During your trip, you will be staying on the sailing ship Espanyol. It has an impressive 300 square meters of sail surface. She needs this and makes her a stable sailor, quickly but not obliquely. This classic two-master offers space for 12 guests and has three very nice crew members, who sail with skill and passion. Do you want to help, learn to sail, navigate and map reading? The men love it and you are welcome. Want to read your book in the hammock? They come to bring the refreshing drink.

The ship has 6 cabins with double beds. Each cabin has its own shower and toilet. Tip: do not take big luggage with you, because they won't fit under the beds. On the back deck, where there is always shade, is a large lounge sofa with pillows where you can relax and enjoy reading. Here you can find the imposing table where meals are served, enough space for 12 guests. The table must also be great because the cooks love to unpack big. Breakfast, with local and organic products, Datca bread with a hint of cinnamon, tomatoes olives and all the fresh fruit that the area has to offer and served in a creative way. An egg, cooked, fried, sunny side up, nothing is too much for the chefs. An allergy, vegetarian, vegan or something you just do not like, let YogaCruise know and it will be taken into account.

On the foredeck are the sun beds, exactly 12 so you don't need to get up early to claim your bed with your towel. Nice under the sun, are you well done? Let the crew roll out one of the shade cloths. Tip: always wear sunscreen. The solar power is enormous, also because of the reflection from the water. Protect your skin! We walk a bit further to the Espanyol, here is a cozy bank where you can drink a sun-downer or where lunch is served when the sun is not yet at its hottest. And then of course there is the bowsprit for the Titanic photo, no need to be ashamed; everyone does it.

The ship always offers the possibilities to charge your phone or laptop and of course there is WiFi available. You can't stream entire movies, because others might not be able to upload their Instagram photos. The cabins have spacious double beds, but nothing is better than turning your daytime sunbed into a mattress for the night. Take your duvet and your pillow out of your cabin and install for the night. Bottle of water, your phone for the photos of the starry sky (spoiler, this always fails, even with a tripod because you're sitting on a boat), chat with your neighbor and let yourself rock in a deep sleep. The spectacular sunrise makes you awake, it's yoga time!

In the morning when you wake up, it is windless. The sea looks like an intense blue billiard sheet, without any wrinkles. The copper sun that comes up is the billiard ball. Enjoy swimming, or first a cup of tea with some fruit. You'll have plenty of options. After the invigorating yoga class and a full breakfast, the captain starts the engine of the ship. Still no breath, no wrinkle, like a knife the ship cuts through the billiard table.

The ship leaves the safe bay and then suddenly something changes, the sheet starts to move. Wind, Neptune has turned on the wind. This always happens around 11 am and the captain knows it. He sends the ship with the tip in the wind, the crew quickly pulls up the four sails. 300 square meters of sail propels the ship, the engine is no longer needed and the silence falls over the ship. Looking for a new location to do yoga, swim, snorkel and relax. The crew knows the area as its thumb. In the morning the captain brings out the impressive sailing chart with the possible course.

You do not need a sailing experience as a yoga cruiser. The professional crew takes you to new locations every day. Cozy villages, bays with spectacular cliffs or just hidden spots. Wherever the ship is mooring, there is always a possibility to go ashore. If the ship is anchored, a crew member will take you to the shore with the dinghy. Do not forget your camera. You sail in the golf of Hisaronu and around the Greek island Symi. Here you'll find the perfect conditions for a pleasant sailing holiday. Always a stable wind but no high waves. And the nice thing about this sailing area is that the distances aren't too far. It is full of beautiful bays, villages and picturesque harbors, all with their own unique yoga location. A lot of variety in very comfortable circumstances, which defines this yoga cruise.

The yoga classes are taught by professional English and Dutch speaking yoga teachers. No yoga experience is required for this trip. If you already have experience, then the lessons are made more challenging for you. The yoga exercises are explained from the base and built up during the week.

At the end of the week you will see that you are more flexible and that following up the exercises is faster and easier. In the morning, the yoga classes are more sporty with powerful exercises. The afternoon classes are more slow. You stay a little longer in the postures, usually about 4 minutes, this way your muscles and the connective tissue will be stretched. You decide whether you participate in the lessons. There is no obligation. After all, it is your vacation!

