Anahata Retreat is a beachfront property where you can truly relax and retreat. All Anahata Retreat's accommodations are a step away from the beach. Each room is well appointed with modern luxury and convenience, yet maintains a peaceful Goan feel. They were designed with refined elegance and built and furnished by local artisans. Their cosy interiors inspire feelings of calm and serenity. You will feel totally at ease in your “home away from home”.
Anahata Retreat has a total of 15 rooms divided into 4 categories: sea view suites, beach front eco-cottages, sea-view eco-cottages, and garden eco-cottages. The suites are designed in a Goan-Portuguese style while the eco-cottages are spacious, recycled wood cabins floating on stilts with palm-thatched roofs. Their octagonal shape makes them really unique.
Your yoga experience will start each day with pranayama and meditation followed by a flowing class of either Ashtanga or Vinyasa Yoga. Much emphasis will be placed on the breath, synchronizing breathing and movement in the asanas (pose) warms the blood, cleaning and thinning it so that it may circulate more freely. Improved blood circulation relieves joint pain and removes toxins and disease from the internal organs, healing the body from the inside out. The afternoon session will be designed around different, workshops, and group sessions including educational talks, breath work, Restorative yoga, inversions, arm balance, and the awareness of your body in connection to your yoga practice and mediation.
The name Vinyasa is a Sanskrit word that translates as "variations within parameters." Vinyasa yoga is a discipline that utilizes postures and breathing techniques. This form of yoga offers a range of health benefits to those who practice it, as it encompasses all areas of mind, body, and soul.
Derived from Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga is often faster paced and the asana (postures) are linked together in a series of movements that are synchronized with the breath. Much emphasis is placed on the breath, and the transition in and out of the asana. This practice can incorporate some kind of meditation before or after the class, and the practice itself is often considered a “moving meditation”.
The continual movements, from one pose to another, give you an added cardiovascular benefit, which more traditional forms of yoga do not have. The routine practice of Vinyasa Yoga can increase muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility. This will provide a strong core and reduce levels of stress. You can expect an increase in focus and concentration, even giving you a better night sleep!
Ashtanga yoga literally means "eight-limbed yoga". Ashtanga is a system of Hatha Yoga that synchronises breath and movement. What sets Ashtanga Yoga apart from the other approaches to Yoga is the way that the physical work is joined together by the means of Vinyasa - which means breath-synchronized movement. For every posture (asana) there are a fixed number of breaths and movements in and out of the asana.
The purpose of Vinyasa is for internal cleansing. Synchronizing breathing and movement in the asanas heats the blood, cleaning and thinning it so that it may circulate more freely. Improved blood circulation relieves joint pain and removes toxins and disease from the internal organs. The sweat generated from the heat of Vinyasa then carries the impurities out of the body. Through the use of Vinyasa, the body becomes healthy, light and strong.

When practised regularly, its purpose is to clean up the body and calm the mind. This will detoxify and rebalance and will develop flexibility, strength, muscle tone, and stamina. It is also a great aid to weight loss.
Zoe began her path in life as a dancer at the age of 4. This was her passion, which took her all over the world. Health and fitness has always been an important part of her life. At the age of 25, she started working as a fitness instructor. Zoe is now a trainer for ASI in SUP yoga and wrote the manuals together with ASI for SUP fitness level 1 and 2. Zoe brings love and compassion to her teaching. She has a gift at seeing other people’s abilities. Thus she can take them out of their comfort zone, and push them safely to their limits.
The retreat will take place on a quiet and secluded part of Ashvem beach, nestled amidst coconut palm trees and lush plantations, Anahata Retreat.
Anahata Retreat has its own al-fresco restaurant where the laid back atmosphere entices you in to taste their delicious, healthy and organic food, something to satisfy every palate. There is a beautiful on-site kitchen serving home-grown vegetables, fresh organic fruits, leaves and sprouts.
From the rooftop terrace overlooking the ocean you can enjoy a cooling drink; juices, smoothies as well as cocktails, wine and beer. There are also plenty of very inexpensive wonderful restaurants along the beach including the famous La Plage, a gorgeous French restaurant which is just steps away for Anahata.

"I have been attending Zoe Lee’s Ashtanga yoga classes for about 2 years, having practiced all different styles of yoga for many years. I also do stand up paddleboard yoga classes with Zoe. After my first Ashtanga class I felt right at home. The Mysore style was not like anything I had done before but Zoe's clear teaching made it easy for me to follow. Zoe’s knowledge and experience has helped me develop my strength and flexibility in a way that no other teacher has been able to. I particularly like that Zoe will notice your strengths and weaknesses and work with them to help you to improve. Now I feel more confident and comfortable in asanas since Zoe has helped me to build my strength up, creating the right balance. Zoe has taught me so much in her classes over the years. I would never have imagined that I would have been able to take my yoga to the level that it is at now. Her adjustments and support (physically and mentally!) has been a key to this. Zoes introduced me to Indo board yoga and SUP yoga last year, which I thoroughly enjoy. Her teaching on the water is perfectly adapted to ensure a safe and productive SUP yoga class. She ensures all asanas are suitable for the SUP and she ensures that students at all levels are getting all they can from the class. I have learnt many Sanskrit name and chants since attending Zoe’s classes which I had very rarely heard being used before. Zoe has also taught me a lot about other elements of yoga such as the Yamas and Niyamas. She has inspired me to live a different way of life and to think and act differently."

I have made great progress over the years and although I am now 67 years old I still feel I can keep progressing. She is a skillful, enthusiastic and stimulating teacher, and very good at adjusting and also picking up any limitations in one's body and finding ways to improve them."
