This catalogued, modernistic building (from Gaudis movement) was built in 1890. The building and the space have conserved all its magical features and a smart distribution of the rooms allowing all of them to have access to outdoor spaces, such as internal patios or balconies. You have options for shared twin accommodation, double bedroom, or private room with a single supplement.

The Yoga shala and roof deck

The house has an airy yoga space with a chimney and a long wall to practice. Yoga Weeks Barcelona kept some of the beautiful old features adding a modernistic touch. A constant merge of old and new, keeping the best of the past yet always moving forward.

The afternoon classes from May onward will take place in the rooftop terrace of the building. A unique space to practice whilst enjoying a great view and the sunset overlooking the city.

The gallery and patio

A beautiful gallery next to it brings the natural light to enjoy the practice. The brunch / breakfast is served after the class in the gallery, where you will have a big breakfast table and sitting area. There is also a beautiful and private outdoor patio with hammocks and showers where you can relax, sunbathe and enjoy a chat.

These spaces will become your relaxing areas during the day, where you can hang out, relax, keep practicing with your yoga trapeze and mats, socialize or enjoy one of the additional treatments.

Kitchen

You will also have access to a fully equipped kitchen and your own storage space if you would like to use it. But please note that Yoga Weeks Barcelona allows strictly vegetarian food to be kept in the house. They want to respect their values and those of all guests. There are however many cafes and restaurants a few steps away may you wish to have non vegetarian meals.

The communal areas and all bedrooms will be cleaned every day in the morning to ensure you feel as comfortable as possible. Yoga Weeks Barcelona asks you to remain mindful of your fellow guests and respect the kitchen and all communal areas through the day.

Every day, you will have 2 hours daily morning yoga, private for the retreat guests where you will be able to follow the Yoga retreat program with a dedicated teacher for you.

In the evenings (only from March to October) you will also be able to join the 1 hour daily sunset class on the roof top terrace, overlooking the city. Yoga Weeks Barcelona has carefully chosen a team of qualified and established international teachers. Classes will be taught in English, and styles will vary from dynamic Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Rocket, Vin Yoga, Hatha and Shakti Dance. In addition to your daily retreat practice you will be the opportunity to try many different Yoga Styles and Lifestyle workshops such us: vegan cooking, voice workshops, Acroyoga and many others depending on your chosen week.

Daily classes will be followed by a vegetarian brunch cooked by our nutritionist, and then free time. Options are to explore the city, enjoy the beach or just relax and be. The organizer will be offering extra optional activities such as Barcelona tours, away days, paddle boarding, cycling, massages, alternative therapies, and much more within the city and surroundings.

She has been teaching for seven years in London, France, and Ibiza for groups and private tuitions in spa and wellness centers as well as many retreats. She teaches Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga, which are traditionally more dynamic type of yoga. She keeps a flexible structure, leaving space for individual need, and for an exploratory aspect to teaching.

  • Virginia lvarez

Virginia was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and it was 15 years ago when the road and the passion towards the practice of yoga started. Whilst still in Uruguay, she took a course of Raja yoga instructor and in 2006, she decided to change her residence to Barcelona. Dance has always been an inspiration in Virginia's life, venturing from her early youth in the practice of contemporary, African, Salsa, and Arabic dance among others. In 2014, Virginia decided to certify in Shakti dance with Sara Avtar from England. Currently she offers classes in both disciplines, Hatha Vinyasa and Shakti dance.

The Barcelona Yoga Weeks retreat center was built in a big and beautiful modernistic house in the heart of Barcelona. The center is located in a nice and quiet street, yet minutes walk away from the central gothic neighborhood and a 10 minute walk away to the beach of Barcelona.

The center is located behind La Boqueria Market, main and one of the oldest local food markets in the city. An amazing place to walk and explore local food in a great buzzy market. The center is also located between the popular street of Las Ramblas, one of the most beautiful promenades of the city and minutes walk from the seafront and the beach. Also the old Gothic Cathedral and neighborhood are steps away.

Arrival by plane

All main worldwide airlines including low cost fly to Barcelona. The closest airport is Barcelona-El Prat, the main airport of the city.

The main low cost airlines such as EasyJet or Ryanair fly to Terminal 2 (old terminal) and the rest including Spanish low cost airline Vueling to Terminal 1 (new terminal). All rest of non-low cost main international airlines do fly directly to Barcelona and will land in Terminal 1. Both terminals are less than 15 kilometers away from the retreat center and have 24-hour transport links to the city.

Yoga Weeks Barcelona encourages you to fly in and out on their normal working hours (every day from 09:00 to 21:00), which will help them give you the best welcome possible.

There are also 2 nearby low cost airports at the cities of Girona. They are over 100 kilometers away, and have specific bus only transport services. Taxis are available but will be highly priced. If you have the time, it is a possibility, but please budget in the bus transfer and the time to take to Barcelona Bus Station (2 hours approximately).

From Barcelona Airport, you can choose one of the following options to get to the retreat center:

  • By aerobus

This is a great option to reach Yoga Weeks. The airbus is a daily service between Plaa de Catalunya and Barcelona Airport. It has a frequency of every 10 minutes and runs from both terminals. Approximate journey time is 35 minutes. Last and main stop is Plaa Catalunya, which is about 5 minutes walk to Yoga Weeks. Once in the Plaa, walk down the famous street of Las Ramblas and turn right after 5 minutes in to Carme Street. Find number 40, and Yoga Weeks is there.

To return to the airport, you can take the bus from the same stop as on arrival. Please check the bus is taking you to the right terminal at the top of the vehicle.

  • By taxi

There is a 24-hour taxi line at each exit in both terminals. Taxis in Barcelona are yellow and black. Yoga Weeks recommends that you to use licensed ones for city sustainability. Rates are affordable and distances reasonable within Barcelona. A taxi from the Airport to Yoga Weeks should cost between 30 - 40 EUR depending on terminal and traffic.

