For this special yoga retreat you will be staying at the luxury Hotel Dar LOussia. Situated right at the entrance to the Medina, this stunning Riad boasts the best location in Essaouira being inside the walls of the Medina and right on the beach too. It is elegant, stylish and decadent and the team of professional and friendly staff is on-hand day and night for the duration of your stay.

The rooms are elegantly furnished in contemporary Moroccan style teamed with modern comforts. For our solo-travelling guests, you will be staying in the Comfort Rooms, and for those either travelling with someone or opting to share, you will be staying in the Lux Rooms.

The terrace has one of the best views in Essaouira with full undisturbed beach views, harbor and Medina views. Watching the sunset from up there is simply breathtaking and when the weather suits we will enjoy breakfast on the elegantly presented dining area, in the sun.

Dining in Dar LOussias signature restaurant is a culinary experience to rival the best of restaurants in Europe. With an epic setting of open fires, candelabra and extraordinary art, it is a dining experience you will never forget. We will enjoy three evening meals at the restaurant as part of your retreat.


Releasing yourself from unnecessary tensions

Here we will enjoy hours of yoga, workshops and meditation and the yoga studio is available for your use for the duration of your stay. We start our day with a 120 minute yoga class, followed by a delicious breakfast in the sun on the roof terrace. The rest of the day is yours and there is so much to see and do and enjoy. Round off the day with a 90 minute evening yoga class and mediation.


Start the day each morning with a dynamic yoga class of 2 hours. With a lovely long class, we have plenty of time to warm up, and enjoy an extra long savasana at the end. This is followed by a group breakfast on the sun terrace where you can relax with a healthy meal, a cup of fresh local coffee or some herbal tea and freshly squeezed orange juice.

During the day of this yoga trips there is free time and you can partake in any one of the organized group activities or choose to do nothing, and relax on the beach or at the Riad. Round the day off with an evening mediation and 90 minute restorative yoga session which will be followed by dinner, there are 3 evening meals included.

Retreat location

Essaouira is situated on Morocco's Atlantic Coast and has long been a tourist destination and Jimi Hendrix spent time here, yet is just slightly off the main tourist path and remains a little known gem It is situated midway between Marrakech to the North and Agadir to the South and can be easily accessed from both. Essaouira stands on a vast bay that sweeps south with miles and miles of golden sandy beaches in every direction. The colors of the surroundings are beautiful, blue, white and yellow.

Around Essaouira you can ride horses down the beach, go on a camel trek, try out the world class surfing, windsurfing and kite surfing or hang out in a local coffee house with the locals. Take a walk around the town and get to know the myriad of streets, lanes and alleys. Bargain for leather goods or watch the belly-dancers. Or perhaps you want to hang out on one of the terraces on a sun lounger reading a book and getting a tan.

Extra activities

  • Golf: There are a few good golf courses locally, please contact us for more details if you are interested in golfing.
  • Hammam and spa: No trip to Morocco is complete without a good old scrub down at a Hammam. Much like a Turkish bath, they range from cheap and authentic to luxurious and decadent. There are many beautiful and affordable spas in town, and prices are apx 30% of what they would be at home for hours of pure heaven!
  • Horse, quad and camel riding: You can take a camel trip right on the beach or further into the desert. There are horses you can go out on too in the area, either for a relaxed ride or a gallop down the beach!
  • Shopping: Essaouira is a shoppers Mecca with market stalls lining the medina. Leather is produced locally and hand crafted. There is also beautiful jewelry and you can find just about anything if you look. Argan oil is a local specialty and no trip to Morocco would be complete without returning with your own Tagine! Bargaining is part of the experience and you'll find the Moroccans to be courteous and fluent in many languages!
  • Surfing, wind surfing and kite-surfing: With a long Altantic Coast and many long point breaks Morocco is a famous destination among surfers. With a consistent swell and off-shore winds for most of the year its no wonder why. There is break for everyone, whether you are a pro or a beginner. Essaouira is also a famous windsurfing and kite-surfing destination and there are many surf schools offering lessons and rental.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

There are 2 international airports: Marrakech and Agadir. Airlines flying to Marrakech are Ryan Air, Easy Jet, Royal Air Maroc and Atlas Blue. In the meantime Airlines flying to Agadir are Aer Lingus, Thompson Fly, First Choice, Easy Jet, Sunway and Royal Air Maroc.

Arrival by bus

From Marrakech there are buses to Essaouira : 80 dirhams + taxi to get to the bus stop (you will need to take a cab in Marrakech at the airport). From Agadir there are a few buses running this route per day. For prices and schedule please see

Arrival by taxi

There are also Grand Taxis as the option of transportation. These are shared taxis also knows as Common Taxis and depart to and from the airports from all major cities. They are much cheaper but you need to allow extra time as they will not depart until they are full. Local taxi is also available. You can get on at the airport and will have to bargain for the price. From Marrakech around 700 1000 dirharms and from Agadir around 700 1200 dirharms.
