    "Perfect balance"

Marisa and Maree are wonderful persons and their yoga is just great. It isn't difficult, but it isn't too easy either. Last but not least, he scenery is beautiful.

    "An amazing week"

Had an amazing week in Nungwi with yoga Zanzibar. The yoga classes were really good, Diane is an excellent teacher. We were also allowed to come with suggestions for the classes. The location of the yoga classes are so good, especially in the evening with the view of the sunset and the ocean. The garden at Casa Umoja was a great place to chill out and breakfast included a plate of fresh fruit and eggs, toast and pancake. Marissa, the organizer of the retreat is the warmest and most welcoming person I’ve ever met and did everything she could to make this a lovely week. Thank you🙏🏽

    "Wonderful Week in Zanzibar"

Initially I was booked to stay at Casa Umoja, but I decided that I wanted to be on the beach. I upgraded to the Flame Tree Cottages and it was well worth it. The location of Flame Tree was perfect. The beach was idyllic with white powdery sand and an endless horizon that lit up at sunset. The breakfast and food at Flame Tree was delicious and seemingly light; I was really impressed with the veg curry. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and the owner Saif, was especially welcoming and gave great tips about what to do. Yoga was twice a day with Alina Grinshpoon. She was a great teacher who was knowledgeable and intuitive.

The location of zanzi yoga on the rooftop is very nice, especially during evening sessions when you can watch the sunset.

    "Wonderful, peaceful and relaxing retreat."

This was my first retreat so I was a little nervous at first, but I was soon put at ease, I was collected from the Airport by Mussa, and Mussa made the one and half hour trip to Casa Umoja so entertaining, he told me all about the different parts of Zanzibar as we drove through them and we even stopped on the side of the road where he brought me a coconut to try.The Yoga was wonderful, I was a little nervous about doing two one and a half hour sessions a day but after the first few days I could feel my strength developing and I looked forward to every class. The Yoga is challenging but not over the top and our instructor Palma gave lots of variations to incorporate the different levels in the class. I even ended up extending by a couple of days I was enjoying it so much. The location for the classes are also wonderful especially the afternoon class.

    "Wonderful time in Zanzibar "

Perfect location for a yoga retreat. Marisa is one of the best yoga theaters I have practiced with. The accommodation was very nice and the meals were very good. Will definitely go back there again.

    "Wonderful"

Maree was an excellent yoga teacher, taking time to give personal advice and encouragement when needed. I’m a beginner and I’m amazed at how much progress I made both physically and mentally. I got more out of the course than I expected because she also led guided meditations every session, so it’s also a course in mindfulness. She has a wonderful personality and it shone through every day. The setting is also beautifull, you can hear and see the ocean from your mat. I was sad to leave.

This retreat exceeded my expectations. The instructors were wonderful and the classes were perfect. The setting was amazing-who can not feel rejuvenated gazing out into the ocean and feeling the breeze. Loved it!

    "Très bon séjour "

Les cours de yoga avaient lieu dans un hôtel avec vue sur la mer. Très beau cadre. La professeur adaptait le niveau en fonction des élèves. J’ai pu bénéficier de 3 cours particuliers car aucun autre élève ne s’est présenté.

"Perfect place for a yoga retreat"

The bedroom I had in Casa Umoja was really spacious and I enjoyed having the huge terrace for myself. I guess I have been lucky to get this room actually...

The fresh breakfast every morning was really good.

The yoga class happening few minutes by walk from Casa Umoja was in a really nice place. Morning yoga in the garden, under the shade. And evening yoga on the terrace, facing the sunset and the sea. Practicing yoga with the relaxing waves in a really nice experience. Maree, the yoga teacher was the best teacher I have never experienced. The rhythm of every class was really well managed. The tone of her voice is very relaxing and I liked every spiritual journey she was taking us into. Every class was different so I never get bored. It was really a pleasure to wake up every morning for this class and to end the day wth Maree as well. She brought a lot of positive thoughts in my mind. The class was well balanced between a realxing moment and a challenging effort. I discovered new postures and breathing/meditating technics that I never explored before.

The overall experience was amazing. Nungwi's beach is so beautiful and it is good to have time for personal activities between the two classes. I even managed to find some activities on a boat allowing me not to miss any yoga class.

    I really recommend it !

"Prachtige lokatie en heel warm onthaal"

De omgeving is te mooi voor woorden. Het domein wordt heel goed onderhouden en iedereen is supervriendelijk. De yoga wordt gegeven met een prachtig zicht op zee en wordt aangepast aan ieders niveau. De leraressen zijn top!

    from Tanzania,

I would rate it a 10. I love the flexibility of the personal retreat program of Zanzibar yoga. In the eight days, I missed only two classes because I scheduled other activities. It also helped me have some kind of schedule to my day to expect yoga in the morning and yoga in the evening. I had free time to explore the rest of the island which I appreciated. The morning and evening sessions were both located at Flame Tree Cottages but in different spaces. I enjoyed them both. The morning sessions were in sort of a cabana with a view of some beautiful plants and flowers. The evening sessions were on a rooftop with a view of this sea and the sunset.

The yoga instruction was fantastic. My instructor was Maree who had a lovely personality, an angelic voice, and led a great practice. She did a great job varying each class so that I did not get bored with a particular routine. Her classes had a challenging element, but also a lot of deep relaxation and introspection at the beginning and end of each class. Felt like an excellent balance.

My accommodations were the Z hotel. My only complaint about that hotel is that the Wi-Fi was very spotty. Otherwise, it is in a beautiful location and feels luxurious. It is very very quiet and comfortable. There is direct beach access and it's a short walk to Flame Tree Cottage through the village or along the beach depending on the tides.I heard that it had the best breakfast on the island, and I would concur. I also ended up eating most of my meals here as the food was fantastic, and there was they added convenience of putting all my meals on my bill and paying with a credit card at the end. The only ATM machines and cash available are over an hour away and Stone Town.

Would highly recommend and would do it again!
