This activity holiday takes place in a real hiker’s paradise in a national park in the south of Morocco. It includes hikes along endless beaches and secluded bays, a visit to a fishing village, and the majestic dunes of Tifnite. You will observe the diverse wildlife of the national park, travel to Agadir for one day, and visit cave houses and traditional villages. Daily yoga practices will take place on the stunning terrace looking over the sea.
All ages are welcome as participants.
Throughout the retreat, you will exclusively stay in a very beautiful oriental hotel with a nearby beach and gardens.
During days two to seven, there will be daily yoga practice, meditation, and breathing exercises in the morning and evening. During the 2016 retreat dates, there will be ten yoga sessions in total with the henna workshop included while in the 2017 retreat dates, there will be eight yoga sessions in total with the henna workshop as an optional choice, which will have an additional cost of 10 EUR per henna tattoo.
Transfer from the airport to the hotel in the National Park of Souss Massa, then check-in at the hotel. There will be free time to arrive and get to know the surroundings and each other. Dinner will be at 19:30.
After breakfast, you will hike through the national park to the lagoon through eucalyptus forests along a river and back to the wonderful beach. Here you will be able to observe many different bird species. In the afternoon, there will be a henna tattoo workshop or you can enjoy some free time at the beach.
You will have a wonderful breakfast on the terrace and drive to Agidar to get to know the city, the bazaar, the market for vegetable and spices, the carpet shop, and the marina. The excursion to Agadir will be 50 kilometers far from the hotel. It will take about 50 minutes. There you will eat fresh fish in a modern restaurant at the port. You will take a walk at the six-kilometer long beach. When traveling back in the later afternoon, there is an option to visit a pottery.
The trekking tour will take about four hours. You can expect a stunning landscape with flocks of sheep, goats, and tents of nomads. You will hike through an impressive dune landscape behind a romantic fishing village. At noon, everyone will eat fresh fish at a restaurant directly from the beach. If you want, you can ride a dromedary along the beach or through the dunes.
There will be no yoga in the morning for this day. You can either sleep in or join an excursion to Marrakesh, which is optional and is not included in the price. You can also go surfing, body boarding, or relaxing.
Today, you will hike from bay to bay above the cliffs until you get to a small fishing village. The hike will take about three hours. You can expect secluded bays with shell sand and multifaceted coast lines. You will visit cave houses of the fishermen, collect shells, and create mandalas. You will be able to relax in the afternoon.
You will have a free day for relaxation, walks at the beach, a Turkish bath, wellness, swimming, and many other options. There will also be no yoga in the evening.
The group will bid goodbye to each other. There will be free time until you go off to the airport on your own.

Marion is a Hatha yoga teacher with 30 years of teaching practice in different forms of movement. She imparts her extensive professional knowledge with love and humor. Regular trainings in Anusara yoga, Power yoga, Prana flow, Vinyasa yoga, yoga therapy, hormone yoga, Luna yoga, Jivamukti yoga, and Asthanga yoga inspire her varied classes. She used to be a full-time freelance artist and set decorator at a theater until she discovered the magic of the desert in Morocco in 2009. Since then, she is living in a fishing village in the south of Agadir.

For the retreat, breakfast is included and will be served in the respective hotel. You will have lunch in very nice traditional restaurants while on the road. The food in Morocco is very varied and good. There is a strong French influence, remaining from the colonial era. Fresh fruits and vegetables of local farms are available in the local markets. The dinner will always be served outside of the hotel. It will be in a cave, a private fisherman's house, with nomads, in another hotel, or in a private villa.
The traditional dish is tajine, a dish cooked in a clay pot over the fire, vegetarian if desired, with lamb, chicken, fish or beef, mixed with vegetables, dried fruits, pickled lemons and olives and wonderful spices. Patisserie with almonds, lemons, dates, and dessert. The national drink is the "thé à la menthe," a green tea with mint leaves and fresh sugar.

In the months that the retreat is available, temperatures may differ. In November, Marrakesh and Agadir could reach 24 to 29 degrees Celsius while the desert could reach 25 to 30 degrees Celsius. In March and April, Marrakesh and Agadir could reach 23 to 30 degrees Celsius while the desert could reach 25 to 35 degrees Celsius. In October, Marrakesh and Agadir could reach 25 to 32 degrees Celsius while the desert could reach 30 to 35 degrees Celsius. You will be hiking through different climates and climbing up to 2500 meters in the mountains. During the winter months, it can be quite cold at night.
At customs, you have to fill in and submit a form, which is previously distributed on the plane. It asks in which city and which hotel you will stay. For entry, a passport is required, which is valid for a minimum of six months.
Moroccan Dirham cannot be imported, but you can easily change money anywhere in hotels and exchange offices at the same rate as in the bank. In the big cities, there are ATMs everywhere. The current exchange rate is 1 EUR equals to 10.6 MAD. At the airport, you should change money only after the meeting point, there you get a better rate.
Please note that many German, Austrian, or Swiss banks have suspended the use of debit cards for Africa. Please check that in advance and make sure, if you plan to use the card, that they are fully accessible for you in Africa.
Please bring a yoga mat (or rent one on-site for 15 EUR), warm yoga clothing, trekking shoes, wet cleaning wipes, sunscreen, and lip balm.
Yoga mats are not included in the price of the retreat, but you can easily rent one for 15 EUR. The payment should be sent along with the payment for the retreat.
