This catalogued, modernistic building (from Gaudis movement) was built in 1890. The building and the space have conserved all its magical features and a smart distribution of the rooms allowing all of them to have access to outdoor spaces, such as internal patios or balconies. You have options for shared twin accommodation, double bedroom, or private room with a single supplement.

The Yoga shala and roof deck

The house has an airy yoga space with a chimney and a long wall to practice. Yoga Weeks Barcelona kept some of the beautiful old features adding a modernistic touch. A constant merge of old and new, keeping the best of the past yet always moving forward.

The afternoon classes from May onward will take place in the rooftop terrace of the building. A unique space to practice whilst enjoying a great view and the sunset overlooking the city.

The gallery and patio

A beautiful gallery next to it brings the natural light to enjoy the practice. The brunch / breakfast is served after the class in the gallery, where you will have a big breakfast table and sitting area. There is also a beautiful and private outdoor patio with hammocks and showers where you can relax, sunbathe and enjoy a chat.

These spaces will become your relaxing areas during the day, where you can hang out, relax, keep practicing with your yoga trapeze and mats, socialize or enjoy one of the additional treatments.

Kitchen

You will also have access to a fully equipped kitchen and your own storage space if you would like to use it. But please note that Yoga Weeks Barcelona allows strictly vegetarian food to be kept in the house. They want to respect their values and those of all guests. There are however many cafes and restaurants a few steps away may you wish to have non vegetarian meals.

The communal areas and all bedrooms will be cleaned every day in the morning to ensure you feel as comfortable as possible. Yoga Weeks Barcelona asks you to remain mindful of your fellow guests and respect the kitchen and all communal areas through the day.

Every day, you will have 2 hours daily morning yoga, private for the retreat guests where you will be able to follow the Yoga retreat program with a dedicated teacher for you.

In the evenings (only from March to October) you will also be able to join the 1 hour daily sunset class on the roof top terrace, overlooking the city. Yoga Weeks Barcelona has carefully chosen a team of qualified and established international teachers. Classes will be taught in English, and styles will vary from dynamic Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Rocket, Vin Yoga, Hatha and Shakti Dance. In addition to your daily retreat practice you will be the opportunity to try many different Yoga Styles and Lifestyle workshops such us: vegan cooking, voice workshops, Acroyoga and many others depending on your chosen week.

Daily classes will be followed by a vegetarian brunch cooked by our nutritionist, and then free time. Options are to explore the city, enjoy the beach or just relax and be. The organizer will be offering extra optional activities such as Barcelona tours, away days, paddle boarding, cycling, massages, alternative therapies, and much more within the city and surroundings.

  • Ana Puig

Ana started her holistic journey after moving back to Barcelona and working in a very fast paced environment, with long hours and stress involved. Yoga became then part of her life, to find a better balance. After many years of practicing yoga she decided to leave the corporate world for a different, more fulfilling work and life.

  • Virginia Alvarez

It was 15 years ago when the road and the passion towards the practice of Yoga started. In Uruguay (where I am from) I took a course of Raja Yoga Instructor and in 2006 I decided to move to Barcelona. In 2012 I went to India to further deepen my teaching skills. I enrolled the Hatha Yoga Training School, Patanjali International Yoga Foundation with Hatha Yoga master, Jitendra Das in Rishikesh. In 2014 I decided to certify in Shakti Dance with Sara Avtar. Currently I offer classes in both disciplines, Hatha Vinyasa and Shakti Dance.

  • Jeni Air

Jeni has always been a lover of sports and movement and constantly involved in various physical activities. Getting involved with Yoga gave her the space to slow down to learn and observe her body; keeping her motivated, healthy and balanced. In 2013, with nearly ten years of teaching experience behind her, She felt that it was time for a change. Teaching allows her to share her love for yoga with other people and enable them to find a healthier and peaceful self. She is also certified in Aerial Yoga.

Arrival by plane

All main worldwide airlines including low cost fly to Barcelona. The closest airport is Barcelona-El Prat, the main airport of the city.

The main low cost airlines such as EasyJet or Ryanair fly to Terminal 2 (old terminal) and the rest including Spanish low cost airline Vueling to Terminal 1 (new terminal). All rest of non-low cost main international airlines do fly directly to Barcelona and will land in Terminal 1. Both terminals are less than 15 kilometers away from the retreat center and have 24-hour transport links to the city.

Yoga Weeks Barcelona encourages you to fly in and out on their normal working hours (every day from 09:00 to 21:00), which will help them give you the best welcome possible.

