The accommodation will be at The Yoga House. With its natural surroundings and intimate setting, The Yoga House is the perfect place for the Thailand yoga teacher training participants to learn in a relaxed and supportive environment. The Yoga House is known for its amazing attic yoga shala.

Located on Koh Phangan, a magical and serene island in southeastern Thailand, The Yoga House offers a place to escape from everything for three weeks in order to fully immerse yourself in the Yogagati teacher training course. After spending time with Yogagati on Koh Phangan, with its beautiful unspoiled beaches, lush green nature trails, and dazzling sunsets, you will find your body, spirit, and mind transformed.

Upon completion of this yoga teacher training, students will receive certificate affiliated with Yoga Alliance. Registration with Yoga Alliance provides a globally recognized credential.

Yogagati's curriculum will take you through the basic mechanisms of the human physical and pranic body, while examining a yogic lifestyle, healthy nutrition and the ethics of yoga teaching and instruction. All of this will be rounded up with a lot of practice, observation, feedback, support and love.

The foundation of the Yogagati flow derives from and combines traditional forms of Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Yin Yoga. Yogagati flow is safe but challenging - physically, emotionally and spiritually - creating room for your own personal growth. It is also super relaxing, fun, and unconventional because they don’t follow, they innovate.

Furthermore, the course is taught over three weeks, ideal for those with limited time who want to obtain full certification or just deepen their personal practice. You don’t have to be flexible or be able to stand on your head, for Yogagati, what's more important is your willingness to learn. The course is structured in a way that supports participants of all levels, including beginners.

During your yoga teacher training in Thailand, practical lessons are delivered in Yogagati creative flow. If they had to describe in words what a Yogagati flow class feels like, it would sound something like this: the breath guides the movement, the movement guides the breath, and everything else falls into place in between your inhalations and exhalations.

You will flow through sequences of asana; offering strength, stamina, and flexibility free of pushing or forcing. The Yogagati motto is: "Don’t fight your poses". The aim of any yoga practice is not the end result, but the process you go through to get there. It’s the journey not the destination that is most revealing. You are invited to look, listen, feel, taste, and be present in that process.

Yogagati wants you to progress and experience growth within your skeletal structure, suppleness, and muscular strength and of course, experience the pure joy of being present in your practice. No matter how physical or meditative a pose can get, Yogagati is looking for the same result at the end of each class: a strong body, relaxed mind, balanced nervous and endocrine system, and massaged internal organs, all of which helps release tensions and toxins and promotes longevity and overall good health.

When the internal and external bodies are in a state of balance and unity, relaxation, and happiness, spiritual awakening becomes attainable. Your body and mind are detached from tension and your soul is set free. And that’s where the magic happens. How far you take it is up to you.

The Yogagati curriculum and 200-hour teacher training courses are Yoga Alliance accredited, upon completion of a Yogagati program, you will be awarded a certificate that will allow you to register with Yoga Alliance. Registration with YA enhances your credibility as a yoga professional since their designations are the premier forms of recognition for yoga teachers.

The registry provides global recognition of your knowledge, training, and experience. Studio owners feel confident hiring you knowing that your training meets high standards and students can trust that they receive instruction from a qualified teacher.

Teachings and practice

  • Hands-on and practical training of poses, their sequencing, flow, and reasons for each
  • Examination of the impact of each asana on the physical and subtle body
  • Asanas will be explored through their alignment points. Yogagati will consider commonly made errors and the variations to simplify or intensify the pose
  • Consideration of the importance of the joints and connective tissues and their role within asanas

  • The art of breathing. You will learn, practice and teach different types of breaths, their techniques, and functions. To name a few, you will explore Kapalabhati (cleansing breath), Nadi shodana (alternate nostril breathing), Bhramari (humming bee), Ujjayi (victorious breath), Shitali, and Sitkari (cooling breath).
  • Discussion of the benefits and contraindications of each breath and the pros and cons of breath retention
  • How to use these techniques as a separate practice as well as their place within asana practice

  • Various meditation techniques will be taught and practiced, in both walking and sitting settings
  • Exploration of the concept and understanding of samadhi and mindfulness, as well as mantras, chanting, and the tradition and meaning of mudras and bandhas

Teaching methodology

Yogagati believes that the best way to teach methodology is through instruction. They will take a hands-on approach rather than a lecture style class. They will cover primarily but not exclusively:

They will primarily focus on understanding the body’s mechanisms taking a holistic approach.

This unit will involve: a look at the basic mechanisms of the skeletal, muscular, endocrine, respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular, and nervous systems, without bypassing the importance of joints and connective tissue within the body, a study of subtle energy bodies including chakras, nadis, aura, koshas, and how they relate and interact with the physical body.

You will also explore the yogic lifestyle, what it means and does not mean, what are the types of diet that support such a lifestyle and how do they affect your physical and non-physical bodies.

The ability to effectively communicate and connect with class participants is one of the key aspects of a successful teacher. Yogagati will help you discover your unique teaching style and investigate different aspects of language such as the passive and active voice, speed, and selection of vocabulary.

They will teach you how to create, through your communication, a trusting and safe environment in which to practice.

