Course syllabus

Techniques, training, and practice

This segment emphasizes on analytical training to teach and practice multi style asana training, practice of Hatha and Ashtanga, pranayama, meditation, kriyas, and chanting. Every student will be guided through the techniques which will also allow them to practice themselves.

In asana, the focus will be on alignment and the correct ways to perform each technique. Your initial first week will be for foundation, gradually build awareness and strength, develop flow, teaching of different pranayamas, and its subtle practice and effects on respiratory and nervous system.

Teaching to withdraw senses, for example Pratyahara (base of meditation practice), and different meditation techniques will be taught and you will experience its effects on your mind like om, chanting, heart meditation, and yoga Nidra.

Yoga philosophy, lifestyle, and ethics for yoga teachers

In this segment, Yogvit Yogshala will give a brief introduction of background and history of yoga, including the teachings of yoga sutras, Hatha yoga, Pradipika, Bhagvad Gita. In lifestyle and ethics, you will explore the eight fold paths of yoga, and the teaching values of yoga as a Karma yogi.

More than two hours will be spent on yogic living lifestyle. Learning on how to reduce power of kleshas, which all human beings are born with. This segment of learning involves spiritual and practical aspects of the course.

Teaching methodology

The teaching methodology segment emphasizes on alignment for the asana and its sequence, and the principle of demonstrating asana in the class and its effectiveness. Explore different aspects of teaching, communication skills, time management, and designing classes according to age, group, and any special needs. In the business aspects of yoga, Pradipika teaches you how to use individual, professional, and marketing skills.

Anatomy and physiology

This segment of teaching includes the study of the physical anatomy of a human body such as skeletal, muscular, respiratory, digestive, nervous system, and organs. This segment also includes study of pranic body (subtle energy) chakras, nadis, and bandhas. All these learnings will be related to its application to yogic practice.

Practicum

Student will be asked to demonstrate yoga techniques taught during the course with necessary adjustments and teaching skills. Practicum involves a well-structured sequence taught in a group with clear instructions, movements, and breath understandings. With an open heart, everyone will learn to give and receive feedback.
