Accommodation

During the retreat, you will be residing at Manor Farm Holiday Cottages. The cottage’s converted barns and stables provide four-star luxury en suite accommodations with outdoor seating areas and off-road parking. Each room has a shower and toilet. Rooms are single, double or twin. All have coffee and tea making facilities, towels and linen provided.

Iyengar yoga

The Iyengar method of yoga is named after the yoga teacher Yogacharya Sri B.K.S. Iyengar. The teaching helps you focus on correct alignment of the body in poses ensuring you’re working safely, with maximum benefit to your flexibility, strength and wellbeing. Classes generally start with simple poses and gradually move towards more advanced poses, ending with a period of relaxation.

Props, such as blocks and belts, are sometimes used in class to allow those with less strength or flexibility to work correctly and achieve their full potential.

Included excursions

You will experience accompanied walks on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons to explore local scenic coves near Flamborough, seabird watching at the nearby RSPB Bempton nature reserve, cliff top walks and explore local beaches at Filey.

Christine Rumley has been teaching yoga for twelve years. She has a relaxed friendly manner and is passionate about the benefits yoga can bring to general health and wellbeing.

Retreat location

Buckton is a small rural village on the Yorkshire coast. Within a walking distance of the accommodation are a tearoom, a pub and a post office. The local railway station is a 20-minute walk away. Bempton Cliffs and the RSPB nature reserve are nearby. The seaside resort of Filey is seven miles away and can be accessed by car or by cliff top and beach walk.

Flamborough Head can be visited by car or walking along the cliff top. The beaches of Bridlington are easily accessible. The seaside resort of Scarborough is a 30-minute drive away.

Food

Katy, the fabulous vegetarian cook has a deep personal commitment to organic growing and to cooking methods that respect the integrity of the ingredients used. It has underpinned her approach to feed both her family and her customers. Organic and sustainable growing continues to be the bedrock of her cooking with continuous exploration of the rich stock of exciting vegetarian cuisines from around the world.

A firm believer in the adage that "you are what you eat", she uses whole, unprocessed ingredients in all of her cooking. Everything she serves has been made by her from scratch promoting health through natural wholefoods which is mirrored in the theory and practice of a sattvic diet consisting of fresh organic fruit and vegetables, whole grains and nuts, organic dairy products, beans and lentils, plant-based oils, mild sweeteners (molasses, maple syrup and unrefined sugar), and spices (cinnamon, basil, coriander, ginger, and turmeric).

Most of the recipes she uses are vegan and others can be very satisfactorily adapted for vegans. Alongside her firm belief in the importance of unprocessed organic wholefoods as the building blocks of a healthy diet, her home kitchen is a calm, creative space in which she applies her skills with an attention to detail which includes grinding many of her own spices and carefully sequencing the order in which ingredients are added to dishes.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

You can book your flight and arrive at Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA), Humberside Airport (HUY), or Doncaster Sheffield Airport (DSA).

Arrival by train

The local railway station is Bempton, just 20 minutes' walk from the accommodation. Collection at local stations can be arranged, please send Yoga East Yorkshire an inquiry for more information.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 20% of the total price.
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 42 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 42 days before arrival.
