Green Yoga India Yoga Alliance RYT 200 (Yin Yoga)

Ramona has done a lot of things in her life. At a young age, she was a qualified dancer on different types of dance, from classical to hip hop. She worked a very long time as a mortgage advisor. In 2010, after a burnout, she wanted to do yoga because of the importance of clearing the head and getting rid of the stress. She was very enthusiastic and started doing yoga many times a week. When she got the opportunity to quit her job, she went to India to do her 200-hour teacher training program for quality and modern multi-style yoga.

Curaçao is known for its pristine beaches, superb diving sites, and picturesque architecture. Curaçao is one of the most beautiful islands in the Southern Caribbean, just off the coast of Venezuela. It is an autonomous country within the royal Dutch kingdom and together with its neighbors Aruba and Bonaire, and it constitutes the so-called ABC islands or the Leeward Antilles. Located in the tropics, just 12 degrees north of the Equator, Curaçao has a warm, sunny climate all year round.

Many Dutch colonists grew affluent from the slave trade and the city built impressive colonial buildings. Curaçao architecture blends Dutch and Spanish colonial styles. The wide range of historic buildings in and around Willemstad has resulted in the capital being designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Land houses or former plantation estates and West African style "kas di pal'i maishi" or former slave dwellings are scattered all over the island. Some have been restored and can be visited.

While tourism plays a major role in Curacao's economy, it is less reliant on tourism than other Caribbean countries. Most tourists originate from the Netherlands, Eastern United States, South America, and other Caribbean Islands. It currently leads the Caribbean in cruise tourism.

The island's insular shelf has a sharp drop-off known as the Blue Edge. Scuba diving tourists often visit for this vista. Coral reefs for snorkeling and scuba diving can be reached without a boat. The southern coast has calm waters as well as many small beaches such as Jan Thiel and Cas Abou. The coastline of Curaçao features numerous bays and inlets which serve as popular mooring locations for boats.

Some of the coral reefs are affected by tourism. Porto Marie beach is experimenting with artificial coral reefs in order to improve the reef's condition. Hundreds of artificial coral blocks that have been placed are now home to a large array of tropical fish. You can eat everywhere and you will learn about local food but also international foods provided in the many lovely restaurants.

Shopping can be done in the center of Willemstad or in the shopping malls which are spread over Curacao. It is best to rent your own car although there is public transportation, the times of driving are not always known, and taxis are expensive.

    4 days in paradise

PROS Pros: There is so much to like about this yoga retreat. Nestled in the Tuscany hills, overlooking groves of olive trees and native forests, the reds and browns of the landscape, the view from the dinner table was magnificent. The meals provided at breakfast and dinner were traditional Italian fare, prepared by a local woman who really should open her own restaurant. Abundant and delicious! Yoga classes, ashtunga in the morning and yin in the evening provided a healthy balance. Delivered outdoors, next to the swimming pool, which provided a welcome retreat at the end of practice. The hospitality of both Ramona and Mark was first class. They went above and beyond to ensure all needs were met. They are beautiful, caring and compassionate people and of course their two dogs Bear and King are not to be overlooked or forgotten. I would highly recommend this retreat to travellers who want to experience life away from the tourist track and incorporate some yoga practice into their day.

Testimonials

  • Review by Renata from Netherlands

"In a spontaneous mood we decided, 3 ladies and "yoga enthusiasts", to spend a week together and go on a yoga holiday. Easier said than done because there are more than plenty available in all shapes and sizes and costs. On land, at sea, close-by or exotic, from spartan to luxury with combinations like yoga & surfing, yoga & disco and very often detox with juices etc. Not at all what we had in mind because we all have a quite different nature but all three of us look for fun in life."

"After a lot of searching, our eyes fell on YogaFlee. YogaFlee offered 1 week of yoga and wine in Tuscany."

"That seemed to be something for us. Every morning and evening a yoga lesson, cooked breakfast and dinner and during the day free as a bird to go where we want to. For example Rome, Pisa and hang out in the evening in one of the beautiful surrounding villages."

    ""

"We were very curious to find our place after a successful flight."

"That didn’t quite happen despite navigation and printed directions. After a lot of searching and a delicious lunch, the mood was good and Google Earth helped us out. After 3 km of bumps (they call it a dirt road) we encountered surprisingly little "Il Troscio"."

"What a magnificent farm, from top to bottom, well-kept and maintained where we could stay in "La Villa". Nice rooms, a sea of space, lovely beds and a great view from all the rooms."

"After our yoga teacher Ramona made us comfortable, the rooms were arranged and everything was in place, we looked forward to our first yoga lesson and were curious about the other participants."

    ""

"A personal and intensive lesson next to the large swimming pool, sun and blue sky, fantastic views of the beautiful scenery around us and a nice group of people. The beginning was already good. But it became even better. A delicious Italian dinner was waiting for us."