There are also 2 nearby low cost airports at the cities of Girona. They are over 100 kilometers away, and have specific bus only transport services. Taxis are available but will be highly priced. If you have the time, it is a possibility, but please budget in the bus transfer and the time to take to Barcelona Bus Station (2 hours approximately).

From Barcelona Airport, you can choose one of the following options to get to the retreat center:

  • By aerobus

This is a great option to reach Yoga Weeks. The airbus is a daily service between Plaa de Catalunya and Barcelona Airport. It has a frequency of every 10 minutes and runs from both terminals. Approximate journey time is 35 minutes. Last and main stop is Plaa Catalunya, which is about 5 minutes walk to Yoga Weeks. Once in the Plaa, walk down the famous street of Las Ramblas and turn right after 5 minutes in to Carme Street. Find number 40, and Yoga Weeks is there.

To return to the airport, you can take the bus from the same stop as on arrival. Please check the bus is taking you to the right terminal at the top of the vehicle.

  • By taxi

There is a 24-hour taxi line at each exit in both terminals. Taxis in Barcelona are yellow and black. Yoga Weeks recommends that you to use licensed ones for city sustainability. Rates are affordable and distances reasonable within Barcelona. A taxi from the Airport to Yoga Weeks should cost between 30 - 40 EUR depending on terminal and traffic.

  • By train

Daily connections with Barcelona Airport from Sants Station. Frequency is every 30 minutes. Journey time is about 18 minutes.

Arrival by train

Sants Train Station has connection with all main urban metro lines. To arrive at Yoga Weeks, buy a single or 10 pass metro ticket. Catch the L3 green metro line towards Canyelles, and stop at Liceu. From there, it is only 2 minutes walk. Head up to Las Ramblas and turn left into Carme Street until you find the number 40.

Arriving by bus

When arriving by bus at the Barcelona Estacio del Nord, head towards the metro entrance and buy a single or 10 pass metro ticket. Catch the L1 red line towards Hospital de Bellvitge. Stop at Plaa Catalunya.

Driving directions from Barcelona Airport

The C-31 Barcelona - Castelldefels road links Barcelona Airport with Yoga Weeks. Please follow the signs for the Ronda Litoral ring road that will connect you to city center. Whilst there, follow directions to Yoga Weeks address. The estimated journey time from Barcelona city center to the airport is about 20 minutes.

Parking on the streets of Barcelona is not a great option, as hourly charges and time limitations apply. You will find a secured public parking (BSM) in front of Yoga Weeks. Yoga Weeks recommends this option on a weekly tariff.

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 25% of the total price.
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 28 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 14 days before arrival.

Review by Candice Lhomme from France

CONS Cons: The brunch is not really a brunch just a lunch. We did the class a bit earlier than usual given to the temperature (8h - 10h) so it was too early for me to eat veggies and quinoa at that time. I would have appreciated pastries / or more breakfast related food. The cleaning of the bathrooms and the rooms could also be improved but overall it was satisfying.

PROS Pros: Great location (center of Barcelona) and great facilities with the rooftop. All the teachers were amazing.

CONS Cons: I would be nice to pratice on cleaner mats. And the towels were not so nice. I also expected a better brunch (I told you, before I went, that I'm allergic to some food).. But the last two days were better ☺️

PROS Pros: I really liked that we had different teachers. And I loved the hostel and everybody who was there. It was such a nice place and it was wonderful to have the classes on the roof top!

    Urban Yoga Retreat

CONS Cons: It was really difficult to feel like I was making progress with my yoga with three different teachers throughout the week. The main teacher seemed disengaged and didn't focus on what we wanted to work on. The classes were just 2hr classes in the morning with minimal focus. It would have been a lot better if they were workshop focused. Sleep was very difficult to get as the rooms were super hot, the fan didn't help much and the building was extremely noisy at night. The beds were average and there were cockroaches in one of the bathrooms which was unpleasant. The food was nice, but for what I paid, I would have expected they could provide far more variety and far more food throughout the day. So often there were lots of random people in the house, some cleaning, some maintenance, who knows who else. It didn't feel like a calm space at time. Any housekeeping should have happened whist the yoga classes were going so you could come back and it was done. There was also nowhere to wash clothes. When doing yoga for 3 hours a day in the humid Barcelona heat for a week, needless to say I ran out of clean yoga clothes which was really not pleasant.

PROS Pros: The location of Yoga Weeks is excellent for doing tourist activities in Barcelona. But, it is extremely noisy! The group of fellow travellers I was with were really good and we had a great time together. The teachers who took the evening classes on the rooftop were the best teachers and I learnt the most from them.

