Our Byron Bay Yoga Retreat offers a unique weeklong program and a daily schedule based upon the ancient teachings of yoga as a life-style, taught in a traditional and pure way. On each retreat, participants and teachers embark on a powerful and transformative journey that allows them to relax, learn about themselves, overcome many physical, mental, and emotional obstacles and feel renewed, recharged and inspired; taking new knowledge and practical yoga tips to apply to their daily life.

Sivananda yoga retreat in Australia

The yoga is based on the classical teachings by Swami Sivananda and The 5 Points of Yoga of Swami Vishnudevananda; taught in the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashrams around the world for over 50 years. Every day there will be 2 meditations, 2 yoga classes, kirtan, mantra chanting, practical workshops in all aspects of yoga, yoga philosophy, meditative nature walks, and delicious vegetarian meals based on Ayurvedic principles in a positive environment.

    "Loved the New Year's yoga retreat! No better way to spend New Year's than being at this retreat. The program was well-structured, yet relaxed, fun and definitely an eye opening experience for me. Particularly enjoyed the Kirtans, loved the Bansuri, loved the delicious yogic food, loved the group's energy. Madhava and Shyamala, you're both such experienced Sivananda Teachers I wish I live in Byron so I could take regular classes at White lotus. Nevertheless, I have experienced a wonderful and inspiring spectrum of yogic lifestyle which I intend to bring in to my daily life.     "I had the great pleasure of participating in the Prenatal Yoga classes at Yoga White Lotus. I had done a little yoga on and off in the past but had never been a committed Yogi. Regular yoga during pregnancy has helped me immensely; both to gain strength and flexibility in my body but also to find a centred, peaceful and relaxed place in my mind to treasure during this special time of life. The yoga taught by Shyamala and Madhava also links beautifully with the antenatal teachings of Calmbirth. Yoga White Lotus has been the perfect place to be (re-)introduced to the benefits of yoga. I hope to continue my practice after baby arrives!"

    "I recently completed the one week retreat at sacred Mt. Warning, what a spectacular place! Madhava and Shymala bring a wealth of experience, knowledge and most importantly compassion and love to their practice and were always there for guidance and support. I really enjoyed hearing and learning about the true meaning of Yoga and understanding more deeply the spiritual path, this was a big part of the retreat and really grounds you on, why you are doing the physical part of yoga and how it is all connected to the ultimate goal of conciousness and the divine. I would recommend the Retreat to anyone who wants to understand Yoga on a deeper level or enhance their current practice of Yoga. Thank You once again Madhava and Shymala :) "