Sun, sea, zen, sailing and Yoga. That is the yoga cruise, daily two different yoga classes aboard a classic wooden sailing yacht. Sailing experience is not necessary, because the professional crew sails you from enchanting bays to cozy towns. Twice a day in different places. For yoga, but also for swimming, snorkeling, supping and canoeing. Time to read that good book or to check your work email secretly, the sailing ship has a fast WiFi connection.

The chefs conjure up delicious dishes from their galley, fresh fish - often caught by the crew - meat and vegetable dishes. Vegetarian, vegan or allergy. Let us know, everything is possible. Besides no sailing experience, you do not need a yoga experience. The experienced teachers will give alternatives to every posture, make it easy or difficult for yourself, it's all up to you!

The yoga spots are inspiring, on the roof of a Greek Orthodox church, on an abandoned jetty or in an amphitheater, where Greek tragedies were performed. The groups are small, which often lead to close friendships. The afternoon class is quiet, mindful, you live in the present and you would want to keep it like this as long as possible. The ships are large, the afternoon lessons are sometimes given on deck.

The rippling water, the sun slowly sinking into the azure sea, the last posture is the Savasana, how can it be more relaxed than this. The ship has double cabins, all with their own toilet and shower cabin. But most yogis use the sunbathing mattress as a bed for the night and sleep under the dazzling starry sky. The farther from the inhabited world, the more spectacular the nights are.

You will fly to the Turkish airport Dalaman, the transfer service takes you to the port of Datca and the ship will soon glide into the Greek waters. Everything is included in this yoga trip. The meals and the drinks, also the alcoholic. We are not strict in the doctrine, no special diets and you can also drink a glass of wine. The only extra costs are two meals on land and your visa.

Included excursions

Everything is flexible. For example, excursions can be organized if you want. Walking, driving a scooter on Symi, visit local markets, hiking, a day of shopping in Bodrum, scuba diving, horseback riding, visit an olive farm, Knidos, a culture and art museum, Eski Datca, you name it!

Retreat location

On this yoga holiday you will sail to the picturesque bays of South West Turkey, in the Gulf of Hisaronu and to the colorful Greek Symi, an idyllic island, where you can only fall in love with. The great thing about this area is that you can sail between Turkey and Greece, which is a wonderful combination. The temperature of the water is perfect and during the summer, there is a constant sailing wind.

Things to do (optional)

Yoga and sailing, of course. There's no fixed route, the wind determines the next yoga spot. The captain will detect something, as he knows where the spots are with just a bit more shade, with exactly that refreshing breeze. The lessons will be held twice a day at two different locations. The teacher speaks English and Dutch, comes from the Netherlands or Belgium and is very experienced. Most teachers also offer massages at an additional cost. Besides the yoga classes, there is of course enough time to sunbathe on your own sun bed. Relax, read a good book, swim, snorkel, canoe or grab one of the SUP's and take a trip along the pine-covered bays. Or post a jealous making photo, there is a stable WiFi connection on the ship.

The bustling Greek town of Symi is one of the highlights of the trip. This former Italian colony belonged to one of the best preserved Greek secrets. Meanwhile, the Jetset is mooring here with its millions of boats. Have a drink on the front of the ship and see all the splendor pour in. Cozy terraces, top restaurants and alleys where it is wonderful to get lost, Symi has it all. In the evening you can enjoy drinking or dancing. The morning lesson in Symi is often skipped. What happens on Symi stays in Symi. You'll continue the journey. The sails are set, the ship sets course for a new location. Palmtreebay, Aquariumbay, Cleopatrabay, beauty and history have defined the name of the enchanting spots. One bay offers shelter from the wind, while the other offers refreshment. The professional crew knows what is needed. The last day begins. The ship will moor in its home port again. This is also where the Oribe van Datca has its salon. Total wellness, with manicured hands, pedicured feet and a new hairstyle you step back into the plane. A killer body, fit and with a totally new look, you arrive in the Netherlands.

Spa treatments

Depending on the yoga teacher it is possible to book a massage on the spot. Feel like having such a wonderful massage? There is no laundry available on board. So take 2 pares of towels with you or buy a nice hammam towel for a few euros on arrival (also a nice souvenir to take home!).