Organizer response: We are glad you liked some parts of the retreat. In regards the disappointment parts, we are very sad you felt that way,if you would have only said whilst here. Let me explain: Laundry - We do have a washing machine and products to all guests disposal. Rooms - We do have additional cooling fans as well replace ones, if the one in your room did not work. Cleaning staff - We work with 2 amazing ladies that not only are discreet and trustworthy, also do a great job everyday. I am not sure how can they be disruptive, however if in any shape of form they were then, then simply you could have just said to us or to them politely, of course. They come during most quite times when generally guests are discovering Barcelona. Yoga - As per our profile, we are different teachers the ones that lead the retreat classes ( morning ) and the ones that teach the sunset classes as they are open to Barcelona . The classes in the morning are the ones focused to te retreat group. Its is part of what we do to make sure we have one to one conversations with each of you to ensure the practice is what you want over the 5 days. If you would only have said, to any of us, we would have been very happy to readdress. We do ask everyday and all feedback with practices was great. Cleaning - We absolutely clean everyday without a fail the full space and bathrooms more than once as used often. We do not have cockroaches at YW in any shape of form. I am sorry if you somehow found one. Apologies if so.

CONS Cons: It would have been nice if we could have spent some time in the rooftop also outside the yoga classes. The rooftop was a bit dusty to do yoga and the floor there was going a bit up-and-down, but it was ok.

PROS Pros: People was very nice and the location very good. Food was also nice. Rooftop was nice with the evening sun.

    Perfect

CONS Cons: I really didn't like the rooftop yoga classes mainly coz it was so hot during the morning and in the evening. The sun is directly in your face and you feel like you're going to pass out after a few mins. Teachers were great but maybe they need to have more shade for the roof.

PROS Pros: Liked the rooms, facilities and the location of YogaWeeks. The food was good and the hosts was very accomodating. Made good friends during the short stay and would definitely recommend anyone else to try.

An urban retreat in the heart of Barcelona

CONS Cons: I thought the brunch would be much bigger and diverse than it was in reality. But it tasted good. And I thought it would be like a hostel / b&b but it is more like having your own apartment which you share with the other students. And I loved it, but it was different from what I expected. And for the classes: It would be nice if there were like 1 or 2 teachers instead of 4, because it helps deepen your practice more.

PROS Pros: The location of Yoga Weeks is perfect, in the center of Barcelona. The classes were mostly on the rooftop, which has an amazing view.

    Lovely Ibiza yoga retreat

PROS Pros: A perfect relaxing getaway, on the northern end of Ibiza. Ana is an extraordinary host who truly enjoys making sure all enjoy their stay; arranging sailing, trips to the beach, etc. The food is fresh and tasty. The accommodation is comfortable with plenty of room to hang by the pool or head for shade or lounge on comfy couches checking email. Yoga flow twice a day accommodated to the various levels of experience and included breathing and theory. My thanks to Ana and Virginia.

"I booked two back-to-back yoga retreats with Yoga Weeks--first in Barcelona and then in Ibiza. The experience was amazing and more than I could have hoped for. Ana is the most incredible, kind, accomodating host. She made sure I had everything that I needed always. The accomodations in Barcelona AND Ibiza are even better than the photos! Clean, beautiful, light spaces. It's hard to even put into words the experience I had with Yoga Weeks in these two amazing cities, but if you're reading this and are on the fence about booking a retreat with Yoga Weeks, rest assured that it will be an incredible experience and go for it. The food was amazing, the people were so kind and wonderful, and my yoga improved SO much in the two weeks that I was in Barcelona and Ibiza. Yoga Weeks is an incredible way to experience a new place while staying centered, eating great food, and meeting wonderful people. Could not recommend more!!"

A very different and cool way to see and experience what the city has to offer. Teachers are lovely and friendly and I would definitely return. As a side point- I booked this from the UK, and had email interactions with the company regarding payment, language etc - the team were friendly, welcoming and engaging even over email! "This Barcelona retreat was amazing. The house is beautifully located right in the heart of the city and holds a lot of charm. The teachers are really warm and tailor the classes meeting the individual needs of the group. We had a pregnant student in our yoga group but that wasn't a issue with working on yoga together. I do know that if need be the teachers can do two groups of yoga to meet the requirement of the group. The yoga itself felt powerful and working on your body whilst on the rooftop was perfect, both for the views and for peaceful meditation. On the last day we had a student with a birthday so they surprised her with vegan chocolate cake and a special brunch. There was so much food!! The brunches are amazing. My recommendation is to take ear plugs, Barcelona is a social city and to bring a sense if wonder, you will have a blast in this vibrant city! I really did love my time at the urban yoga retreat and can't thank the teachers enough."

