This yoga teacher training program at Yogvit Yogshala is for yogis who have or want to develop knowledge and skills in traditional Indian yoga philosophy. You will be guided to the basic application and understanding of Hatha yoga and Ashtanga yoga principles. All modules of teachings are led by yogi and yoginis holding excellent knowledge in yoga. After successfully completing the course, students will become confident and certified yoga teachers and will be able to guide their students.

This yoga teacher training course will take place in Arambol Beach, a traditional fisherman village, located approximately one-hour's drive away from the Dabolim Airport within the Pernem administrative region of northern Goa, India.

The objective of these yoga teacher training courses is to gain knowledge of application and understanding of traditional Indian Hatha yoga and Ashtanga yoga principles. If you are just a beginner or have some knowledge of this ancient practice, you will still be able to develop and deepen your understanding of yoga and be able to teach yoga professionally with the guidance of your instructors.

This yoga teacher training will help you to understand the skills and technique to grow and improve self-practice and also guide others in a safe manner. At Yogvit, the yoga teacher training program is designed based on the Indian tradition system. Yoga is a vast subject with many traditions and styles, in which one will learn and experience the basics of each subject to cover all of the varieties

Course syllabus

Techniques, training, and practice

This segment emphasizes on analytical training to teach and practice multi style asana training, practice of Hatha and Ashtanga, pranayama, meditation, kriyas, and chanting. Every student will be guided through the techniques which will also allow them to practice themselves.

In asana, the focus will be on alignment and the correct ways to perform each technique. Your initial first week will be for foundation, gradually build awareness and strength, develop flow, teaching of different pranayamas, and its subtle practice and effects on respiratory and nervous system.

Teaching to withdraw senses, for example Pratyahara (base of meditation practice), and different meditation techniques will be taught and you will experience its effects on your mind like om, chanting, heart meditation, and yoga Nidra.

Yoga philosophy, lifestyle, and ethics for yoga teachers

In this segment, Yogvit Yogshala will give a brief introduction of background and history of yoga, including the teachings of yoga sutras, Hatha yoga, Pradipika, Bhagvad Gita. In lifestyle and ethics, you will explore the eight fold paths of yoga, and the teaching values of yoga as a Karma yogi.

More than two hours will be spent on yogic living lifestyle. Learning on how to reduce power of kleshas, which all human beings are born with. This segment of learning involves spiritual and practical aspects of the course.

Teaching methodology

The teaching methodology segment emphasizes on alignment for the asana and its sequence, and the principle of demonstrating asana in the class and its effectiveness. Explore different aspects of teaching, communication skills, time management, and designing classes according to age, group, and any special needs. In the business aspects of yoga, Pradipika teaches you how to use individual, professional, and marketing skills.

Anatomy and physiology

This segment of teaching includes the study of the physical anatomy of a human body such as skeletal, muscular, respiratory, digestive, nervous system, and organs. This segment also includes study of pranic body (subtle energy) chakras, nadis, and bandhas. All these learnings will be related to its application to yogic practice.


Student will be asked to demonstrate yoga techniques taught during the course with necessary adjustments and teaching skills. Practicum involves a well-structured sequence taught in a group with clear instructions, movements, and breath understandings. With an open heart, everyone will learn to give and receive feedback.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Goa International Airport (GOI). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request. This journey will take approximately one hour and 30 minutes.

Arrival by bus

Take a bus from Mumbai, Bangalore, Hampi, Pune or other destinations directly to Panaji or Mapusa. There are buses available frequently from Panjim or Mapusa to Arambol every 30 minutes. This journey will take approximately one hour.

Arrival by train

Take a train to Thivim railway station. Transfer from and to this station is available upon request. This journey will take approximately one hour.

Electricity information

Electricity is 220 volts. You may need to bring an adapter for charging your computer, phone, or any other sophisticated electronics.

Dressing information

Appropriate, casual, and clothing for yoga and the local climate.

What to bring

There are yoga mats at Yogvit Yogshala. However new mats can also be purchased in the store nearby. Yogvit Yogshala suggests you to travel light and purchase necessities there, which are easily available in local market. You are also advised to bring any medicines that you are taking regularly. Expensive items like cameras, MP3 players, laptops, tablets, kindles, mobile phones, etc are to be brought at your own risk.

Passport / visa

Please check if your nationality requires you to have a visa to enter India. A tourist visa is easy to get.

Please bring two copies each of your passport’s main page (the inside cover which has the passport number and photo) and the page that has the Indian visa. It is also advisable to scan it and keep a copy in your emails as a spare to print whenever convenient.
