Bamboo Yoga Retreat has their very own bamboo beach bungalows on Patnem beach, designed to blend beautifully with the breathtaking natural surroundings. Built on the fine white sand every season after the monsoon rains, using local organic materials, the bungalow style beach huts are simply stylish, comfortable, private, and eco-friendly.
Located directly behind the ocean shala and beachfront lounge, and just steps from Patnem beach, the boutique bungalows are designed to help you reconnect with nature. Whether watching the eagles soar overhead from the hammock on your balcony or falling asleep to the sound of the waves, the normal stresses of life melt away and you will feel open to a more profound yoga practice.
Each bungalow beach hut at Bamboo Yoga Retreat Goa has one double or two single beds with comfortable European style mattresses, good linens and mosquito netting, set in a spacious airy room with plenty of room to hang your clothes, and store your belongings. Constructed to make use of the natural ventilation from the cooling sea breeze, they also have ceiling fans for more tropical times of the year. Attached bathrooms with western style toilets are open to the sky for the magical experience of showering under the stars.
All of the bungalows have beautiful natural panoramas and views overlooking Patnem beach. You can choose between a beachfront sunset bungalow, an ocean mountain bungalow, or an ocean temple bungalow, which is much quiet at night with its peaceful garden setting. You can book a private room or share with a friend. Teachers will match yogis for room sharing on retreats.
Regular housekeeping is available. Fresh linens are also on request, although they ask guests to bring their own towels for the beach. The bungalows can be locked when you go out, and free Wi-Fi is available in the lounge area. Because in Bamboo Yoga Retreat, you will feel safe, relaxed, and in harmony with nature to get the most out of your yoga holiday or yoga retreat in Goa.
Goa is the smallest state in India yet it boasts some of the best beaches in Asia. However, it’s not just sand, sea, and sunsets, Goa’s mix of Indian and Portuguese heritage means you will find white churches poking out from the coconut palms alongside Hindu temples.
Patnem beach is a very safe place for guests to arrive alone and go out at night. Whilst some of north Goa has suffered from over-development, the far south is still unspoiled, with its lush mountain range, beautiful backwaters, and long golden beaches. It is against this peaceful tropical backdrop in Goa that Bamboo runs its yoga holidays and retreats.
Patnem high street has a useful mix of internet cafes, money exchange and travel agents, and shops selling clothing and souvenirs alongside everyday essential such as toiletries.
While the social life in Patnem mostly consists of some sunset cocktails at one of the beach shacks, with occasional live music nights, there are regular headphone parties in Palolem, and a weekly night with international disc jockeys at Leopard Valley, an incredible outdoor club in the jungle on the way to Agonda beach.
You will find this yoga resort at the far southern end of Patnem beach, in the Canacona state of south Goa. Bamboo Yoga Retreats is close to acclaimed Agonda beach and one beach down from famous Palolem, with its wide selection of souvenir stalls, restaurants, and nightlife.
Life is truly wonderful, especially with this retreat package offered just for you. You will be staying for 10 nights at Bamboo retreats located on the lovely Patnem beach. Being close to nature, you will be more peaceful with the relaxing classes to be done. With the aid of yoga, mantra, meditation, and pranayama, you will gently stimulate your Shakti energy, bringing you closer to your authentic self.
Please book your flight to arrive at Goa International Airport (GOI). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Yoga with Abbey will pick you up from the airport.
Canacona has a train station just 10 minutes away from Patnem by rickshaw, although many faster trains only call at Margao (Madgaon) station, an hour’s drive away. India’s trains are an economical and exciting way of covering longer distances if you plan on extending your holiday with a visit to Kerala or are ending a hectic north India trip with some relaxing and rejuvenating yoga.
Buses navigate India’s rather bumpy roads to Goa from all the major cities, such as Mumbai, Bombay, and Bangalore, as well as via popular tourist destinations including Hampi and Gokarna. Chaudi has a bus station, although you may need to get a local bus here from Margao. Make sure you get a sleeper bus for overnight journeys.

Bamboo Yoga Retreat's food, like every part of the Goa yoga retreat center, is all about flexibility and balance. It is wholesome and nutritious, cooked with love, and without compromising on flavor. Here, it focuses on healthy locally sourced food, organic wherever possible, and international cooking by the team of highly trained passionate chefs.
To start your day, the team will prepare a freshly squeezed juice of the day, which could be watermelon and ginger, or pineapple lemon and mint, to cleanse your body and give you an energy boost for your sun salutations. There is also a big fresh tropical fruit salad every morning.
A big brunch is served after the morning yoga session - homemade yogurt, local Goa breads, eggs and muesli, with some Indian inspired vegetable dishes, and salads for those who’ve built up an appetite with their exertions. Then time to relax and watch the waves from the beach side lounge with a herbal tea or Indian chai.
For dinner, menu changes daily. Delicious Indian and Asian vegetarian dishes, salads, fresh sustainable fish, and seafood are possible to order on the day. Dinner can be ordered a la carte, or a big buffet in the restaurant.
Yoga retreats in Goa are full-board so that the menu can work with your program, whether supporting weight loss, detoxing the body, or focusing on raw food. They offer refillable mineral water to eliminate plastic bottle waste, and use filtered water in the kitchen. The team is made up of Nepalese chefs and Heidi who is a nutritional adviser so expect that the food is delicious because they are known for this.
India has a rich history of holistic approach to wellness, with ancient Ayurvedic practices designed to provide both physical and mental balance. Translating literally as science of life, this five-thousand year old system of health care aims to bring harmony within yourself and with nature.
Goa spa treatments are guided by the Ayurvedic ethos of well-being within and without, and will complement your yoga practice. Bamboo Yoga Retreat offers an extensive menu of healing therapies from a beautiful massage hut just meters from Patnem beach.
If you have a day off the mat or have some time after your yoga retreat in Patnem beach, there are lots of wonderful places to visit in Goa. From boat trips to spot dolphins, and kayaking to secret coves, to exploring the coastline by scooter. Drive through picturesque fishing villages to the turtle-nesting beach of Galjibag, or seek out the freshwater lagoon at Cola beach and the spectacular sea views from Cabo de Rama Fort.
Nature lovers will enjoy Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary, one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots just a few kilometers south of Patnem. Whether or not you catch a glimpse of an elusive leopard or a troop of monkeys, the mountainous jungle scenery is spectacular.
If you are an architecture buff, take a trip to the colonial Latin quarter in Panjim, Goa’s new capital, and to Old Goa, the historic city of the Portuguese eastern empire. The Lunch Club by Koko India offers a unique cultural experience beyond the beach, with a private tour of one of Goa’s grand mansions, and an authentic Indo-Portuguese lunch in a restored Palacio.
Shoppers and souvenir seekers will love the weekly flea and night markets in north Goa, where you can find everything from silk scarves and silver jewelry to sandals, sarongs, and spices. Remember to haggle too for it is part of the experience.
