In the heart of Australia's red center, Sails in the Desert hotel beautifully contrasts Uluru's raw natural beauty with a decidedly luxurious outback holiday experience. Soaring white sails crown Ayers Rock Resort's Sails in the Desert hotel, shading 228 luxury five-star rooms and suites.
In a destination where one of the world's oldest cultures still thrives, the mystery, color, and wisdom of the local Anangu people is interwoven into every facet of Sails in the Desert's modern design. More than luxury accommodation, Sails in the Desert hotel is a destination of exploration and indulgence.
Ayers Rock Resort is located on the edge of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, offering a variety of accommodation and spa services. An oasis of world class facilities and services, enveloped by some of the most breathtaking scenery this country has to offer. Your hosts, Sails in the Desert at Ayers Rock Resort, is one of Australias finest hotels, offering premium accommodation, international dining experiences, and authentic cultural activities for a week in the outback.

With over 15 years of teaching experience exploring the relationship between the seasonal cycles, five element theory, esoteric modalities, and body/mind spirituality; Denby has founded the innovative practice she calls Mana yoga, a unique flow that reflects her own journey with yoga, energetic healing, and motherhood. Her shamanic work weaves an empowering layer, unbinding and aligning, inspiring, and recalibrating bodies, hearts, and minds through an intuitive sequencing of remedial and seasonal yoga postures, breath work, meditation, and mantra.
This fluid integration of individual adjustments and bodywork, ritual and healing techniques makes for an enlightening and potent experience. You will be moved, in many ways and on many levels and often feel like you have just received a massage, counseling, and yoga session all rolled into one. Denby has led healing retreats in Bali, Hawaii, and Tonga for the past decade. Yoga Spirit Journeys is her newest venture where she intends to respectfully share her knowledge, teachings, and ever evolving spiritual awakenings in service to others as they develop and anchor their own innate powers in this most sacred of lands.
Maruku arts dot painting workshop provides a fun introduction to local Indigenous art. When Denby discovered yoga in 2000, she felt the universe had finally revealed her true purpose in this lifetime. She felt blessed and inspired and left behind a successful career in the film and television industry to be in service to others as a yogi and teacher.
She started her yoga journey by completing an intensive two year Ki yoga diploma teacher training course in 2002 with master teachers Jack Marshall and Richard Paton, and simultaneously began studying a variety of natural therapies at Nature Care College, including energetic and spiritual healing, kinergetics, Bowen therapy, and massage.
Since then, she has completed pre natal and mother and baby yoga training with Suzanne Swann, (inspired by the teachings of Active Birth pioneer Janet Balaskas); the Hatha Purna yoga diploma with John Ogilvie at Byron Bay Yoga; advanced workshops with Donna Farhi, Tara Judelle, Kathryn Budrig, Chanel Luck, Lisa Masters, Simon Borg-Olivier and Duncan Peak and birthed a beautiful son, Max, who is her greatest teacher and friend.
She continues to hone her skills as a therapist specializing in pre and post natal yoga; is a certified and registered level 3 / senior teacher (Hatha and Ki) with YA, reiki master and shamanic facilitator.
Ever a perpetual student, Denby is inspired by leading yogis including Shiva Rea, Donna Farhi, John Ogilvie, Simon Borg-Olivier, Tara Judelle and Francesco Garri Garripoli, and guided by the teachings of Gangaji, her husband Eli, and the luminosity of healer Caterina Pellegrino-Estrich.
Denby is now one of the most sought after yoga therapists on the Northern Beaches, well known for her insightful, compassionate and natural affinity with teaching and healing.
All of her classes incorporate remedial yoga sequences and seasonal insights that build physical structure, emotional foundation and energetic integrity. The more subtle and energetic aspects of Ki and Hatha yoga are woven within these sequences designed to open the heart and encourage a deep exploration of habits, behaviors, and memories.
With over a decade of teaching experience and exploring this relationship between the seasonal cycles, the five element theory and body / mind / spirit, Denby has founded the innovative Vinyasa-style practice that she calls MANA Yoga, a unique style that reflects her own personal journey with yoga, energy, and motherhood.
Shifting weakness into strength through this system of corrective yoga helps restore balance on all levels and helps awaken the complete self. Her work with shamanic ceremony, birth, and parent circles creates another empowering layer to the work she creates on the mat, making every class different, inspiring, and transformational.
She encourages students to let go of the physical and mental struggle connected with trying to find the perfect pose and instead, to find and feel the energies within each pose, with ease, attention, and a sense of adventure.
Their practice then follows the path of self-inquiry and self-expression, rather than just being a physical activity. Students come away from classes feeling that they have been held, opened up and safely challenged, at their own level.
All healthy, nutritious meals, contemporary bush tucker, and a desert dining experience under the stars are included in the price of the retreat.
Situated at the premium Sails in the Desert Hotel, a personalized breakfast experience begins with an international menu and is completed by an egg and pancake station that allows the guest to define their very own signature dish. Your three-course dinner experience includes a selection of seafood, sashimi, an array of antipasto, cured meats, and soups to awaken your tastebuds. An assortment of pastas, Asian favorites, roasts, and a grill selection cooked-to-order abound with signature dishes enlivened by Indigenous flavors will settle your appetite. For dessert, indulge in a rich and creamy chocolate fountain served alongside an intercontinental selection of mouth-watering sweet treats.

"I can honestly say I have never been to a yoga class of this calibre anywhere. I have practiced regularly over the years and attended yoga classes of various styles around the world and my very favourite have always been with Denby. Under her very connected and loving guidance I have experienced many wonders on my mat. I feel cleansed, opened and stretched, physically and spiritually and always leave with a deep warmth inside of me, unsure of whether that sensation has been reignited inside me, or been intentionally channelled into me. Denby has a beautiful way of creating and holding a sacred space; I feel totally safe to explore and let go. Having Denby’s teaching, her dedication and her awesome, deep knowledge in my life, changes everything."

"Denby is an amazing and inspiring yoga instructor. Her depth of knowledge of anatomy and bio-mechanics of the body is unlike most. She understands the importance of correct posture and movement when on the mat that I very much appreciate. She has a hands-on approach where she may correct your form or give you a little “squeeze”, a massage, or release an area with a Reiki treatment which is extra special. She also takes her teaching to a whole other level with her inspiring and spiritual dialogue. I find I leave her classes feeling so much more open, renewed mentally and spiritually and ready to tackle the week ahead."

"I have regular shamanic healing with Denby and they have forever changed me. Her caring and compassionate style enables me to be open to work on a very deep energetic level and I am able to shift so many layers of thoughts, behaviors and patterns that no longer serve me and that have been holding me back for so long. I feel like the most alive, shiny, glowing goddess after each session! Denby is so insightful and intuitive that she is always able to facilitate shifts in my thoughts and consciousness that many years of work had only dented. I am forever grateful to the universe for leading me to Denby. "
