Tigmi is no ordinary hotel. Meandering corridors and courtyard paths will lead to twenty four authentically furnished and comfortable rooms. You will enjoy plunge pools, secret terraces, charming gardens, and a myriad of quiet corners in which to relax, read, and recharge. With two pools, a number of plunges, and a wealth of beautiful aromas, the stunning gardens at Tigmi are yours to enjoy.
Mazy paths lined with banana palms and citrus trees lead you around the beautiful gardens. Roses, hibiscus and bougainvillea, bring a delicate aroma and add bursts of colour to Tigmi’s garden walls. Bask in the sun, or seek out the shade. The terrace is showered in sunlight and offers stunning views of the Atlas Mountains.
It’s also home to the first of Tigmi’s two pools, perfect for cooling off with a quick dip, or stretching your legs with a relaxing swim. Inside a shady, secluded garden, you will find the second pool; solar heated all year to 26 degrees and surrounded by comfortable divans, it makes for an irresistible sanctuary from the Moroccan heat.
The Berber rooms have handcrafted Berber furnishings over flock wallpaper. With its Intimate and quirky design, they are decorated with locally woven cushions, covers and wall hangings, and stocked with specially made bath, shower, and body products. Located in both the old and new areas of the hotel, many are inter-connected, allowing them to be converted into family suites that sleep four.
In these, as in all the rooms, doors can be secured to keep children safe. The Berber bedrooms in the oldest part of the complex open onto the garden pool. The Berber rooms have and open fireplace in either bedroom or separate sitting room, a luxurious essential shampoo and body products, complimentary mint tea on arrival, complimentary bottle of water in room, daily turn down service, in room safe, and hair dryer.
This retreat will take place at the Tigmi Boutique Hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco. Tigimi is tucked away from the hubbub of Marrakech on the outskirts of a traditional Moroccan Berber village. The red city, as Marrakech is known, is also near from Tigmi.
The joy of the Marrakech region lies in its diversity, where you will revel in the colorful rush of the city souks, be inspired by the breathtaking views of the Atlas Mountains, and moved by the gentle and warm hospitality of the Berber people.
The Marrakech region is an area influenced by east and west, by Africa and Europe. Marrakech is two pulsating cities in one, where modern culture sits just the other side of 11th-century walls. And all this endearing commotion is surrounded by quiet Berber villages.
During this retreat, the schedule can be flexible and adjusted according to students needs and requests.
You may book your flight to arrive at Marrakech-Menara Airport (RAK).
You may take a taxi from Marrakech-Menara Airport (RAK) to Tigmi for approximately 250 DH.
Moroccan cities can get uncomfortably hot during the summer months, but the higher altitude and space afforded by Tigmi’s location make for a much more comfortable heat. Expect around 12 to 13 hours of sunshine during the summer months, with average daytime temperatures of around 35 degrees Celsius from June through August.
The nights average around 20 degrees Celsius. The winter brings understandably cooler temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius during the day, dropping to single figures during the evening.
The complimentary Tigmi shuttle bus travels to and from Marrakech three times a day for guests who wish to explore the city.
The currency of Morocco is the Moroccan Dirham (DH). The Moroccan economy is fairly stable, but shopping around for the best rate is still recommended.

Bharti Mengarelli has practiced yoga since 2000. She started with Hatha yoga and then in 2004 started practicing Ashtanga yoga with teacher Christos Christophy in London, who continuously inspired her and was able to transmit his passion for yoga as a spiritual practice. Bharti also studied with Eileen Gaultier and Lino Miele and she took courses with internationally known teachers such as Surinder Singh, David Swenson, John Scott, and Matthew Sweeney amongst other international teachers.
She immediately knew yoga would be a long term friend and a source of self-discovering and development. After living in London for several years and working in the corporate world, she felt naturally drawn to yoga as a lifestyle and decided to teach and help people through healing. She trained as a Yoga Alliance certified teacher in India, where she also lived in an ashram for a few winters and where she was able to really deepen her practice, not only with asanas but also studying the scriptures and hoe to live every aspect of Yoga.
Since 2010, she spends several months in India every year, where she teaches English to orphans as a volunteer and continues to deepen her practice through daily asanas, pranayama, and meditation. In 2012, she was also initiated into Reiki in the Usui Tibetan tradition by Rebecca Lemaire, practices that she now incorporates into her daily practice, as well as giving Reiki treatments to others.
Her approach to yoga and Reiki is very holistic and therapeutic, she sees them as tools to improve one's outlook on life and speed up the process of purification towards a clear heart and mind. Bharti currently teaches in London during the winter and one week intensive retreats in Italy and Crete during the summer.
She has also taught in events such as EcoCamp; a music and holistic festival in central Italy, and at Tushita Meditation Centre in Dharamsala, India. Bharti's teachings are focused on Hatha yoga followed by pranayama and meditation.
She also promotes Kirtan, which helps open the heart and reconnect to one’s self as well as self-massage and relaxation exercises. During her retreats, she also includes practices such as Trataka, Eyes yoga, Water yoga, and Osho's Nadabrahma meditation.
During this retreat, you will be served three daily delicious mostly vegetarian meals per day. You may also enjoy other meal services at Tigmi for an additional cost. Mint tea is particularly popular in Morocco, so make some time to enjoy a cup on the terraces or beside the pool. Over a million people live in Marrakech and Djemaa-el-Fna, the main square, is always alive with acrobats, snake charmers, dancers, and musicians. You may buy a water to quench your thirst or an ancient Berber potion to improve your relationship or if shopping is your thing, then you may go north into the souks, where a labyrinth of covered market streets is teeming with lively sellers and lost shoppers. Bartering on price over a mint tea is not uncommon.
And if you get good at the haggle, you may grab a bargain on shoes, bags, lamps, rugs, silk, cotton, pottery, and plates. If you prefer your prices fixed and your shopping a little more boutique, then leave the charms of the old city for the new town, where you will find casinos, art galleries, and plenty of places to enjoy dinner and drinks. Alternatively, you may head back to the main square after sunset as many food stalls open, turning Djemaa el-Fna it into a massive open-air restaurant.
The Atlas Mountains offer walkers and hikers of all levels the opportunity to see the Morocco’s countryside at is wildest. Tours can be arranged by the Tigmi team for half- and full-day trips. "Bharti is such an inspiration. I learned so much from her, for my practice as well as my life. The venue was perfect, right by the sea with great food. We got to do yoga overlooking the Mediterranean and the mountains. The meditation classes were really life-changing, thanks to Bhartis experiences in India. I would recommend going on a retreat with her without any hesitation."

"Excellent retreat especially the meditation and chanting. The yoga level was perfect. Loved practicing in nature and the flexibility of the teacher to adapt to needs and different levels of students was great. The yoga was gentle and not forceful so I benefited greatly. The teacher was great at helping us experiment with meditation and chanting!"

"The retreat allowed me to reconnect with what I love. I left feeling grounded and peaceful and nourished. I appreciated Valentina's down to earth approach and found her encouragement and attention to detail during the classes helped me progress and I was so happy to feel my body getting stronger and more supple as the week went on. The perfect balance of yoga, meditation and Reiki sessions combined with free time to read, swim, walk or rest. I finished the retreat stronger both physically and mentally."
