Safari cottages

The campsite is private with just four twin cottages, each with their own bathroom. The communal area has a kitchen, dining room, indoor living and yoga space, and outdoor veranda and barbecue area. It is simple and comfortable. Yogasafaris will also have a chef and a game ranger on site. Prince Harry himself stayed in one of the huts in 2013. It is humble but comfortable and perfect for a retreat back to nature.

Please note that this is a walking and yoga retreat in a safari area, not a luxury safari. Luxury safari prices would start at triple the price of this. Therefore, you also have to forego such amenities as Wi-Fi, 24/7 electricity, washing machine, and daily linen change although the staff does clean the rooms every day. There is a discount if three people share the cottage. Superking bed (two twin beds made up together) and single occupancy can be arranged for a surcharge.


You will walk, meditate, practice yoga, and sleep amongst the incredible wildlife of Southern Africa.

  • Morning and afternoon walks with the ranger, seeing rhino, elephant, various antelope, hippo, crocodiles, and many more animals on foot
  • Daily meditation and yoga with experienced teachers

Every day, you will wake up to the sounds of the African bush, walk at dawn in the footsteps of elephants, and observe rhinos from a safe distance, on foot, with just the trees and your trusted field guide between you.

You will then return home to a wholesome brunch on the veranda and watch the wildlife come and go around the camp before enjoying being in your body through an expertly guided yoga practice, exploring further areas of the wildlife area by car in the afternoon, or walking to visit the hippo by the river. After returning to base for a wholesome plant-based barbecue, you will fall asleep early to the sound of the African bush.

Walking safari

Yogasafaris has their own private ranger to take you on walks every morning and afternoon (all activities optional - relaxing on the veranda is wonderful and you can see many animals from there too). He will guide you safely and share invaluable insight into the ways of the fauna and flora around you. You have the chance to see almost all the South African bush animals that live in the region and almost guaranteed to see rhino, elephant, various antelope, hippo, crocodiles, and many more.

Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Park

Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Park is one of Africa's most scenic areas and home incredible wildlife including the big five (elephant, rhino, lion, leopard, and buffalo). It is the oldest nature reserve in Africa, as well as the birthplace of rhino conservation, thanks to this it has the largest population of white rhino in the world.

Coffee, tea, fruit, muesli bars, and rusks are available throughout the day. You will be served light breakfasts with a hot drink, muesli, milk and milk options, rusks, and fruit, brunches with toast, salads, options for eggs, etc., and hearty vegetarian meals and barbecues at the end of the day.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at King Shaka International Airport (DUR). Yogasafaris recommends renting a car at this airport (rentals start at 70 GBP for the whole week). If you are interested in carpooling, please get in touch. For anyone who would like to drive up in convoy, they will be leaving from Ballito on Sunday, August 30th (about two and a half hours drive to park gates).

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 30% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
