If you need rest and relaxation, and you want to reconnect with nature, then join this journey. On this journey, you will walk through the silence of the desert as you dive into the beautiful sand dunes of the Sahara desert. Experience Taroudant in a new light as you will live the authentic life of the Moroccans and the flair of 1,101 nights. The daily yoga practice promotes balance and connects you to your inner center.
Throughout the retreat, you will exclusively stay in very beautiful oriental hotels with pool and gardens. In the Sahara, you will stay in a Bivouac camp from brick-rammed earth cottages with waterproof roofs made of dromedary wool. You will sleep on comfortable wooden beds with mattresses, sheets, and blankets. Toilets and showers are available.
During days two to seven, there will be daily yoga practice, meditation, and breathing exercises in the morning and evening. During the 2016 retreat dates, there will be ten yoga sessions in total while in the 2017 retreat dates, there will be eight yoga sessions in total.
The journey begins in Taroudant (Little Marrakesh), which is 40 minutes from the Agadir Airport (AGA). It is a very authentic place surrounded by citrus trees and banana plantations, far away from mass tourism, where you can get to know the country and the people. You will be staying in a very beautiful oriental hotel with pool. Once everyone arrives, everyone will have the change to get to know each other, then dinner at the hotel.
Ride across the Anti-Atlas Mountains covered with argan trees. You will have a coffee break in the small mountain village of Talouine, here saffron is produced and sold. Further over the mountains to Tazenakht, a small off-road meeting place and the center of production for traditional Berber carpets, which are very colorful sheep wool carpets dyed with natural colors, Glaui. Further through, impressive palm oases over mountain crests to Zagora. There you will spend a night in a gorgeous hotel with a pool surrounded by palm forest.
The first stage is over two mountain crests, then the desert feeling starts. First, you will drive with the jeeps on dirt roads through the stone desert where you can observe numerous mirages. Afterwards, you will dive into the sand dunes of the Sahara, where you will meet the team of nomads at lunchtime. After lunch, you will mount a camel and ride deeper into the desert, and spend the first night in a tent camp in the dunes.
In the morning, after breakfast and the yoga class, you will hike through the dromedaries further into the desert, accompanied by the leaders. At noon, a traditional dish of the Sahara nomads is cooked for you. In the evening, you will head back to the Bivouac camp. When mantra singing at the campfire together with the locals, you will enjoy the incredibly beautiful sky full of stars and the healing silence of the desert.
After a wonderful breakfast, you will walk beside or ride on the dromedary through the dunes. They say the desert purifies the soul and is actually a very touching place. Here you will learn from the nomads how to bake bread in the sand. In the evening, you will return to the romantic camp in the desert. On request, there will be a drum workshop with the nomads.
After the yoga practice and breakfast, the group will be heading back and out of the desert dirt and sand tracks. You will enjoy lunch at the hotel. You will also spend the night again in the idyllic hotel in the oasis village.
You will be driving back to Taroudant. Here you will have some free time in the afternoon to walk through the city, to go shopping at the bazaar, or to simply relax by the pool.
You will have breakfast at the hotel before heading back to your home. You will need independent transfer going to the airport.
Marion is a Hatha yoga teacher with 30 years of teaching practice in different forms of movement. She imparts her extensive professional knowledge with love and humor. Regular trainings in Anusara yoga, Power yoga, Prana flow, Vinyasa yoga, yoga therapy, hormone yoga, Luna yoga, Jivamukti yoga, and Asthanga yoga inspire her varied classes. She used to be a full-time freelance artist and set decorator at a theater until she discovered the magic of the desert in Morocco in 2009. Since then, she is living in a fishing village in the south of Agadir.
This retreat will take place in several locations around Morocco namely Taroudant, Zagora, and the dunes of the Sahara Desert (Erg Chegaga).

For the retreat, breakfast and dinner are included and will be served in the respective hotel. You will have lunch in very nice traditional restaurants while on the road. The food in Morocco is very varied and good. There is a strong French influence, remaining from the colonial era. Fresh fruits and vegetables of local farms are available in the local markets.
The traditional dish is tajine, a dish cooked in a clay pot over the fire, vegetarian if desired, with lamb, chicken, fish or beef, mixed with vegetables, dried fruits, pickled lemons and olives and wonderful spices. Patisserie with almonds, lemons, dates, and dessert. The national drink is the "thé à la menthe," a green tea with mint leaves and fresh sugar.

You can easily walk through the city, go shopping at the bazaar, or simply relax by the pool when not in the Sahara. While in the Sahara, you can walk around, talk to the nomads, or simply relax.
Please book a flight to Agadir Airport (AGA). Transfer from the airport to Taroudant is included in the price. Transfer to the airport on departure day is not included in the price, but it will approximately cost 20 EUR.
