During this holiday, you will be accommodated in Zen Buddhist & Yoga Retreat, a panoramic and secluded retreat center overlooking the Conondale Valley and the mountains beyond. The temperate climate here allows beautiful gardens to flourish, bringing in prolific bird life and fauna.

Kintamani Room

The Kintamani Room has a double bed & single bed (bunk style) with its own bathroom. It is for a maximum of two people.

Uluwatu Room

The Uluwatu room has a single bunk on top and a double bed on the bottom. It is for a maximum of two people. Two single guests may share the bunk room. The Ubud and Uluwatu rooms share a large bathroom with twin vanities and a separate toilet.

The Ubud Room

The Ubud room has 2 single beds. It is for a maximum of two people. Two single guests may share the bunk room. The Ubud and Uluwatu rooms share a large bathroom with twin vanities and a separate toilet.

The Garden Rooms

The Garden rooms are 2 private rooms overlooking the gardens, each has a single bed and share the bathroom.


This retreat is designed to promote clarity and well-being in body, mind, and spirit. It will help you achieve a feeling of peace of mind, with focus on finding a state of stillness and silence within. A quiet retreat after the busy Christmas holidays and time to reflect on what New Year's resolutions you are able to commit to.

The program is based on ancient yogic Veda practices, Zen Buddhist teachings, and mindfulness meditation.

Zen Buddhist and Yoga Retreat is a serious yoga, meditation, and Zen knowledge program for students, from beginners to intermediate levels. Guests can join in with as little or as many sessions as they require to find the peace and relaxation that they are searching for.

The yoga asana portion of the program will aid with the improvement of the physical health of the body and strengthen the spirit so that you become aware of the interaction between body, mind, and self. Our yoga asana sessions is not about how flexible you are but where your mind is. We aim to move every joint for lubrication and longevity.

The Zen portion of the program will give clarity to the mind and knowledge. Understanding will result in wisdom and will further strengthen the spirit. Fushin will also share his Tai Chi practice with you.

In the evenings, we offer activities such as Mantra, Tibetan Bowl Meditation, Yoga Nidra, Zen Armchair chats.

In turn, you will learn to be mindful before speaking or acting. Zen knowledge will teach you patience and tolerance and offer a feeling of peace and silence within.

The Zen Buddhist program outline

The goal of the Zen portion of the program is to give the participant the information that regular practice will bring them to a state of peace of mind and happiness. The information will be transmitted slowly, little by little, building it up each day.

There will be time for you to contemplate that knowledge so that you have an understanding of it. Together, you will practice mindful Zen meditation techniques to bring the mind to a state of stillness, silence, and clarity.

When you place the knowledge and the understanding in the stillness and silence of a clear mind, the outcome is wisdom on the subject you are contemplating.

The resident Zen Master, Fushin, will determine what topics will be covered during the retreat but if there is anything in particular you wish to discuss, please let him know.

This retreat will take place in Wootha, in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, nearby Maleny and Montville. The Hinterland has many beautiful drives, walks, parks, and waterfalls. It is a very popular bed and breakfast location for the Brisbane market.

The famous Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo is nearby. The area is very beautiful, a lovely way to start any international holiday commencing in Brisbane. There is one acre of gardens abundant in wildlife.

During this retreat, you will be served a daily vegetarian breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Tea and coffee are available all day to help yourself to.

  • Vegans are catered for if advised prior to arrival.
  • Gluten Free meals can be provided for guests with allergies and intolerances but you will need to bring your own breads and snack foods.
  • Dairy allergies can be catered for however you may need to bring a few items with you.

However, if you have both GF and dairy intolerances, you will need to discuss this with us.

We ask that all allergies and intolerances be advised no later than 1 week prior to arrival.

For guests without transport, Zen Buddhist and Yoga Retreat can pick them up free of charge from Maleny.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 25% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
