3 Days Chakra Yoga Retreat in Harrogate, UK

Spiritual Yoga Weekend Retreat in UK

James lived and studied in India for five years. In this retreat he will teach yoga and meditation from a Tantric perspective which focuses primarily on the chakras; the subtle energy centers of the body corresponding to the nervous system, the major organs and endocrinal glands in the body.

According to yoga/ Tantra all illness in the body can be attributed to one of the seven chakras becoming blocked due to emotional, mental and karmic issues; trauma from the past stays in the subconscious mind and affects the functioning of the chakras leading to health issues. In the retreat, the student will learn about these different psychological, emotional and physical issues relating to the chakras and how we can use yoga, meditation and other powerful tools for personal transformation.

This is an excellent retreat allowing you to develop your understanding of your body and your yoga practice where you will benefit from James's extensive experience and knowledge.

Program

This retreat will include philosophical theory and practical tools in Tantra and yoga which will provide the groundwork for powerful transformative practices and transcendental meditative states. James has developed a unique style of yoga based on the Agama / Trika school which uses asanas (postures) to activate the chakras to bring the microcosmic energies of the body into coherence with the universal macrocosmic energies. It is a powerful form of yoga, which works in ascending order through the chakras, leading to higher states of consciousness. Please note that sex Tantra is a miniscule portion of 'Tantra' and will not feature in this retreat. Below are lectures that you will get:

  • Introduction to yoga and Tantra
  • The chakras and the evolution of consciousness
  • Tantric tools for transformation

Tantra

Tantra is one of the most ancient spiritual pathways of India from which yoga was born. ‘Tantra’ means ‘warp’ or ‘extension’ and refers to the infinite energy of divine consciousness which permeates all of life. Tantra recognizes the human body as a microcosmic replica of the macrocosm. Through practices such as yoga and activation of the chakra centers, the latent energies of the body are liberated. As these energies are freed, an expansion of consciousness occurs as one progressively moves towards emergence with Shiva, universal consciousness.
