Holland House is a tranquil retreat center set in three acres of beautiful gardens at Pershore in Worcestershire. It is centered around a 16th century half-timbered, partly thatched building, with the River Avon flowing by. You will be able to have the run of the old house with its drawing room, library, and beamed dining room. The workshops will take place in The Den, a light and airy space with underfloor heating, set in the grounds.

There will be eight yoga and meditation sessions starting early evening on Friday and finishing before afternoon tea on Sunday. Morning practices will be more invigorating, while evenings will be calming and restoring. During this holiday, you will also explore a range of practices, such as the asana or movement practice; pranayama or breath practice, meditation, and yoga Nidra for deep relaxation.

Gently and safely taught, the weekend is suitable for beginners or more experienced yogis wanting to experience a therapeutic approach and to clarify and establish resources to sustain through the coming winter season.

  • Chris Holt

    Chris trained with the Amrita School of Yoga Teacher Training, qualifying as a traditional Hatha yoga teacher in 2008 and registered with the Independent Yoga Network. Since then, she has been developing a gentle and restorative approach to yoga and studying with Susie Hately and Judith Lasater. She has also assisted Judith in training other yoga teachers in restorative yoga. She is a registered Relax and Renew restorative teacher and a British Wheel of Yoga qualified teacher of yoga in prisons. She has also had training from U. Dinsmore, Rod Stryker, Sandra Sabatini, Sophie Hoare, and others.

Holland House is a member of the Sustainable Restaurant Association, so all food is prepared and freshly cooked each day from local ingredients. There are fruit juices from the Vale of Evesham and honey from the beehives in the garden. Meals are generous and there are home-baked cakes and biscuits for afternoon tea.

Arrival by train

Arrive at Evesham mainline station; the journey is two hours from London Paddington. Then, take a 10-minute bus ride or take a taxi to Holland House, Cropthorne. The cost of the taxi ride is approximately 12 GBP.

    "Thank you for making the retreat a lovely relaxing weekend. For me, the rejuvenation has carried on. I have always practiced Hatha yoga and you brought home to me the importance of breathing into the posture, which enabled me to stay with it. Perhaps the walking meditation around the grounds of Minsteracres and the guiding relaxation in the evening comes top for me, but so did the yoga workout. It was good to have a friendly group as company during mealtime, but they also respected each other's need for quiet time. I love your 10-minute yoga CD and the fact that the sessions can be practiced individually; they are part of my daily routine now."