"And of course the wine. I knew the Italian cuisine was delicious but what Elisabeth (the cook) provided us with her team every day was the icing on the cake. Antipasti, Primo, Secundi and Dolce. Everything so fresh, feta al mano (made from scratch). Lets eat!!"

"The holiday could begin and what a holiday it was!"

"Every morning we were woken by (Hatha) Power yoga followed by a delicious breakfast, under the shining sun and with all the ambiance of Italy. Great bonding between our teacher and the group. The need to make long trips to Pisa, Rome or Sienna were soon gone. Small excursions in the surrounding area or to the coast were enough because our place had everything we would need."

"In the evening a relaxing Yin lesson and the culinary feast could start again. The evenings were very animated, lots of laughter and but also serious conversations. Nobody had the need to go to a village so the heels and dresses remained in the suitcase."

    ""

"It was Ramona and her team who managed to transform 3 ladies within a week into lean yogi's who don’t blink about standing on their head, doing 10 sun greetings and, I do not know how many, downside facing dogs, cobras and other complicated asanas. Because of that we were full of suppleness on the return journey in the ever-tough airplanes. We will miss this!"

    ""

"A more than amazing week that exceeded our expectations overall. From start to finish, perfectly taken care of, everything exceeded our expectations (environment, location, entourage, classes, atmosphere, food, company). We would prefer to keep this as our secret tip but that would not be fair. Ramona and not to forget her husband Mark deserve all praise and we hope many yoga enthusiasts can discover the most delightful combination of Yoga & Wine in Tuscany."

"We'll be back! Thank you so much for this fantastic week. We have enjoyed it so much and know now that a Yoga holiday can be really fun."

    "Renata (also known as Kwek)."

"Yoga in Tuscany, just the three of us, that was the plan. In one word; Amazing !!! The villa on arrival was perfect and provided all necessary amenities including a beautiful garden and pool, the area is gorgeous and vast. A chef freshly prepared our meals with local products, we were spoiled terribly !"

"And then the yoga completed it all, given by Ramona. Really good and so nice! Good explanation and adjustments to postures. Full beautiful yoga sessions, poolside under a light blue sky, listening to the birds and the wind. I really miss this!"

"In the morning the power yoga (a combination of ashtanga and vinyasa) is intensive and very nice."

"In the evening yinyoga, beautiful relaxing attitudes at sunset."

"Throughout the week I did not have a moment that I reluctantly went to the yoga lessons, I enjoyed every moment of my life."

"Actually, words fail me, this is something everyone has to experience."

    "Dear Ramona and Mark,"

"We will be back next year! Much love, Wasiliki"

"Number 3 of all three, is me and I really don’t what to say more than was already mentioned in the review of Wasiliki en Renate."

"You just really have to see and experience this yourself. We also had a great and fun contact with the other guests. Everything was just perfect and great. Nothing is obligated and you’re free to do what you would like to do."

"Dear Ramona and Mark until next year!"

"I had the luck to participate in Ramona's class where she was instructing an Ashtanga Primary series class. Her guidance was excellent, the verbal and hands on adjustment were equally strong and smooth. Her voice was clear for the whole class and she observed everything. Her demonstrations were at a tip top level and her class rather difficult as Asthanga has many challenging asanas in specific order. I enjoyed Ramona's class that day and i hope to be in another class of hers some day!"

"If you would like to have a serious yoga lesson, want to eat nice and healthy while enjoying a glass of wine (if you wish to) and in a beautiful location, then you are at the right place!"

"Ramona gives very good lesson with personal attention and challenges everyone at every level. She is very clear in her instructions and personally corrects your posture where necessary in a very pleasant way. Although I was very much a beginner, I was able to do very well with her, and learned a lot in a short while. In addition, Ramona and Mark are very nice people and extremely hospitable, making you feel very welcome. The food and the location do the rest."

    "An absolute must!"

"What a remarkable yoga holiday we had in Tuscany. From the very first moment we were welcomed with open arms by hostess Ramona and host Mark. It was an unforgettable trip for us, the house is situated in an oasis of calm, luxurious and stands on a hill in a fairy-tale-like setting. The excursions were great. Every detail was taken care of during this vacation. The 2 yoga lessons a day were incredible, after which we were always given a culinary surprise, the food, the company, the atmosphere, it exceeded our expectations and this holiday is certainly to be repeated. Thank you for all for taking care of us so well."

"No Yoga for me, I was “allowed” to tag along with my wife …. And was not bored for one moment, lovely relaxing atmosphere with great surroundings and views. You are made felt very welcome by the hostess Ramona and her husband Mark."

"The houses are good with all necessary luxuries and the breakfast and dinners are fantastic. At the recommendation of Ramona and Mark we visited Saturnia’s sulfur baths. It was a new experience for me and thoroughly enjoyed it. All in all, I highly recommend it and I enjoyed it very much. Thank you for this really nice experience."
