Wayn found us eight mantas who played around us for an hour, we then moved to another deserted dive site by Nusa Penida and drifted along a stunning wall where there was a huge abundance of amazing fish and a turtle. The Sub Ocean team (now rebranded as Zen Dive) make the trip fun, relaxed, and safe; we will definitely be diving with them again if we come back to Bali.

My wife signed us up for a package which included diving, yoga, and spa. She finished her Open Water certification under Marissa (we had a great time with her). We did our diving in Tulamben and Padang Bai. Tulamben was excellent - visibility was very good and it was a unique experience diving around the wreck. We saw quite a fair bit of marine life in Padang Bai (lion fish, mantis shrimp, scorpion fish, nudibranch, rays etc., and even a tourist submarine cruising past us!) but no frog fish. The crew was friendly, professional, and the diving equipment was new and well-maintained. We also enjoyed our yoga classes and spa (we stayed at the Rama Candidasa next door) - it was a very enjoyable trip and we'll come back again.

My husband and I went snorkelling at the Blue Lagoon and we both enjoyed the experience. The dive centre is very professionally run and all of the staff are very knowledgable and friendly. My husband has been scuba diving for a few years now and I had only attempted it about 20 years ago and it was a frightening experience for me. I did not enjoy jumping into a deep ocean from the back of a boat. As a result I never thought I would try scuba diving again until I met Yacob and Yelena at Zen Dive. I was introduced to diving in their swimming pool with Yacob who enlightened me into all of the things one needs to know about the equipment and breathing techniques that allows you to remain calm and in control. I will definitely be returning to Zen Dive to do my first dive in the ocean when we return to Candidasa. Thank you all for making this such a positive experience. My husband also enjoyed diving with Yelena, said it was one of the best dives he had ever done and he learnt new techniques from Yelena.

I scheduled our dive a week in advance via email. Jelena always responded promtly amd everything was sorted with ease.

Before the dive they gave us a great briefing not only about the dive but also interesting facts about mantas and the mola mola. We went searching for the mola mola and we weren't able to find it but that's just how diving is.. Jos and the boat crew took good care of us and we all had a wonderful time. Their crew is personable and professional to say the least.

The new experience of diving in the open-water was much more vivid and interactive than I could have ever imagined! During my first dive, I was privileged to observe a sea turtle and subsequently learned more about their behaviour from looking in the field guide on the bookshelf back at the dive school. During my third dive, I was shown a sea horse, which was a dream come true for me.

What I think was excellent about Zen Dive was the alignment between school values, Padi theory and the focus on my understanding of the conditions. It was really very exciting to learn how to dive to develop buoyancy and breathing. Over the course, I learned a lot of sensitivity and new skills.

What I think was excellent about the learning package is that during the first two days, I learned two of the five sections of theory and that taught me the different learning objectives. The book has assigned questions to work through and then there is a review test at the end and a further multiple-choice test after a video. After that, there is a further multiple choice test at the very end, which reflects your final understanding of the theory. So the sections are taught using an indirect style of instruction, which is focused on understanding. The method was excellent and there was plenty of attention to detail and many, many assurances.

I would like to say that I thought the interpersonal communication of my instructor (JDR) was excellent - a very experienced instructor and a pleasure to be learning how to dive with. In fact, the whole team of instructors are knowledgeable, caring and very well-organised.

The little details made the service outstanding, for example, a good lunch was included with lots of choice in the menu, with tea, coffee and/or water at both break time and lunchtime. The bathroom facilities are spacious and hygienic, also there is a shower with towels provided.

Finally, I would also like to mention the model of the dive school reflects a community-based approach. Not only are the instructors involved in leading marine conservation themselves, but they are also involved in a non-profit organisation, which teaches English skills to local school children so that they can develop communication for employment.

The Hindu spirituality of the local people close to the dive school is really lovely. For example, in the evening before the sunset, over 60 people gathered by the waterfront to make an offering to the sea. Again, when we set off in the boat, the boatman made an offering the sea. I think that says a lot about their community, in terms of their respect for the business side of the school and the well-being of everyone involved and of course the coastline and Pacific ocean!

I would recommend Zen Dive to you.

We have been in Candidasa with our small family and our hotel was direct next to Zen Dive. That was also the reason why I choosed this dive Center. Everyone is very friendly and nice and its a very warm atmosphere - like a small family. Every dive trip was very well organized - transport, equipment, dive, SAFETY equipment, spare equipment, food...

I was Diving 6 dives with Jacob in this center. Always in a small group with max. 3 persons or even 1 to 1. Jacob gave us/me a very detailed dive briefing and made every dive very successful. Thanks again.

Due to the high waves we were not able to go to Mantapoint this time which means, that I have to come back to Bali for the Mantas. I will than for 100% do my dives with Zen Dive again.

    Thanks to the ZenDive Team.

    Thanks Jacob.

jelena & jos were so wonderful in making me comfortable with diving again after a break of 3 years. They listened to my worries and found a great spot to get back in the water. Had amazing dives at tulamben. Really a dive for everyone! So many fish and the luck of a shark and turtle! Jelena also helped with finding a yoga teacher, an other great experience.