  • By train

Daily connections with Barcelona Airport from Sants Station. Frequency is every 30 minutes. Journey time is about 18 minutes.

Arrival by train

Sants Train Station has connection with all main urban metro lines. To arrive at Yoga Weeks, buy a single or 10 pass metro ticket. Catch the L3 green metro line towards Canyelles, and stop at Liceu. From there, it is only 2 minutes walk. Head up to Las Ramblas and turn left into Carme Street until you find the number 40.

Arriving by bus

When arriving by bus at the Barcelona Estacio del Nord, head towards the metro entrance and buy a single or 10 pass metro ticket. Catch the L1 red line towards Hospital de Bellvitge. Stop at Plaa Catalunya.

Driving directions from Barcelona Airport

The C-31 Barcelona - Castelldefels road links Barcelona Airport with Yoga Weeks. Please follow the signs for the Ronda Litoral ring road that will connect you to city center. Whilst there, follow directions to Yoga Weeks address. The estimated journey time from Barcelona city center to the airport is about 20 minutes.

Parking on the streets of Barcelona is not a great option, as hourly charges and time limitations apply. You will find a secured public parking (BSM) in front of Yoga Weeks. Yoga Weeks recommends this option on a weekly tariff.

For information about the booking conditions, please send Yoga Weeks an inquiry.

"The yoga retreat was great. Super combination between yoga, city, and the sea. I would do it again. The teachers were very good and nice. Yoga on a roof top with the view to Montjuic. The correspondence between you all was very easy. Thanks a lot!"

  • Review by Lou Thorpe from China

"This Barcelona retreat was amazing. The house is beautifully located right in the heart of the city and holds a lot of charm. The teachers are really warm and tailor the classes meeting the individual needs of the group. We had a pregnant student in our yoga group but that wasn't a issue with working on yoga together. I do know that if need be the teachers can do two groups of yoga to meet the requirement of the group. The yoga itself felt powerful and working on your body whilst on the rooftop was perfect, both for the views and for peaceful meditation. On the last day we had a student with a birthday so they surprised her with vegan chocolate cake and a special brunch. There was so much food!! The brunches are amazing. My recommendation is to take ear plugs, Barcelona is a social city and to bring a sense if wonder, you will have a blast in this vibrant city! I really did love my time at the urban yoga retreat and can't thank the teachers enough."

  • Review by Gabriella Alexander from London, United Kingdom

"I had a wonderful stay with Leslie, Anna and the team at Yoga Weeks and I come away from it feeling enriched and refreshed, with a fresh perspective and a lovely new group of friends. The building itself is a great way to experience the city - bang slap in the middle of buzzing Barcelona, yet quiet and peaceful, with a roof terrace escape where we saluted sun's and moons and felt all the peace of a desert island. Leslie was great. Her combo of yoga, energy healing and life-coaching, she rebooted each and every one if the group. What I especially liked in her approach was the way she helped us to own our own progress, getting just the right balance between guiding and uniting us as a group and letting us explore our own individual needs."

"Fantastic place in the heart of Barcelona. Ideal for combining yoga with a fabulous city break. Yoga tutors are excellent, choice of having lessons on a vast terrace overlooking the city with a quiet and peaceful ambiance or indoors. Rooms are spacious, facilities are great with free fast WiFi. Ideal for exploring Barcelona with its many cultural attractions as well as very nice beach. Great location, 2 minutes from Las Ramblas and 1 minute from Boqueira market. Excellent value for money!"

"It is my second time at Yoga Weeks Barcelona and I have loved it! The yoga classes were great, I certainly felt a lot of progress by the end of the week. We had 2 teachers and both were amazing, attentive with a lot of individual care and correction to each of us. The Yoga center is clean, staff very friendly and know a lot about Yoga and the city. The location is great as it is so central, easy to walk anywhere and yet it is a quiet spot. And only a 15-minute walk away from the beach, Barceloneta. I will be back again"

"I would highly recommend Yoga Weeks for anyone wanting to combine a yoga retreat with a city holiday. The apartment is spacious, beautiful and most importantly in my opinion based in the heart of the city - some of the best shops and restaurants are within five minutes. During my visit I was fortunate to have most classes on the rooftop terrace, which has great views of the city. I especially loved the buffet brunches after the morning classes with a variation of vegetarian food. Ana and Arlette are also lovely and warm hosts, I enjoyed my interactions mostly at brunch, they also openly helped us with any queries. Arlette is also a great yoga teacher, I managed to learn a great deal on improving my alignment and posture with her morning classes."

"I wanted to see Barcelona and I love to do yoga, and I can't think of a better way to combine them than Yoga Weeks. The studio or accommodation is in the heart of the Old Quarter, with shops, restaurants, bars, markets, theatres and attractions right outside the door. Inside you climb the stairs of the grand old building and settle into the relaxed and elegant apartment where you can use the kitchen, hang out around the dining room table or read on the back terrace. The yoga instruction was professional; Arlette is knowledgeable and passionate about yoga. The rooftop studio was a great place to start and end the day, watching the sun rise or fall as we moved through our poses. The brunch with the group was full of laughter followed by all the free time we wanted to explore the city. Great value for money."

"It was unique to be able to sail for 1 week in the beautiful beaches of Ibiza and Formentera. They really are paradises. The yoga practices in the beach were great, don’t expect full yoga workout but more of a conscious practice with natural elements of the space. Breath-taking sunsets. Life in a boat it is also very different and you end up creating a great group, and I think friends for a long time. Captain, Virginia and Ana were great running the retreat. "

Anyone looking for an amazing and relaxing holiday and a great social experience need to look no further. Magic. "
