Chartfield Guesthouse evokes the spirit of a time when everything was done with a little more style and a lot more attention to detail. Lovingly restored, Chartfield Guesthouse is nestled in this quaint seaside village, where the pace and charm is reminiscent of a bygone era while every modern convenience is provided for.
Most of the rooms have unrivalled sea views and are decorated in a comfortable and contemporary style. All the rooms are named after the boats in the Kalk Bay harbor and the cool ocean breeze whispers through the open windows, bringing with it the faint sounds of the sea and maritime scents of the village below.
There are three different room types: the loft with its own private balcony and an amazing sea, mountain, and harbor view; stunning sea-facing deluxe rooms, and beautiful standard rooms. All the rooms are furnished with a king size bed (possible to have twin beds), a flat screen TV, safe, hairdryer, and en-suite bathroom. Internet and wifi access is available on request.
During this retreat you will practice yoga daily and you will get to experience everything the region has to offer at the crossroads of the Indian and the Atlantic oceans. You will take part in numerous excursions throughout the week such as kayaking, jazz safari, cooking class, hiking, and aerial cable ride of Table mountain.
You will also have the option to take the tour of the winelands. The retreat will end with a sunset Catamaran cruise! You will celebrate the start of spring and new beginnings while developing your own self-knowledge and awareness.
Paddle in the vicinity of this, the fairest Cape. View the dramatic Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope, as it was seen by thousands of sailors throughout history - from the sea. Depending on conditions there is also the option of transiting around Cape Point, the Cape of Storms, and the Cape of Good Hope - one of the Everests of the world's oceans. Along the route to where the Indian ocean meets the Atlantic ocean you will see African penguins, seals, dolphins, and whales all seeking protection of False Bay.
Take the aerial cable way up the mountain; you will be treated to spectacular views of the city, Devil's Peak, and Lion's Head. Table mountain is a must see while in Cape Town and will provide you with plenty of photo opportunities, especially if you are into animals: rock hyrax, porcupines, mongooses, and more live on the mountain. You will hike down the mountain and experience the Wynberg caves and sandstone tunnels, but not before having lunch at the famous Table mountain caf on top of the mountain.
Experience South African music and food on this cultural excursion. Start at a musicians house for drinks and history of jazz in South Africa. The walking tour components allow the visitor to feel, smell, and listen more closely. The emphasis is on fun, real-life inspirational stories: the musician also talks about life and culture. You will then stop for dinner and enjoy cultural food while enjoying local musicians jazz talent.
Enjoy the last night viewing Table mountain and Cape town at sunset from Table bay and the Atlantic ocean. You will set sail on a Catamaran sail boat while enjoying cocktails, and the abundant marine life that live just beyond the breakwater. A perfect way to end an adventurous week, relaxing as the sun sets with beautiful landscape as the backdrop.
You will visit the South African winelands and estates of Stellenbosch, Paarl, and Franschhoek. First stop will be on a beautiful estate with stunning Cape Dutch architecture before tasting their smooth wines. Carry on to the picturesque Stellenbosch for a University and town drive before taking to the mountains for another tasting on this spectacular drive. At Paarl, we will stop briefly at the prison where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated. Historical and architectural town drive in Paarl follows as you head for an estate to finish with a wine and cheese pairing - eight wines and cheeses to be tasted.
The retreat will take place in Cape Town, South Africa. This city is famous for its harbor and natural setting in the Cape Floristic region, as well as for such well-known landmarks as Table mountain and Cape Point. The region is rich with history and geography, as Cape Point is where the warm Indian ocean meets with the cold current of the Atlantic ocean, creating beautiful landscapes and wildlife not seen anywhere else. You will be staying in the town of Kalk Bay, situated on the Indian Ocean side.