"I had a wonderful stay with Leslie, Anna and the team at Yoga Weeks and I come away from it feeling enriched and refreshed, with a fresh perspective and a lovely new group of friends. The building itself is a great way to experience the city - bang slap in the middle of buzzing Barcelona, yet quiet and peaceful, with a roof terrace escape where we saluted sun's and moons and felt all the peace of a desert island. Leslie was great. Her combo of yoga, energy healing and life-coaching, she rebooted each and every one if the group. What I especially liked in her approach was the way she helped us to own our own progress, getting just the right balance between guiding and uniting us as a group and letting us explore our own individual needs."

We had 2 teachers and both were amazing, attentive with a lot of individual care and correction to each of us. The Yoga center is clean, staff very friendly and know a lot about Yoga and the city. The location is great as it is so central, easy to walk anywhere and yet it is a quiet spot. And only a 15-minute walk away from the beach, Barceloneta. I will be back again"

"I would highly recommend Yoga Weeks for anyone wanting to combine a yoga retreat with a city holiday. The apartment is spacious, beautiful and most importantly in my opinion based in the heart of the city - some of the best shops and restaurants are within five minutes. During my visit I was fortunate to have most classes on the rooftop terrace, which has great views of the city. I especially loved the buffet brunches after the morning classes with a variation of vegetarian food. Ana and Arlette are also lovely and warm hosts, I enjoyed my interactions mostly at brunch, they also openly helped us with any queries. Arlette is also a great yoga teacher, I managed to learn a great deal on improving my alignment and posture with her morning classes."

The studio or accommodation is in the heart of the Old Quarter, with shops, restaurants, bars, markets, theatres and attractions right outside the door. Inside you climb the stairs of the grand old building and settle into the relaxed and elegant apartment where you can use the kitchen, hang out around the dining room table or read on the back terrace. The yoga instruction was professional; Arlette is knowledgeable and passionate about yoga. The rooftop studio was a great place to start and end the day, watching the sun rise or fall as we moved through our poses. The brunch with the group was full of laughter followed by all the free time we wanted to explore the city. Great value for money."

"I spent a week at their urban retreat. I had yoga in the morning, followed by an awesome brunch, and in the evening. I spent the days exploring Barcelona, lying in the hammock, or hanging out with my new friends at the retreat. Great location, nice and clean studio and the view from the rooftop. Wow!"

"I had a fantastic week. Arlette and Anna run a wonderful retreat full of caring and love. I felt at home. Anna cooking was amazing, healthy and delicious. Arlette yoga classes were great, she even gave me tips on how to do the poses right. I enjoy every single minute in the retreat for me. Yoga Weeks Barcelona one of the best retreats around. I will do it again!"

"We had the best week ever! The boat was good enough, but the places we visit and the yoga practices were great. We really bonded as a group and had a constant laugh."

"I really recommended it, you totally forget about anything happening in the land and enjoy the restaurants, the beaches and the atmosphere of the boats in the islands."

"I had a wonderful time at yoga weeks, as a beginner, Carlota our teacher was incredibly patient and encouraging. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and centrally located, staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious too! I would highly recommend Yoga Weeks to anyone looking to enjoy a week in Barcelona, with some (or lots) of yoga on the side."

"I would highly recommend Yoga Weeks for anyone wanting to combine a yoga retreat with a city holiday. The apartment is spacious, beautiful, and most importantly in my opinion based in the heart of the city - some of the best shops and restaurants are within five minutes.

"Arlette and Anna run a wonderful retreat. Their yoga teaching, hospitality and cooking are superb. The rooftop, where the yoga classes take place, is an oasis of calm, overlooking the whole of Barcelona. "

"If you want to work on your body morning and evening, enjoy a sumptuous vegan brunch with nutritious smoothies and then have the rest of the time free to explore this city, this is the break for you."

"The yoga centre is in the heart of Barcelona, a couple of minutes walk from La Ramblas and across the road from Boqueria market so everything is on the doorstep. Bliss! I will be back."

"It was unique to be able to sail for 1 week in the beautiful beaches of Ibiza and Formentera. They really are paradises. The yoga practices in the beach were great, don’t expect full yoga workout but more of a conscious practice with natural elements of the space. Breath-taking sunsets. Life in a boat it is also very different and you end up creating a great group, and I think friends for a long time. Captain, Virginia and Ana were great running the retreat. "

"What an amazing retreat! I loved every single moment sailing, enjoying the nature, and stunning places we were privileged to stay and sleep at. The yoga and the meditation sessions on the beach where also magic. A moment to gather with the group. Anyone looking for an amazing and relaxing holiday and a great social experience need to look no further. Magic. "
