How the training works

The intensive course will be conducted over two months in Autumn 2021. It consists of 45 hours of contact studies, lectures, and practice with Laurent (over three weekends on every Saturday and Sunday, 15 hours per weekend including two hours lunch break) and approximately 15 hours of self-practice, study, reading, and assignments at home. Between each weekend, the attendees will be expected to complete their assignments, home studies, and self-practice.

This course is a 60-hour CPD training accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals UK (for yoga teachers only). To receive this accreditation, you will be expected to:

  • Attend and commit to the three weekends and show a good understanding and comprehension of the practice and the teaching of Yoga Nidra and the alternative techniques - 45 contact hours
  • Complete assignments and home studies including writing, reading, and recordings - eight hours (approximately)
  • Home practice: Yoga Nidra or relaxation techniques a few times per week during the duration of the training - seven hours minimum

All these hours apply whether you are looking to receive the Yoga Alliance Professional UK accreditation or not. The course is designed and written for both yoga teachers and any other trainees. Please note that the assignments and home studies are designed to support the theory and the content of the training. You will not be marked or judge on the results. Discussions and exchanges will rise from the results. They will help you understand the work and improve the way you teach and practice.

Course information

What is Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental, and emotional relaxation in which the distractions of the brain are contained, and the mind is allowed to be free. During this practice, one appears to be asleep, but the consciousness is functioning at a deeper level of awareness. Yoga Nidra has had a profound transformative effect on those who initiate its powers. The duration of each Yoga Nidra varies between fifteen minutes and one hour, depending on the general level of the students in the class.

Yoga Nidra is accessible for everyone, even those who have never practiced yoga before. Yoga Nidra has a wide range of therapeutic benefits. For instance, it can be a useful tool in managing the symptoms of stress, anxiety, and insomnia. Furthermore, its soothing and relaxing character makes it a valuable addition to the healing journey associated with serious illnesses. Furthermore, Yoga Nidra offers an opportunity to access a sense of inner peace and satisfaction which is invaluable, to say the least.

Laurent Roure has been offering yoga Nidra as a part of his classes, retreats, courses, and workshops for over a decade now. He was trained classically by the Bihar School of Yoga and incorporates these teachings into his approach which has been specially formulated for the contemporary citizen. Laurent’s approach is practical, meditative, therapeutic, and accessible to everyone who needs to inject physical, emotional, and spiritual support in their life.

The benefits of Yoga Nidra

  • Induces relaxation and facilitates bodily and mental restoration
  • Minimizes, manages, and counteracts the effects of stress, anxiety, and depression
  • Creates healthy relationships with your thoughts
  • Manages sleep disorders and insomnia
  • Enhances memory and learning capacity
  • Supports meditation techniques
  • Clears up the unconscious and awakens creativity
  • Allows you to get in touch with your inner self

Who this online course is for

Laurent is pleased to offer well-structured, concise, practical training for anyone who wants to offer Yoga Nidra teacher training as part of their bodywork classes, to private clients, or within health-care. The training starts with the traditional aspects of yoga Nidra within the yogic tradition but will also offer non-dogmatic and creative training using additional alternatives techniques from different non-yogic systems alongside Laurent’s own guided relaxations, breathwork, pranayama, and meditation techniques.

With these different tools in hand, participants on the course will be equipped to offer practices with varying themes that can be used in a range of settings with students of different needs. The training is thus open to yoga teachers, movement teachers, complementary therapists, psychotherapists and counselors, nurses, and anyone else who would like to incorporate yoga Nidra into their therapeutic and health care settings.

This course is also available to anyone who would like to acquire the knowledge and the wisdom of yoga Nidra and use it for their own discovery and self-practice. Besides health and wellbeing on a physical level, the training is also intended to raise awareness of the importance of yoga Nidra and meditation for mental and spiritual health. The world needs more Yoga Nidra teachers and practitioners to help restore harmony and balance, which is so often lacking in modern life.