Planning and Sequencing

As a yoga instructor, it is vital that you are able to plan and sequence your classes according to different needs, be it age, physical limitation, or injury. The Yogagati yoga teacher training will prepare you to teach a wide spectrum of people.

They will also work with you to determine how to teach in your preferred style and show you the principles of demonstration and observation, how to safely adjust asanas, and how to use modifications and corrections so that you can offer your classes to a broad audience and allow participants to practice safely.

To become a teacher and to excel in the yoga teacher training course you must physically practice the art of teaching. In this unit you will learn how to teach by observing experienced teachers and fellow trainees, receiving and giving feedback, practicing teaching for all levels by using the art of adjustment and assistance, practicing teaching for most common modern-day injuries, physical limitations, and disabilities.

Philosophy and ethics

These concepts will be looked at in a discussion style format, where you will explore:

  • Traditional yogic texts: Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and Bhagavad Gita
  • The works of Rumi, Pema Chödrön, and Thich Nhat Hanh, among others, will serve as points of reference for class discussions and self reflection
  • The traditional yogic notions of dharma-karma and yamas-niyamas will be analyzed as to how they fit into the fast-paced modern world
  • The concept of teaching yoga as a service and being of service to others
  • The ethics and lifestyle of a yoga teacher and practitioner, the importance of nutrition, on-going process of self-awareness, and the evolution of self

What next?

The yoga teacher training is, without a doubt, transformational and will leave you motivated to take the next step. Yogagati will cover the business part of yoga, including how to launch your teaching or yoga-related career and how to market your business, helping to prepare you for the next phase of your journey.

    great experience with Yogagati

CONS Cons: Can't think of any.

PROS Pros: Everything is just perfect. Teachers are very nice, supportive and very knowledgeable! They are all happy to share their experience and wisdom. Food is awesome with lots of variation and very healthy. Definitely a great treat after the classes. Location was good! Close to town, the Yoga House is really beautiful, surrounded with nature and with a swimming pool. Yogagati also arranged a Cacao Ceremony for us, it was amazing. What a great way to have fun and relieve stress and just be yourself.

    Amazing experience, great value

PROS Pros: The location is beautiful with the beach and forest. The staff at the resort are friendly and helpful and the teachers on the course are very knowledgeable and passionate about yoga and sharing their knowledge with the students. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The food is great and there are plenty of healthy, tasty options on the menu for whenever I felt peckish away from meal times. There were also other nearby beaches with great, cheap restaurants too. I made some beautiful friends and in a very short space of time my physical practice improved immensely and the inner journey that I'm still on following the course is immeasurable yet profound. Highly recommend!

Review by Sofia Botzios from Albania

CONS Cons: The accommodation was not good and the food was repetitive at the location. The course did not explore sufficiently the spiritual side of yoga and participants with particular flexibility were focused on.

PROS Pros: I liked the diversity of the programme, the flexibility and some of the instruction including the yoga philosophy. The course helped me to discipline and motivate and understand myself and accept and love myself.

Organizer response: Dear Sofia, thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We are so happy that you emerged from the course with such a deep, internal transformation as this is even more important than the physical asana practice. Thank you also for your feedback regarding the food and spirituality course content. We are always looking to improve our services and have taken your feedback on board to ensure that every student gets the most out of their training, and of course the delicious meals. Yogagati yoga teacher training courses exceed the Yoga Alliance minimum requirements for spirituality content in the 200hr YTT. We do hope you don’t judge the entire course on these couple of points as we feel the course was a success. The deep learnings, transformations and beautiful connections made between the students are immeasurable and the feedback we have received publicly and privately from other students has been very positive. If you would like to discuss anything further please feel welcome to contact us via email.

"The Yogagati yoga teacher training Thailand course was everything I needed and much more. Not only did I get my certification in yoga teaching, which I had wanted to do for some time, but I also came away from Thailand feeling like a new person, renewed, energised and friend to a wonderful group of people. It was a life-changing experience that has set me on a new course. Thank you Yogagati! "

"I came to Thailand in a bit of a state. I have a stressful, full-on job and I needed to get away from the pressure for a few weeks. Although I don’t want to teach yoga, I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who wants to have a thorough understanding of the ins and outs of yoga. My practice has improved to no end and I now get so much more out of my yoga sessions. I have found new ways to manage my stress better."

"I had been considering a career in teaching yoga for years and while I have been practising since my early 20s, I wasn’t sure if I had it in me to actually teach. Thanks to Patrycja and the Yogagati team, I am soon to set up my own yoga studio. The course taught me the essentials to teach but also gave me the inner confidence to believe in myself."

"I attended yoga teacher training in Thailand on my own and I was worried about not having anyone to speak to or hang out with. It wasn’t like that at all. Everyone was super friendly and Patrycja made me feel so welcome and at home. I now know people from all over the world and we all have yoga in common. I never thought I would learn so much and have such a great time. It was the best training course/holiday I’ve ever been on!"

I feel like I have an entirely new appreciation for yoga and whereas before the trip my practice was patchy at best, I now know it’s going to be a part of my everyday routine."
