Experience and learn how to safely teach beginner Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Hatha, and Sivananda style yoga postures and philosophy in the intimate Yoga with a view school. Class size is strictly limited to less than 10 students, often 8 students in one training. Uniquely you are offered time with the yogi horse herd to help you experience true Yoga or union. The course includes karma service to learn more about the Costa Rican culture and it relies heavily on direct experience to help the students understand and convey the theory sustaining Yoga philosophy and ethics.
During this yoga teacher training, you will stay in brand new apartments with two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, and a third bathroom is also available. All bedrooms are double sharing with individual beds and new linens. Once a week maid service for the rooms and laundry service for the linens and personal clothing is offered. The gardens have several tranquil corners for the students to practice and enjoy their meditations and down by the river, inside green gardens, and in open areas with full views of the valley that will also provide contemplative vistas for the students to enjoy their yoga practices. The yoga studio has a wooden floor and windows to the mountains and gardens. All mats, yoga blocks, yoga belts, and cushions for the students are also provided.
During this yoga teacher training, the students will have the opportunity to begin with courses the second day of the training and continue throughout culminating in each student leading at least two full yoga asana classes and meditation sessions. Meditation and self-realization are the goals and the process of a yoga practice, and this course reflects this goals by devoting lots of lecture and practicum time to various meditation techniques and mantra chanting sessions.
This training also offers the opportunity to take yoga sessions with horses. Horses are wonderfully intuitive creatures and will help the students to realize their own commitment to self-awareness through their ethical interactions with horses as a path to understand and live a socially and spiritually responsible life. The students will also be able to express karma yoga with the local Costa Rican community working with the local schools, community centers, indigenous communities, and wildlife refuges. One day off a week will be offered to explore local sites. Classes are held six days a week with one day off.
The 2017 March YTT is held during the week long "Dia de Boyero" celebration in Escazu and the students will have time to explore and enjoy all the festivities. This festival is unique in Costa Rica as the community of Escazu has kept alive the Costa Rican cultural tradition of the ox-cart and this tradition is celebrated all week long with traditional music and activities, folkloric dance, and wonderful local cuisine. The week is culminated with the famous parade of the on-carts.
This yoga teacher training will be held at a yoga studio in the hills of Escazu, San Antonio, overlooking San Jose and the whole central valley of Costa Rica. The yoga studio is located in the small town of Escazu, south of Restaurant Tiquicia and near Calle Dos Cercas to the east. San Antonio de Escazu is known by the indigenous as Itakazu" or the resting rock. It is here in the hills behind the yoga studio that shamans from both coasts of Costa Rica meet to share news and ideas. The studio is surrounded by rural agriculture and pasture lands where you may be able to see and hear the famous wooden ox-carts of Costa Rica on the local roads, the Costa Rican green frog, plenty of song birds and predatory birds, green parrots, oropendulems, blue mot mots, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, and others birds living on the grounds.

During this retreat, you will be served three vegetarian meals a day except for the days off when only breakfast will be served.
Activities around the studio include tours with transportation to the volcano Poas National Park and La Paz Waterfall Garden, Guayabo National Monument, River safari, a local woodworking workshop, and supplemental packages for beach stays that includes opportunities to be a guest yoga teacher at various beach hotels and resorts are also offered.
During this retreat, you will also enjoy one session with a local reflexologist.
