The Dusun resort has four private houses that can accommodate up to two adults and two children (with the exception of Berembun house). Each house has a full equipped kitchen with basic crockery utensils, pots, pans, and even some kitchen ingredients. Instant coffee and tea are also available in each kitchen. Each house also hosts its own barbecue pan and The Dusun will provide the charcoal and light the barbecue on request.

The resort also has two infinity pools, shared by the houses so you can enjoy a sense of space and privacy. Both pools are surrounded by timber decking and furnished with carved benches and loungers. The pool close to Perling house has a children’s wading pool.

BereMbun house

This Malay-style house on stilts has verandas on two sides. The large veranda has a big carved bench for lazing and reading plus a small barbecue stove for private dining. It looks out onto the BereMbun Forest Reserve.

Perling house

This house is located just 10 meters from the lower pool and has a double unit with two self-contained apartments joined by the outdoor deck. With a traditional Malay design with modern touches, the house is named after a bird (the Asian glossy starling) that comes in flocks to eat the berries of the palm trees. The houses look out on the jungle and the roar of the river can be heard from them.

This is the original Dusun house and is an open concept house so the bedroom enjoys the view of trees and the distant Mantin hills. The bedroom and barbecue deck are on stilts while the kitchen and bathroom are on the ground. This house is named after the mature "Tembusu tree" which shades it throughout the day and fills it with scent during the flowering season.

Guided hike to the near waterfall

The jungle guide, Ah Kau, has been a hunter gatherer all his life. He nursed his late wife through 13 home births with plants he collected from the jungle. This easy hike will begin at The Dusun and will end at the waterfall.

Visit to the wet market

For those who do not live in Malaysia, the wet market is a must visit. Especially early in the morning, the market represents the very pulse of the small city, Seremban, and a real encounter with Malaysia’s colourful, odiferous, and loud personality. Most stalls are manned by independent grocers and growers and produce is as fresh as it can be. There is a food court with authentic stall foods including the famous Seremban beef noodles. There is also some batik and clothes to be found.

  • Atilia Haron

Atilia is a jazz singer and she has released two albums so far. She has performed in many local and international music festivals and has been nominated and won numerous awards locally and internationally. She obtained a degree in business studies majoring in marketing and advertising. Atilia worked in various advertising agencies, production houses, and post production houses as a producer for 10 years and quit to become a full time singer.

This retreat will be held at The Dusun resort in Negeri Sembilan, Malaisya. The Dusun is an 12-acre orchard resort close to Kuala Lumpur. The Dusun is located 800 feet above the sea level in the foothills of the Titiwangsa Main Range and is right beside the Berembun Forest Reserve; 4,000 acres of protected virgin forest rising to 3,900 feet.

This dipterocarp forest, little known outside the Orang Asli community, is rich in birds and plant life of all kinds.

The tigers died out a generation ago but there are still wild boar and deer although what you are more likely to see are giant millipedes, monkeys, and leeches. The Batang Penar river arises in this reserve and is a main source of water for Seremban.

The Dusun’s nearest neighbors are two Temuan villages. Pantai is in the Seremban district of Negeri Sembilan. Negeri is a unique state in Malaysia and most of its original Malay population came from the Padang region of Sumatra in the 18th and 19th centuries. They also have a distinctive cuisine which is celebrated in the Dusun kitchen.
