Slip into a weekend of deep retreat in the High Sierras, where you'll revitalize your practice and rebalance your body and being. Soak up silky hot-spring pools, vast alpine prairies, delicious and healthy meals, dynamic five-element yoga classes, space for reflection and inquiry, and the chance to connect with amazing people from all over.
Accommodations are in both the Main Lodge and Globe Room (a 15-20 min walk from the pools and main lodge). The pools are clothing optional, so you can decide what is most comfortable for you. There are a few private warm tubs available.
Yoga sessions will utilize the practices of mindful movement along with the philosophy of Chinese Medicine to more deeply connect with ourselves and the earth.
In keeping with the cycles of yin and yang, morning classes will open, uplift, and energize while evening classes will nourish, restore, and invite deep insight.
Each class will focus on one of the elements so that you can attune to the cycles of your inner and outer worlds and come into balance with the spring season of growth and expansion.
Britt and Colette will offer the support of five-element philosophy, earth-based ritual, chanting and resonant sound, hands-on assists, and self-massage techniques to invite ease and integrate the practice.
You will practice on Friday night, twice on Saturday, and on Sunday morning.
Ease into the weekend with an opening circle and Yin yoga practice designed to reboot the nervous system and balance your inner waters. After class you'll enjoy a nourishing group dinner and settle into the surroundings. Soak under the stars or cozy up with a cup of tea.
Today you'll open to the elements that govern growth, connection, and grounding. Grab a cup of coffee or tea before the energizing morning practice, which will focus on cleansing and cultivating the vision of the wood element.
After breakfast, there will be plenty of open time to explore the hiking trails, soak in the springs, indulge in a massage, and enjoy lunch. For those seeking more guided practice, Britt and Colette will offer an optional midday class to stoke internal fire through mindful movement.
Later, you'll sink into evening with a Restorative yoga practice governed by the earth element of inner nourishment and rounded out with lots of hands-on assists. End the day with a healthy, hearty dinner.
After your morning cup, you'll come together for the final class of the retreat: a yoga practice inspired by the metal element of clarity, breath, and space. You'll seal the practice with a special closing circle and then enjoy a delicious brunch together before heading home.
Britt began to seriously study health and movement in New York City with master teacher, Maty Ezraty in 2014. She completed her 200-Hr in-depth yoga training at YogaWorks in Soho. After moving to San Francisco in 2014, she became a Holistic Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Most recently, she completed a Yin Yoga and Meditation training led by Tiffany Cruikshank in Cadiz, Spain.
Colette is a Shiatsu practitioner and yoga instructor based in the Bay Area, where she is currently earning a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. Yogascapes recommends flying into Reno (RNO), Sacramento (SMF), San Francisco (SFO), or Oakland (OAK) airports and either renting a car or carpooling with other guests. It is easiest to find carpools from SFO/OAK. Transportation to/from the retreat is not included but Yogascapes can help set up shared rides among guests.
Check in to rooms begins at 3 p.m., but you can arrive as early as noon to soak. Yogascapes will meet you at check in. Plan your departing flight with enough time for driving after the brunch on Sunday.
