Finish the summer strong with a week of inspiring yoga, surf lessons, relaxation, delicious food, and playful adventure in one of Yogascape's favorite countries on earth. Join them on this amazing adventure at Maderas Village, on the famous surf coast of Nicaragua. Gloria will guide you in daily yoga practices in the open air yoga platform and jungle studio, while the crew at Maderas will prepare amazing meals and great surf lessons.
There is a range of accommodation to choose from, to suit every traveler's need. All rooms are a lovely mix between rustic charm and stylish design with a sustainable touch. Some private rooms have private baths, while others have shared baths. Rooms are located in larger cabanas or in stand-alone structures (casitas). Nicaragua is hot and while the lack of hot water for showering might seem like a disadvantage, you find it’s really not necessary.
There are five beds in each dorm and there will most likely be one all female dorm and one coed dorm. There is a shared bathroom and the dorm is located closer to the common area so it can be a bit noisier.
In a shared room, if you come with a friend or a partner you will have a private room for two. If you are coming solo you will be in a room of two or three people. The shared rooms are a bit nicer and quieter than the dorm rooms.
Most premium rooms are in the casitas which are stand-alone units in the quietest part of the village. They are the newest units and can be described as comfortable, cozy, airy, and well designed. There is also a premium room with a king bed that is in the back of one of the big Casas with a private bath.
Private rooms are for one person and you can choose between a standard private or a premium private.
Yogascapes foster an environment of advancement, where your level of skill isn’t nearly as important as your level of passion. Paddle out, charge hard, smile, and you’ll fit right in with the rest. The home break is Playa Maderas, a beach break that works best during the two hour period on either side of high tide. Due to its location just west of Lake Nicaragua, Maderas gets hit with about 320 days a year of offshore winds, making its consistency uncanny. It averages waves of four to six feet in the rainy season (April to October) and two to four feet through the dry season (November to March). The water temperature ranges from 20 - 25 degrees, so there is never a need for more than a vest.
Rachelle Tratt is a Los Angeles based yoga instructor, community leader, and Soulful entrepreneur. She created The Neshama Project, a yoga inspired and socially conscious jewelry company that gives back. Rachelle teaches from a very intentional place and truly offers her students an opportunity to fall back in love with their body and their life though her unique style of teaching yoga.
This retreat will take place in Maderas, Nicaragua. Maderas village is an airy, sustainably-minded surf village, nestled into a hillside jungle, overlooking Maderas beach. Guests describe the Maderas village as an undiscovered boutique resort, a summer camp for adults, or a retirement community for young people.
Nicaragua is full of natural beauty and a rich cultural history. While Yogascapes love to see people fall in love with the Maderas life and never leave, they also encourage people to experience the other parts of Nicaragua that make living here so much fun.

All meals are included in the price, except for the dinner out in town. Yogascapes take food very seriously. It’s personal to them. It’s not just the act of nourishment, but the source of energy. Nightly pre-fixed dinners are served to guests seated at the large communal table, and enjoyed over tales of surf and travel, philosophical quandaries, and debates of the mind.
Yogascapes will provide all meals during your trip (three daily) except for the night that you all go into town. Please let Yogascapes know as soon as you sign up for the trip or before you sign up if you have any special needs, food allergies, or other allergies, or any other special needs or conditions, dietary, or medical. Yogascapes can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options.
The crew at Madera can set up other activities, like a catamaran tour, horseback riding, or massages. While staying at the house, you’ll always find someone who wants to walk down to the beach, tell a surf story, share a surf secret, or debate a surf question. Yogascapes often take surf trips in their safari to Hermosa and Remanso (15 USD and 10 USD per person), as well as boat trips to more remote breaks of Colorado, Manzenio, and Panga Drops (30 USD per person).
Please book your flight to arrive at Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (MGA) in Managua, Nicaragua. Airport transfer is not included because everyone tends to arrive at different times, but usually there are two or three others that will want to share one and Yogascapes always help arrange it.
Just let them know your flight details and they can take it from there. It’s best to try to arrive between mid morning and mid afternoon, and depart noon onwards. One way transportation is 140 USD for four people, 120 USD for three people, and 100 USD for one to two people.
